If we can just get an answer on this part here, at the very least users will know if it's worth it to continue trying to submit new CWs while we wait for the price changes to go into effect. If existing CWs will be locked into their old prices when the price changes go live, then there is very little incentive to spend CSC on new CWs before the change. I worry that the longer users go without submitting new items and engaging the CW market here on the site, the harder it will be to re-invigorate the market when the new rules and price changes go into effect. Staff is making so many great changes to the site, I would hate to see the CW market fizzle up before it can fully benefit from future improvements!
We really need answers on all of these things though, they're all very important. (I know you're not suggesting they're not, I'm just reiterating they are.)
With the Holiday Stretch starting next month (Subeta anniversary on the 17th) from that point forward, I don't think there will be much time for art staff TO manage the queue for us, and without the pricing update, how can we be expected to host all our holiday events?
This is just a mess. I sat down drawing last night, all excited about what I made and then slowly realized I don't know when / if I'll ever get to wear what I just made. What a crappy feeling =/
I'm not a creator, but a maybe once every 2 months buyer.
Can't justify 5$-6$ for some tiny markings to adjust my eye shape when I know they could be cheaper. No need to buy CSC. If something changes, I will. If it doesn't, I won't.
I too would really like some answers to these questions. I understand that there is a lot going on, but we've been waiting a really long time for these changes at this point.
I want to be able to submit things, I want to be able to keep contributing to the site, I happily switched to the new subscription service! Even if we get a caveat that pricing adjustments may continue to happen as rules are changed/updated, I'd really like to see some of the changes happen now and get these questions answered about which cws are going to be affected by the new pricing scheme (only new ones going forward OR new ones and old ones since the last pricing change OR new ones and all of the old ones including those that were locked into their original pricing before we stopped paying 5k for all submissions regardless of item type).
I understand that the rules being updated might change the categories on items/bring on new categories that could affect pricing, but it seemed like there was a new price point in mind to start with - can we start there and just bold a notice that the prices are subject to further adjustments and changes? Something that will help us get back into feeling confident submitting items?
You're very right, I'd love to see some decisions being made on all fronts. From a triage perspective, at least knowing if prices would be updated across the board would help sustain the market if staff needed a weeeee bit more time on the rest.
But ugh, holiday season. You bring up a really good point there...with huge amounts of art and time needed for supporting the heavier site traffic, it really doesn't seem like staff would be able to devote much time to extraneous activities.
Yes to all of this. Just a start with the option for further tweaks would be totally acceptable in my book!
Yep, we're all looking forward to some price drops! I'm not sure how drastic they will be, but several people have proposed the idea for changing CW pricing to be related to the size/number of pixels it takes up on the HA. So makeup, being super small, would likely end up quite a bit cheaper if that's the pricing scheme staff decides to commit to.
So, not to be that person, but has there been an update? It's been days since people have last requested information on this forum at least. I realize...staff might not think we as users are entitled to information, or would rather wait for things to be more concrete, but Idk at this point I think we need someone to give us something. At least to me, it looks like this hasn't been moving forward at all. The CW Council hasn't added more members - from what I can tell they also haven't made any significant progress...unless ofc they're doing it offsite...without Cathii being aware lol.
I have to say if this is true I find this really disheartening...
[edit]
I'm pinging because I'm wondering if there is any chance that we'll see even a partial update on this in the near future? Especially even just a 'version 1' of the pricing update?
It is about to be Subeta's Anniversary, followed by an entire slew of events for the rest of the year. I, and many others that I've spoken to, feel incredibly lost in this community right now. We'd like to celebrate these holidays and events with you, but right now, where we stand is so incredibly uncertain.
The following are my personal concerns, and if any of you have the time or information to answer any of these questions, no matter how partially, I'd be really grateful.
I'm seeing people leaving or suggesting they're going to leave the community almost daily now. I just... don't understand why staff is being so silent as this community is dying...? Ya'll have told us countless times how important this community has been to keeping Subeta alive financially. Now we're receiving nothing but silence as we ask for help in return?
I just got back on staff and I'm still getting readjusted to things - but I am already working on some of this :) I don't want to go over details right this moment only because I'm still figuring things out again as well! But please know I'm working on everything. Just give me a bit to keep getting settled!
I appreciate your response. I am a little confused though, as it kind of sounds like things are just starting to get progress made on them? I'm really confused and concerned if we've already been waiting 7 months (at no fault of yours, you just got back lol) how much longer we're going to need to wait at this point. At this point... I'm not sure how much longer I can keep reassuring people to stay :C
I can't speak for anything that happened before I was back, but you won't have to wait 7 months. I promise! I don't want to give specific time frames because I don't want to over-promise and under-deliver - I hate that so much. But I am actively working on it hard right now and I'm going to do my best to get things rolled out much sooner rather than later!
I can understand that. "It's done when it's done." Thank you for your time. ❤️
Really happy to have you back on the team, since you've been steeped in CWs since probably the very beginning? I think you'll be able to guide the council best since you're the most knowledgeable. I think everyone is getting pretty antsy, so having that expertise will hopefully help things go quickly/smoothly. :)
Just echoing what was saying, users have been drifting away at an alarming rate while we wait, so I'm happy that the upcoming changes are taking priority. Cheering you, other staff, and the council on! 🎉
I'll believe it when I see it. We're still waiting for the Tea House, after all. When was that promised, a year ago? Two?
The voting on that ended May 30th.... 2017. LINK to news page. So three and a half, approximately.
Sorry for pinging you again, just wanted to give you this list of links I posted for 's benefit earlier this year. Since you've been out of the game for a couple of years, you may have missed at lot of the (imo, great and useful) discussions that have been had about CWs. I don't want you to be at a disadvantage in your discussions with the cw council, since they have mostly been present this whole time and may be assuming that you have had access to all the same information they have had.
And now I will stop butting in LOL. :) Thank you!
I mean, let's be honest here folks: It's for money. Subeta wants to make more money.
Why do we have the subscription scheme now? To make them more money. Why did they roll it out JUST before a Quest-A-Thon that (gasp!) basically REQUIRED you to have a Gold Account to be able to win the big prizes? Money. Why did Subeta start allowing custom overlay pets to be eligible for Pet Spotlight. Ding ding ding: money.
Frankly, I'm seeing a big swing towards "pay to enjoy" processing here on Subeta and it's really really sad. After the Morostide fiasco with disabled Subetans being unable to complete the games like everyone else due to them being inaccessible to folks with certain disabilities, it's being made really obvious that Subeta is now catering to a specific type of player.
Good, the site should focus on ways to earn money because it's a business, and quite frankly it's a business that doesn't look like it's earning enough at the moment to prosper. The money people spend on this site goes to paying the artists, coders, writers, and the rest of their employees. Without the site earning enough money the site would go out of business and you wouldn't have a game to play. Or at the very least it'll become a site without updates/new events because they can't afford to pay anyone. And that would suck. The more money they make - the more money they can invest back into the site for improvements, updates, extensions.
Also I completely disagree with the concept that the site is "pay to enjoy." You didn't need a gold account unless you wanted to get into the top 100 for the quest-a-thon meaning every prize but one was obtainable f2p. And idk about you but doing quests has never been a form of enjoyment to me regardless of the prize. You don't need custom overlays on pets to enjoy the pet feature / the rest of the game. I've never been into the pet feature, but from what I understand it's all about creativity and story concept. You don't need to own CWs to enjoy the avatar feature. The game doesn't force you to spend any money on it - if anything the paid features are incentives that offer more ways to have fun, but doesn't detract from what the game already offers.
And this is coming from someone who hasn't personally given Subeta any money years prior to my 2 year hiatus, and I used to have tons of fun. At most I paid artists using cash for their CW art.
There is also the fact that you can buy gold accounts and csc with sP. sP is pretty easy to make, do your quests, restock and check the donation center regularly. There really is no reason other than being brand new to the site, that you can't get a gold account. Before I paid for a subscription I got my gold accounts through sP and the loyalty box. Everyone can do it, they just have to put in the work for it.
And everyone who subscribed to a higher tier can send out buddy GAs to people who can’t afford to buy them themselves, which is something I’ve never ever seen before on any other pet site, so while yes they need money to run, and they’re trying to ramp up support, they are by no means making it solely pay to play.
