@ Laurey it's confirmed it's not because of "bad" weapons.

Connected "caring soul" with "hello darkness", battles and Mage being a douche and got , used it against prod, and got killed. Nothing. Repeted with other soul stones to be sure. I'm slowely running out of the ideas.

Don't think its about steamwork opponents as he should be happy we didnt defeat something he likes so IMO it's not that.

My thought about the semi-breakable weapons wasn’t that they were bad (they aren’t for a T1, really) so much as they were unreliable, unlike the best shelves.

Perhaps it’s worth losing to all the challengers :P

I lost in a battle with one of my archans, using only cheap low tier weapons..., then made my pet go to work while still injured. (I'm so sorry Temau). No go in getting Mathis to notice.

Could it have anything to do with repeatedly subjecting a pet to losses? Most of Wesker's pets have a loss against Prodigy- and I assume that was to get them to 0HP to unlock one of the past Thursday challengers. But one of their pets, Makalu, has 17 losses with no other battle scores. So maybe repeatedly subjecting a pet to losses with a bad weapon set?

Wesker said a few pages back that that was for Gunter.

They had to lose once for Mathis though, so that seems to be a part of the solution.

No worries about stalking and yes I did battle Makalu for this one. That's why she has so many losses, I was trying to figure out the second piece for unlocking the challenger

Oh, so I can do this with a T1 pet and not spend sP on heals that should go to buying books for Chums?

Also, Mage and I are bros. He more or less let me walk all over him. Of course, this does not extend to him giving me tomes, because at heart he is still Dickbear the Shardmaker.

Dickbear is just THE WORST every time I battle him for more wins. getting to 25 was painful

You don't need to spend a lot battling. You guys have the lose the battle part but there is one other thing you are missing. You can figure out the other piece if you start to think about why Mathis wouldn't like a pet losing a battle.

So, losing a battle is a part of it, and Mathis is apparently a person who really really cares about his friends once you get to know him. I can only think he would get really REALLY mad if you stopped loving your pet because it lost, but how do I go about doing that?

it's not losing a battle and then shoving the pet into training. And it's not abandoning the pet...I hope.

Wesker didn't abandon Wakalu (she'd have yesterday as an adoption date if she did), so thankfully it's not that. I don't think the staff would want to encourage people to generate/adopt and then pound unwanted pets after unlocking the challenger.
