Sorry for a second post and ping but... what does this mean for the queue now? Are apps going to reopen for it? or is staff (who's job it isn't to manage the queue) just going to continue to hold it down for the foreseeable future?
The council isn't finalised, it's all still in progress. I've been working on the CW queue for a while to get a feel for it so I can give better input. I still have to catch up on everything to do with the CW council as I've been working on quite a lot of other things but I mostly wanted to give an update to just say that it's not a dead project or anything like that!
I am sure you're possibly the wrong person to ask, but maybe you can pass my question on to the right person if it's not too much of an inconvenience?
What new information about pricing changes is there?
I'm really struggling to understand why we were told there would be price changes (6 months ago no less), and then no changes happened but we're still supposed to actively spend a higher price until staff decides to finally work on this...? I believe we were told that Bonus Weekend ended because people were waiting around for it and not spending outside of it, isn't this kind of the same situation? It's bottle necking the community that knows about this potential change / they're not actively spending or participating. =/
Just want to support and by saying that I've talked to several users who are hesitant to submit CWs at all right now, while we're waiting on price changes, for fear of wasting money. I understand that with busy admins and needing to consult the still-growing cw council on changes, that things are going to take time - I hope that price changes are the first thing on the docket so we can move past this period of uncertainty and low participation.
Relevant to all of our interests here folks - we're all STILL in limbo on any rule adjustments or price changes:
***
This is a really disappointing update. I understand that there isn't much to report, but we were given the impression that one of the top priorities was getting the pricing situation updated and getting rules clarified because we've been told, repeatedly, that CWs bring the most money to the site and help keep it running.
Like a lot of other people, I've been holding off submitting any of the files I have because I was expecting an update to pricing to be something that was happening very soon, and I have enough trouble slotting on items already without people knowing that the prices are going to drop "soon" and not wanting to spend more than they have to (especially with bonus weekends being removed the way they were - even if I agree that they did harm to the way the site got incoming money).
I know a lot of other changes have been happening (new subscriptions, the move away from unique names) and I appreciate those, but this particular issue has been a huge sticking point. I understand that Saint had to step down and focus on their primary job, but in the wake of that, things with the council should've been put on a bigger priority. Keith hasn't even posted on any forums since July 27th. We were told that the council was nearly finalized then and now it's being said that they're still looking for users to add but...nobody has been added for days. There's no movement at all. This is exceedingly disappointing and while I appreciate 's response (thank you, seriously, for at least replying to us even if you didn't have much of anything you could say), it's really distressing to know we're still just sitting in limbo.
The site still isn't reaching it's daily goals, not even close - and I can't help but think that a big factor in that is so much left in the wind. I want this site to survive and thrive. I was really excited for the non-unique names announcement. But I am really, really disappointed in how CW rules and price changes have been hoisted up as something we need to get handled and then just left to wither with no response.
Well... I have nothing to add to your post, , but I did write a couple of suggestions at the discord channel and some suggetion threads that were totally ignored and wouldn't demand a lot of change code-wise, but oh well...
Please definitely point me to your suggestions thread(s), I'm happy to help voice support as I know it's hard to get them seen ❤️
I was also one of those holding off on submitting cws because I thought the price changes would be coming very soon..
I was also holding off on buying any csc, though I know I will need to eventually. Because bonus weekends are gone, less csc for my money there and also, with the exchange rate, say 3k csc costs over 40$ CAD. When we had bonus weekends, I would get around 4k? csc for 40$( I don't remember exact amounts here) With the new subscriptions, the cw vouchers are great, but they don't help releasers get cws submitted
I just hope things start moving more quickly soon

It is a great relief to know for sure that the council is not finalised. There's been a lot of discussion about it off site, because nobody wants to start drama in public or run afoul of "community guidelines".
The Council really needs to be diverse and to reflect a wide variety of opinions regarding the issues that surround CW distribution and sales.
Transparency is great, but the fact that people can see who's already been chosen and have no idea who else is under consideration means that a lot of people are concerned that several of the people on the list are friends with each other and share similar opinions.
We all understand that it's necessary to take some time to figure out who will be able to work well together, but it'd be good to see more names up there sooner rather than later, particularly if some of them were people we were actually unfamiliar with.

I just wanted to say thank you for taking the helm over the queue during this pandemic and being here on site to help us with questions we may have and quick answers. It is a great pleasure to see things moving foward on site and even if they rules are put on hold right now I know that once they have been completed, by the great members we have in the staff, they will be fantastic and well worth the wait. I hope you are doing well during this pandemic and staying safe. <3
I have honestly barely been playing Subeta at all lately. I'd like to come back with enthusiasm, but I really hate being in limbo with new CW rules/pricing.

I think that they are likely struggling with the loss of a couple of mods to "daytime" jobs. props to for doing what they can while being one person. I know that so many things are affected by pandemic jobs and economics, so on. I think it's great that we're getting this change in the CW market. I also think while it's been slower going than we want, that we must be patient. This is gonna be worth the wait, I have never been disappointed by this site. Rushing this will do it no good.
We are the ones who remember, the ones who see what was, and is, and will be.
Me~
I worry about subeta's future if people continue to put items on hold while they wait for the price to decrease. People will eventually stop buying stuff from artists, which'll force artists to leave which will in turn harm the future growth of the site. Most artists aren't exactly making big bucks from this site already - I've always assumed they do it more for fun rather than money.
Is the CW Council now in charge of the price reductions? I assumed that was fully staff since no user knows Subeta's numbers. If you need price suggestions I'm sure the CW community can provide a reasonable reduction though I'm not sure how realistic user help is without knowing subeta's numbers. Honestly, at this point I think I'd rather be told there won't be any reduction in price as opposed to a possible future reduction.
What if you guys just make it a 500 csc reduction from the batch prices? Is that reasonable? I truly don't know your numbers (how much you make / how much you need to make / how many cws need to be approved based on the cost /etc). https://prnt.sc/tvyic3
You could also just not lower the submission cost and instead lower how many items are in a batch again? Allow users to decide on batch numbers that would in theory lower the cost of people submitting originally since direct to shop has always been more expensive than making a batch.
I truly want to see subeta succeed as I have many fond memories of this site. Even if some day I'm no longer here I want subeta to prosper, and I think it's silly to see the community hurting over something so easily fixed as a price decrease. Either give it to the community or state it's not happening - people will understand.
I'm not in the CW community these days, but I know this is a major source of income for the site so hopefully something happens in the near future.
I do wonder, have staff sorted out what the price changes will be verses rule updates etc? I know ideally it'd all be released in one go but considering many users are holding submissions, depending on what's being planned behind the scenes, would it be possible to change prices first (with verbage of some slight tinkering may still happen) and then work through rule changes and whatnot?
well, I can't really track it back bc it's way too old, seriously over a year... but it's basically making sets (2 ears, 2 arms) into 1k or 1.5k category, so they can be sold by 800 or 1k the set instead of 1.4k. That's not really overloading the staff artist(s) with work, because some items are sold together, so they could have to avalyze both items together as the same item or separated, it's the same thing. About the CI, it could be requested to be sent the same image, mirrored (like some left and right items already are), so there's not really an extra step on analyzing CW queue. For head accessories and other small items, immediatelly accept them as small accessories or so, because 600 CSC for a simple headband is too much, and some price lowerings like that, immediate, that wouldn't really change the top price for BGs or body mods, dresses etc. (700CSC), but would change some of the unfair prices, like a little devil tail or small horns for 700CSC, that's outrageous.
Yeah, 700 CSC for a headband is way too much. You can barely see it on the avatar, so that diminishes the WOW factor IMO. 150-200 CSC seems more reasonable to me for something that takes up such a small area on the avatar image.
I honestly wonder how people scale such items to fit on the avatar base after creating them.....

Thanks so much for the ping, your post is excellent. You've been such a help to my newbie self. <3 But yeah, I am fresh into this and already hesitant to submit the wears I have ready to go for the reasons that have been stated here by others.
It could be kind of cool to price CWs based on how much of the 125x125 box they take up. That way tiny headband/hairtie type items could be in that 100-200 range and go up from there to backgrounds at full price.
The way it looks like to me is subeta staff had a think for a few months about cw pricing and rules and realised they didn't know what to do with them so after all this time created the cw council to help with that. Makes me nervous as well that it's taking this long and I say this as someone no longer as active in the community. It doesn't take 6 months to do something which can be as simple as adjust cw prices based on pre-existing pricing categories and see how that goes. It makes me think that staff realise they have too much to lose profit-wise to do so hence the subscription changes etc. But man, you'd think after all these years, the basic adage of "don't bite the hand that feeds you" would be learned? Cw pricing adjustments should have been # 1 priority and if # 1 priority takes 6 months to roll out then subeta gods help us all. :x Regardless of whether someone here is active in cws or not, cws are needed for the site to stay afloat for all of us. [shrug]
thank you for the pings, this update definitely needed more attention 💖
Reaper & others have already said all of this, but i want to chime in anyhow.
CW pricing changes need to roll out ASAP; only a handful of people are releasing/submitting items (i think i've only seen ~5 users? its a BIG drop), slotting on items, and even buying old items while we wait for this change. it was already slowing down, but now with the CW council forming i think we've all collectively thought that changes would start being rolled out sooner than they are.
i want to continue supporting the site, but i just can't justify slotting on as many items as i want to, or releasing my own, knowing that at almost any time i could be charging/paying 700 csc for something that will be 300 or 500 csc the next day-- especially with csc being a USD currency and the pandemic going on. sure it's only a couple of bucks difference on one item, but it adds up quick.
