True, mine time and ability are worth a lot more than what mine get. Mine does gknow, a professional would charge every hour what mine paid for the day. JAG is in a tight spot, he spent ten times what he could give for the work. The only advantage is he gets mine undivided attention during the job.

This day had a new experience, a master cylinder for brakes. Mine took to bench bleeding the new part, something mine never did during Brakes. It wasn't so difficult, the short version is, fill the reservoir, connect bleed tubes from the output to the reservoir input, and pump the cylinder until the lines show no air.

Tomorrow we continue, a new radiator, fluids, and reinstall everything mine removed. Mine is just a part changer, but no other friend he gknows has time or wants to help.

Their loss, for sure. As a host, you went out of your way to make sure they were going to enjoy themselves. To each his own, I suppose, but I am just sorry that they didn't let you know any sooner. I do know what you mean about when they need their cars looked at, they call. My husband gets that a lot with some of his friends. They want to barter for his mechanic services (he works on things that everyone else has given up on, tractors, and vintage cars). but when he needs something, they want cash. WHAT? And when they barter, it's usually some piece of crap that needs repaired in order to run. What is with that? Unacceptable. He is a soft spoken man, and doesn't like to cause anyone pain, or misgivings. I have no such feeling.....LOL I feel like his time is just as valuable, and he trained for that knowledge, worked for that degree, and deserves to be paid, just like anyone else - friend or not. To be fair, it's usually just one long time friend who does this. His other friends pay him for his time and services, so I am not sure that it's not just some character defect in the one guy. He's a good guy, just not so caring when it comes to my husband's expertise. Off putting, to say the least.

i have used up all my libertine lounge trinkets to buy those bags of trinkets. any idea how i can condense steamwork trinkets into lounge trinkets to get more bags??...or maybe there are bags to buy in the steamwork shop>>

Mine will say JAG is the only person who pays below what mine efforts would be worth, everyone else has given mine often more than fair payment. Yes we worked for many years on scores of cars for friends, family and a few odd types. Usually for peanuts, or takeout.

Mine gknow that if a career as an auto tech were not possible, there are alternatives. Mine can shift to dismantling, which doesn't require diagnostic skill. Tho some additional gknowhow can be helpful.

If he gets more time tomorrow, we intend on making as much progress possible. Mine have a long task for the morning before going, the lug nuts need to have their sheaths removed. Some of them have become difficult to remove after the sheath has slipped out of shape.

On the flip side, mine is going to experiment trying different instant coffee brands, in hopes to recreate the cups of cafe con leche from childhood.

No ewwww! lol. I love all things guts and gore. As long as I can put them back together again, it's all good, right? lol

John says he doesn't work on cars for the money, but for the art of it, and the thrill of fixing something that was once broken, and no longer functions. But he's mentioned more than once, that he often feels used by this certain friend, so on some level, I'm sure it hurts. I still say you're worth your weight in gold, and all this knowledge you are gaining will always be worth something.
