Well, this has been a very enlightening Thanksgiving Holiday for me. I had to take myself into the ER on Tuesday for a pain in my lower abdomen, where I found a bump, like maybe a hernia. It was hindering my deep breathing.
8 hours after signing into the ER, they call my name at last.
Going over my medical history with me, the ER Doc schedules an immediate CatScan with contrast. I get mutilated by 2 different nurses trying to get the IV into my arm that has hard to work with veins. I'm bleeding like a stuck pig and the sites they wrecked had already turned black. I was ready to go home at this point.
Eventually I get to radiology. The tech there sees the shoddy IV line and decides she has to fix it. I start silently crying because Im exhausted, I'm in pain and I'm beyond frustrated. We get the testing finished and I go back up to my ER room.
The young nurses and I were kidding around and having a few laughs. Then the ER doc walked in to tell me he will have the results in an hour and a half. I occupy myself by taking a video and narrating it with the nurses about my room. LOL
All of a sudden the Doc gently pulls the curtain back to my room, walks in with his head lowered and sits down in the chair next to my bed. He doesnt look up and then like I could read his mind, I yell out..."Oh God No! This is some shit, this is some shit, this is some shit". He looked as if he wanted to cry. He says "Yes, Cherin, this IS some shit". I lost it.
He explained to me that I was correct in my assumptions regarding the possibility of my initial breast cancer metastisizing but I didnt even think it could be this devastating of a finding!!
"The cat scan shows that your cancer has metastisized to your bones, in your Thorasic spine, your rib bones, your pelvic area and back in your brain stem".
To say the least, I felt trapped in a hospital room that was quickly suffocating me and I felt totally restricted and wanted OUT!! I asked him to please gt et this IV out of my arm and get my paperwork to get me out of here asap. He said he had to call my Breast surgeon first to discuss his findings and he had to call my oncologist to find out what they wanted him to do.
Its aggressively spreading and the lesions are many. Here I sit while everyone on my medical team takes a 4 day weekend and my brain is fixed on the fact that this garbage is moving rapidly thru me with no regard to any holiday or weekend hours.
If I dont get the chance to ever come back on here, I want to say "thank you" to everyone for all of the fun and friendship shared and experienced year after year.
I managed to speak briefly to my oncologist on Wednesday and she said I needed to get a bone biopsy. I said you need to level with me right now...can I beat this medically or do I need a miracle from God. She said, "This is not like the cancers you have had in the past. You may not see your next birthday".
The funny thing about what originally brought me into the ER, The Bump... Well, even though the Doc and the Nurses actually felt it and I had marked it with an X so they could find it...it NEVER showed up on my films.

sending you prayers and best wishes! Will keep you in my thoughts and hope the doctors can find the best treatment. So sorry for diagnosis and sending lots of hugs to let you know you have friends hoping for the best.
I am just speechless, and words can even begin to form any meaningful expression. Treasure the moments you have, and if you have a bucket list of things you want to do and never did. Run out and do them, with someone special to you. I personally would love to hear, the things you want to do on your bucket list. HUGS your words are so full of emotion, and you seriously articulated how you felt and continue to feel. Do you have someone that can come into the lair that can leave messages here for you, or convey messages from the bears to you as you need for it to be done?
Bears lets all laugh together send our laughter and positive thoughts to Baronbaracuda. On another note, when I am sad I need to laugh. I know you think how can you laugh? I lost my sister years ago, and it was gut wrenching. But I couldnt cry, I just become the oldest surviving sibling. My last surviving Parent needed me to be strong, when he couldnt be. Hardest thing in my life to laugh, when I wanted to curl in a ball and cry. It took me, a year to cry. So here is a good video and it has many other related ones, so like a gift that keeps giving. I encourage other sad bears to watch them.

I dont know if your know about butterfly needle used for difficult IVs and blood withdrawals. I had to have them used before, its better than the regular needles they use. So sending you an article.

I don't even know where to begin. There's a history of cancer on both sides of my family and it's been rearing its ugly head a lot over the past few years and it's been taking a serious toll on all of us. I know that you know this already but it's worth repeating: the lair is always here for you. Go out and try to do as many of the things you've dreamed of as you can. Take time to breathe, allow yourself to cry, and take care of yourself the best you can. ❤
