I drive an Iron Man edition Hyundai Kona.
Although many of my cars in the past have been given names, this one is just referred to as "The Iron Man Mobile."
Previous rides include: "Floyd" the Ford Focus "Stark" the Nissan Juke "Petey" the PT Cruiser
Okay I straight-up love that and I'm really not an Iron Man girl. They really nailed the Marvel colour scheme there, and I love the shape of it too. Boxy but rounded, just like you'd expect from an IM-inspired car.
How is it to drive? It's funny, I was always warned away from Hyundai for being "cheap" and "nasty" but my little Excel was easily one of the best cars I've ever had, and she was perfectly comfortable to drive (and cheap to repair too, which is always a plus). I'd absolutely buy a Hyundai again if I was after a small car.
Also, was the PT as bad as everyone claims? I feel like they get slagged off more than they deserve, but I've never had one myself.
My husband and I are both huge Iron Man fans (I have a very large bicep tattoo of Tony Stark, haha~). We ran into this car on the way back from a beach trip and we had had NO plans to trade our old truck in at the time.
The car was modeled after the Mark I armor suit, thus the matte grey color. I think the red they probably tossed in since the suits most folks know have red? Just a hunch!
As for how it handles it's super fun to drive. It's technically a compact SUV so it's got the utility we like but it has the driving pizazz of something a touch more sporty. It has a turbo mode for quick pick-ups and angry driving; it's the highest tiered version of the Kona they made so it comes standard with all of the bells and whistles available to a Kona. The Hyundai reputation, in my experience, has improved exponentially as they years have gone on but I also grew up with a father who religiously drove Hyundais. He had a 2000 Hyundai Tiburon he drove into the ground (literally; he'd probably still be driving it but someone ran him off the road into a cemetery and totaled it). He still drives Hyundai and to my knowledge he's never had a single issue. And, so far, we've been very happy!
And... yes. My PT was a lemon. Don't get me wrong- I loved driving it and it was super comfortable- but it had problems pop up every few months and it began to be more expensive to maintain than it was to keep.
Damn, yep, that's what I heard about the PTs. Just a constant cycle of break-down, repair, break-down, repair. And super expensive in Australia too, because all the parts have to come from so far. Such a bummer, because I actually really like the look of them. I know everyone thinks they're the embodiment of fugly but something about them just tickles me. It's like a 1950s-mafia-themed soccer mum car and I love it.
That's great to hear about the Kona runnings well. I hadn't even heard of them until early this year when my husband and I started looking at replacing his car and started paying more attention to the ones we passed on the road. Someone around here has one that's coloured like the little toddler toy cars and it cracked us up. We ended up getting an Impreza, since he's wanted one for over a decade now, but I might keep an eye out for a Kona when my X-Trail bites the dust.
My current car is named Blue Betty, because it's blue and used to belong to my grandmother, who was named Betty. I bought the car from my mom and aunt after they inherited it in the will.
My car currently, a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, blue. His name is Orion, named after Transformers Orion Pax ; v ;
Naming my cars has never gone well for me....
I once had a pink Ford sedan, I named it Pinky Pie, and it's front axle just snapped right in half as I was driving down a regular road.
I then named my red Chevy Blazer The Tank, and that engine blew up as I was driving up the highway. Managed to cruise into a mall parking lot and it had to be towed and junked.
Named an old green car I had Talon - literally just stopped running one day. I never did find out what happened to that one.
I started buying newer cars off the lot when I was 21, and I have not named a single one since, and not one of them has given me any issues knock on wood but I do refer to my current Toyota Highlander as "My Sweet Baby" fairly often.
I once had an old Cadillac I named Edna. No idea why, lol.
Loving the names and stories behind them. :)
Thank you so much for sharing.
high fives
My current car: A 2015 smart fortwo named Rokusho--after the Medabot. XD My previous car was a 2001 Honda Civic that my Dad named Vash.
Not my car but my mom Named her's Baby and my dad named his Ruby[it's red].

[My Website]I've had a good few cars but none have ever had a name!
I have this little Nissan Leaf which has a nice blue color, so I named it Fuyu Aoi, or winter blue basically

My previous car was named Serenity, and by the end of her very long life, duct tape and love were really the only things keeping her going.
Current car is FRIDAY because she's got some rudimentary AI and is cherry red.
Going from a 25 year old car who's only still functioning parts were the AC and automatic doors to a car that's two steps away from driving itself was an experience.

I love these names! 😂
The two I’ve named: Silver Chevrolet Tracker - Zippy. Her speedometer was a little wonky and I realized that her actual speed was about 2-5 MPH over what she was telling me. Jeep Liberty - Blue. That was the color on her key tag when I bought her… She’s actually a dark pearl green color.
Thanks to all who keep posting. :) I love the names and stories that come with them.
So, to add to the names... not a car... my grandmother named her robo-vaccuum "Henrietta".
"...duct tape and love were really the only things keeping her going".... sigh... I feel ya there.
"Going from a 25 year old car who's only still functioning parts were the AC and automatic doors to a car that's two steps away from driving itself was an experience." -Okay...you had me laughin' :D
My husband and I bought a used Audi A4 Quattro last year that I named Suzi Quattro, after.. well... Suzi Quatro.
Otherwise, we've always just referred to them by what they are. "The Truck". "The Chrysler", etc.
