when we had a builder working on the roof, he said he needed to get whatever part that was "15cm or however long that is", so I immediately replied with "half a ruler" and Mum said "6 inches" .... he just stared at us laughs Also, it's marginally easier to visualise a ruler length than trying to imagine how big 30cms is when you're trying to figure out if something will fit a space or not ;)

if only it worked as well for converting grams to pounds and ounces (we use grams here, but Mum's kitchen scales are still in ounces, so it gets complicated!) ;)

it didn't look like her with the bulk of her face covered. thanks :D lol today was a bit busy as well. Got a brita water dispenser today from publix. I love instacart lol. Anyway weve had problems getting bottles of water so bought this. The first pitcher of water is not drinkable so they said toss or give to plants. So i watered plants. This probably was a mistake as my leg is hurting like hell. But at least the plants are watered. Lol

Yay on the water filter, and hopefully that'll work better than bottled water at the moment :D Did the plants appreciate the water at least? I think I've killed my Dragon Tree - I'd left Mum in charge of watering it, and I think she was a bit erratic in how much it had :K

nods all of Gran's favourite recipes are either in ounces, or she'd already converted them so she could make them :P but obviously any new recipes are all in grams.... I think when I eventually get back to cookery, I'll get myself some proper kitchen scales laughs

That's even more impressive on the repotting! Not at the moment as that was the replacement for the last one that died.... I had my original Dragon tree for over 10 years, but the newer ones have died after less than 6 months each so far :K they get a bit pricey to keep buying new ones, so I think I'm better off waiting until I can get back to watering them myself rather than relying on Mum ;)

I am sure you can get a scale that does both ounces and grams. :D I have a scale, but I cant say I use it too often. lol

I'm thinking of putting some seeds in a pot on my windowsill, and trying to grow a few radishes and carrots indoors - hopefully something in a relatively small pot will be easier for me to keep up with watering, rather than the giant ones that have to be taken into a different room and put on a tray on the floor to water :P

nods I think I'd get digital scales, as they'd be more accurate too - Mum's ones are the old fashioned style where you put a weight on one side until it looks like it's balanced ;) She did have some gram weights with it, but I think she lost several of them over the years since she bought it :P

I have one of those digital scales and its very easy to use and accurate. I can change it to ounches too. :D Doesnt have to break the bank either, getting one. :D

I'll have to keep an eye out for one of those then :D That'd definitely be useful to be able to change it to ounces for those older / handwritten recipes too :D

Yup! And then there are a lot of recipes that just say one cup of this and two cups of that. Especially american ones I found. lol So I got measuring cups for that too. :)

I've not tried any American recipes yet, but they do seem to use cup measurements a lot! :)

I quite like that way of measuring actually, as its fast and easy. :) I tend to bookmark a lot of recipes a lot.. but I never get around to actually make them. lol

I've got a whole folder of bookmarked recipes - I'll start making them one day laughs ;) ....but then I also have a lot of knitting and sewing patterns saved on my computer that I haven't yet made either :P

Maya loves playing in the sink in my bathroom so I got her a cat water fountain. This is the first of March or so when we bought it. With in five minutes of it up and running even.

My completed bathroom. Its small but it's working well with my added storage.
