For the six months! But still, it's a lot :P
El is supposed to take their test next Friday buttttt I'm having my doubts that they'll pass :/
Hey Ash! I haven't seen you in agessssss!
Kat, they're a bad test taker.. but also they're freaking out over the whole parallel parking thing and don't really want to try it again which.. obviously isn't going to work :P I said, you just need to do it for the test, then you basically never have to do it again LOL.
Nice to meet you!
Hiiiii! Long time no see!
How's life been? How are things? Ahhhh I'm happy to see you! LOL
Kat, we went to the actual place where they do the test but.. they HATED it :P Alex is going to take them to the school and the church and have them try there, too.
Hmm I didn't think about the DMV. I bet they have it set up for it. I dunno when he'll want to practice that stuff. He is going to practice it in the xterra as that is what he'll take the test in. The mazda is a manual and it is so easy to fail the driving test in a manual - so we are using the mazda for hours, but then going to practice the road skills test in the xterra and take the test in the xterra.
I hate parallel parking too. I didn't like teaching it, I was surprised Katie did it so well LOL I NEVER parallel park. I always pull into and out of those slots using an empty one hahahah :P Or I park somewhere else!!! I honestly think it doesn't need to be on the test unless you live in a place where you have to park like that a LOT (like, big cities or something!)
If I have to parallel park I won't go to that establishment xD
I am pretty good, how about yourself? 2 kids now, one is starting preschool soon.. they grow up so quick :(
Yeah, I've not parallel parked once since my test LMAO. And it's been 20 years!
Oh gosh WHAT?! I didn't realize you had any, I really am out of the loop haha.
Preschool is such a big step! How are you dealing with it?
the places I use the parallel parking spots are my pharmacy, or the buildings I go to for training for my job. But there is always empty spots so I just drive right in lol
I was going to go to Ingles and get stuff but looked in the freezer and decided not to. Even tho it's 4x fuel points Friday again, I just don't need to go. Instead I went and got firehouse for dinner hahah because everything is frozen and I didn't feel like cooking. Nathan said he wanted a frozen pizza anyway...until I said I was getting firehouse. Then he wanted firehouse lol
[edit] 8/12 11am I am about to get into it with my lawnmower :P I am using level 4 height, used to be able to use level 2 height, but now even level 3 hits the ground. Do lawn mower decks drop loose ??? I have no idea. I have the tires full of air. I know the blades are bent a bit. I do have some dips/drops that I have to be careful of and I am doing my best. But today I turned the mower too sharp, too close to a root, and hit the stupid thing. Stuck the lawnmower on it. Got it in neutral and got it off, but now its making a weird noise when the blades engage. I already have a problem with the belt staying on... even tho its a new belt. sigh Riding mowers are great and suck at the same time because they are too hard for me to work on by myself and I can't afford to just go get a new one. I can't afford to just go get a new pushmower (which I also need, to get the tighter spots the riding mower doesnt fit) and heaven forbid I have to push mow this whole acre because my riding mower is screwed. I hope its not. I hope its just needing new blades and it will be ok. Ryan will check tomorrow, he is coming over to get a part off an old push mower for HIS pushmower. and he is also checking on my driver window in the xterra because i think it fell off the track today when I rolled it down SIGH Problem after problem right now. UGH
Oh no Kat. :( Hopefully Ryan can fix it.. again! They are ridiculously expensive, it's kind of crazy.
Maybe it's time to just let most of the yard go to the pollinators? LOL
Went and did a paint n sip last night with a new friend, and I'm glad I went! I was kind of nervous, but we had a lot of fun!
Well. I can't stand the front yard to be overgrown. It looks awful :P And I have to at least keep the dog pen and runner line areas mowed for the dogs. I have let the way up front go over grown before and sometimes the side and the rest of the back, but usually once I start mowing I just like to do it all :P If I have to use a push mower, that is the only parts I'll do - the dog pen/runner line, and the front between my porch and the tree.
He says I may have bent the rod that holds the blades, not the blade itself sigh even worse. He is going to try and knock it back straight, later. The noise is the blade scraping the side of the mower cover panel thingy. He also could not get the door panel off so the car window isnt' fixed either. It is currently being held up by a screwdriver sigh My brother said he will come up and fix it, but he wants me to get a $70 part in case that has to be replaced, so that we have it and its not a scramble to get it if he needs it. He won't know until he gets the door panel off. Well. if he is driving and spending the gas to get up here I guess I can get a maybe/maybe not needed part. I can always return it I'm sure if we dont need it.
I think what annoyed me most is that Ryan KNEW it rained, knew its muddy here, and came over in nice clothes and barely seemed to make much of an effort with either problem. I mean, why did you come in nice clothes knowing you had to look at a lawnmower? UNDER the lawnmower? I can get not doing much more than what he did for the car window, because he didn't want to break the door panel. Which is why he flat out told me to get my brother to do it. My brother lives freaking 300 miles away for gods sake!! You are 20 miles. But ok. I get you don't want to break the door panel. But nice clothes, KNOWING you have to crawl under the mower to look at it/attempt to fix it??? Thats just not wanting to do it. Why bother to come then.
Ok rant over (for now, I might rant more later) - at least he IS going to come back and try to fix it.
What did you "sip" on ;) I have seen a few of those events around here, I've never gone. Glad you had fun.
Kinda nervous about preschool. I hope he doesn't start beating up anyone.
does your child tend to do that at home? It is a change for kids, going to preschool, especially those who have not been in daycare or anything else.
I am a paraprofessional, I assist teaching PreK (4-5yr olds) in a local elementary school. I absolutely love it. We get all kinds of kids - only children, oldest children, youngest children, only girl in the family, only boy in the family, kids who went to daycare, to church preschool, kids that have never ever even been to visit other family members w/o mom/dad along, kids who are being raised by grandparents, kids who stay with grandparents while the parents work, etc We don't usually get kids that beat up people ;) Most kids seem to know it's not allowed. They do argue/fight over toys and stuff, but quickly learn to share.
oooh forum point, yay!
Oh wow! That sounds like a great time. I would love to spend more time with children, but life has taken me a different route.
Recently he (4yo) started hitting us and his sister (1yo), also throwing things out of anger. He is usually better outside of the home (with other people), understandably as home is the safe space.
He has a hard time listening to us (parents and grandma) and it is a crapshoot if he will stop doing what we ask him. Everyone else who watches him says he's an angel. In April, we went to the park. It was his second time there as it just reopened from renovations and covid closings etc. Well, it was time to go and he bolted. My husband ran after him and the end result was husband falling down a hill and tearing his PCL... 4 months of recovery and physical therapy.
Oh no. Ouchies for your husband. Ugh I totally hate that for you. The kids do sometimes just randomly start acting out. And it's so frustrating figuring out why/what is going on. You are right tho, that kids who are well behaved when out and act up at home are doing that because home is their safe space Makes my heart hurt for the ones who act up at school. 😕 Be firm and consistent with how you react to him/his behavior and hopefully it will get better
We try, sometimes it is frustrating of course. I just don't want him to start with his anger at school or be a bully.
I think it will be ok, especially if you communicate and work with his teacher. The fact that you are already concerned about it becoming an issue is a plus to me, as a parapro!! I and the teacher I work with much prefer parents who KNOW their child has/might have an issue and is willing to work on solutions. We have those who deny there is a problem at all sometimes 😑
