that's much how ours goes, especially with hospital appointments - we were told Gran's appointment would be on a "2 week fast track", but it still took about 4 weeks for the appointment to be made, because the department is so behind!

I really wish I could read slower! The only advantage is being able to re-read things like Harry Potter, and spot bits I'd missed the first time around :P

hands over a lot of patience is there a small knitting project you could do first, just to get back into the swing of things so you have a successful knitting project before tackling the sweater again?

I finished the joggers I was sewing (still need to write a bit for their website and get the photos done 😊) and also made a lanyard for Gran (if you are exempt from wearing a face mask, you're encouraged to wear a "sunflower lanyard" so you don't then keep getting asked by the staff why you aren't wearing a mask. I ordered the official one for her last week, but of course it didn't arrive in time for her appointment!) It can be very frustrating having to wait, but not always much you can do about it other than maybe call and nag a bit and hope that help. :P Hope her appointment goes well. :)

Even if I read slower, I have a habit of not remembering small details. Even from some of my favorite books like HP. :P My memory is just not good with those kinda things. But being able to read a book again and discover new things is awesome. :D

The lanyard looks really good! That is a good idea, it is not fun being hassled about wearing a face mask if you are not able to do so. :)

I think we probably pay attention to the bits we know are either key plot points, or bits with our favourite characters :P the rest just isn't important enough to other remembering! ;)

Maybe if the earwarmer is quite a quick project, that might work to get you back in the swing of knitting (and keeping the tension even) before diving back in for the sweater? I found that doing a small project can help break the "this isn't going right" thing with a bigger project ;)

Thanks :d The first thing the person on the 'welcome desk' at the hospital said, was "she has to wear a mask" .... so Mum pointed out the lanyard. Apparently it has to be one of the official ones (even though there's no mention of that on any of the paperwork Gran had), so a volunteer came running up to them with a free one! So after all that, I could've saved the time and effort and not bothered making one at all :K Her appointment went well - she's got to wait for another appointment now to get whatever they need to do done - that's just an outpatient one, so she won't have to stay in, but it'll probably be quite a long day!

At least for the earwarmer is not a huge deal if the tension is not spot on, when it comes to sizing so that helps. So I might try this. It would be nice to have it ready for mum for when it starts getting colder.

ooh how exciting and fun :D I've got the first coat on the front of the cupboard doors done this afternoon. Got second coat of the cupboards done as well. I will get the second coat of the doors done tonight and then tomorrow I will paint the third coat on the cupboards and in four hours (hopefully) put some of the doors back on and paint the final coat. I've learnt with sad experience that the paint is too easily ruined when I put the doors back on. It takes a month to fully cure so I will probably have touch ups here and their but I've had to paint the third coat on the doors after I put them up to prevent more damage to my paint.

Gran doesn't go anywhere (literally since they moved into the flat, the furthest she'd been before Monday was walking about 50 steps down the main corridor!), so I doubt there'd be anything she'd need the lanyard for, but I think Grandad will put it aside just in case she needs it :)

Cant hurt to keep it for now just in case. :) My gran is refusing to get treatment for a couple of her medical issues... She is very stubborn about it too, so it is hard to do anything about it. I think it has to do with loosing my granddad a few years back.

Hopefully if you guys are careful there wont be too much trouble with the paint. Maybe you could possibly wait a while before putting them up and let them cure somewhere? Not sure if that would work. Just got home from visiting my mum. :)

I've been non-stop for 12 hours minus the meals I've had. With doing a few other errands and painting and hanging the cupboards doors and everything else it's been a hellva day. I'm hurting so bad. But at least everythign is loaded back into the uppers and lowers and I'm down to 3 cupboards left. sounds nice

good point in the restrictions - certainly my gran's ability seemed to go downhill when she didn't see the same amount of people she would've normally done! Have you still got covid restrictions over there now, or have they all been relaxed?

today is mostly a day off, yes. I have a few things to do. I did the cat box already and started my bedding in the laundry. Gonna hoover my room as well but beyond that I'm doing a "Me" day lol
