Hi any meaning behind the choice?

Yes- it's my RL nickname! :D My son chose my original UN when I joined up almost 10 years ago. In fact, he chose it first on that 'other' pet site that shall remain nameless. :P ....thought it was time for a change!

I like the name change. One of my best friends name is Bren. I’m being lazy about chatting here. I am hoping it starts today. I’m wearing my flowers. LOL

Some days I'm on heavy pain meds, lower the laptop, not too exhausted... then I can type more ;) I'm in Montreal (Quebec, Canada) & we also celebrate it in April... that was a busy month for my 2 autism organizations.

Sometimes internet helps autistics communicate more/better whereas some it's worse since they have difficulty communicating in general so social rules/behaviours on the net can be even tougher.

Then again, I've had non-autistic "friends" (and even a family member) that behave one-sided. I got fed up after a while and told them to change or I'm out... so I ditched the "friends" and give a wide amount of space to the cousin, cuz ya can't kick her out of the family.

I would have replied how much did the person drink before asking the idiotic question :P I've had my share of inappropriate questions but I try to move on and find people that will understand me & support me in a positive way.

Sometimes it's best to talk to the person about what he/she needs but the tough part is oftentimes the question is too vague. I like to know what can be offered, specific examples and then I can say yes or no. My social worker is working on getting someone to help "educate" but she's helping me figure out what my needs are first.

I've had mega huge days this past week. Ouff! Tues. Went to the food bank... huge basket that was super heavy to bring back... but it's food! :) Wed. Helper came, then library, then evening class... back by 10pm Thurs 2 classes, 2 shops in different parts of town, 1 evening meeting discussing autism... back home around 9pm.

Luckily I get to rest today... baby shower (late notice) tomorrow & Sunday my community gardening group starts.

Everything I go to is 1 or more hours to get there... then have to get back. Busy busy. The arm is slowly getting better but still really fragile & easily aggravated.

I was pretty furious with two of my uncles when I found out that they just threw a bunch of stuff away, including papers and cards that could have had money in them (I found money stashed among cookbooks). That uncle is the youngest of 4 brothers and I have this theory that the youngest child always feels like the deserve everything/feels entitled when going through their parents' belongings after they've passed away (my mom's youngest sister was the same way). He's always been a bit of a jerk, talks about his position at his job, how much money he makes, the vacations he and his family takes, and one of his daughters is the same way. He has a timeshare in a condo and offered it to Chris and I as a place to stay on our honeymoon (we refused so that he couldn't brag that he helped pay for our honeymoon) and he has also tried giving us ideas of what to do when we build our house (Chris liked the ideas, I said we needed to pass on them for the same reason as we passed on the condo offer). I think he just got jealous that his brothers and myself were favored more than he was, in terms of what we inherited. My grandmother has hundred's (probably over a thousand) quilting magazines. He threw away a few boxes worth because my mom had already gotten enough of them....my grandmother had pages marked for patterns that she used or wanted to use. He also took a lamp, an Aladdin lamp with a green base, that my dad was supposed to get, but he denies that he took it. I'm a member of that forum, but I've never posted anything, I just browse the topics. I've been pretty lucky with my machines so far. The only problem I've had with one of them was due to me not threading the bobbin in right (a quick Google search remedied that then I felt pretty dumb). I've always been pretty tall. I think I grew 3 or 4 inches in third grade, I'd have to find the start and end of the year classroom pictures my teacher took because she had a 6 foot paper ruler on her wall we took the pictures by. I used my height to my advantage during junior high in gym class against one of the girls that bullied me. We were playing half court basketball, I trapped her in a corner and blocked her every attempt to pass the ball to a teammate and eventually forced her to step out of bounds. I tend to avoid heels, unless they are wedges, due to my loose joints, but the cowboy boots I wear to work cattle at a 2 to 3 inch heel (preventing feet from sliding forward in the stirrup), so that adds to my height too.

Hi! It will take a while to get used to the new UN. Don't worry I haven't been as active here as I'd like to be either. I don't think I'll be on at all tomorrow because I start a part time job (only from May to September), but I get to pick the days I work, so that's nice. I've been doing fairly well, still adjusting to Chris being gone for training/deployment. I've got a migraine that started yesterday, don't know if it was from inflating a soft collar for my dog (she got spayed), the bad storm that moved in, or a combination of both. I'm spending today relaxing so I can get rid of it before work tomorrow.

I agree, and sometimes the students don't know what type of assistance they need, they just know they have para support in the classroom. One of my biggest frustrations with the IEPs, was that the students and their parents are present for the IEP meetings with their case manager, so someone present should have a pretty good idea of what kind of assistance is needed. Some of the case managers were very proficient at providing details to aid the teachers and paras, others not so much (one was a wrestling coach and was required to teach, he always had the vague IEPs). There were a few students that I worked with, that when asked specific questions (like do you need help understanding this, do you want to work in a quieter room, do you want me to read the passage to you), would get a deer in the headlights look and either say 'I don't know' or 'I'm fine, don't need help'. Some students just outright refused help, even if they needed it. Good to hear that you arm is on the mend and that does sound like a busy week!

The Subeta holiday schedule says Vesnali begins "Early May to Mid-May" so I would hope it starts this weekend because next week is closer to mid May ending. Guess I'll find out when I get home from work tonight.

When was it that we find out events begin (IF they begin)? Five? Six o'clock? It's exciting and all yet the sudden warm weather is making me sleepy. My schedule is still free so I might end up waking up at midnight...

Yeah, events usually begin by about 6-7 PM Subeta time, at the latest. I'm not sure it will be starting today, since there haven't been any items added to the directory (which they usually would have started by now), so probably sometime next week I'm thinking but we'll see.

Yeah I thought vesnali would start this weekend also since next weekend is nearly mid May. It's not my favorite holiday, I'm just bored with nothing going on. Every time I see there's a new news post I think "vesnali". Wow that Soyblob in daras darlings is very needy. Been bonding with the little jerk for 3 days now and still can't buy him yet. Wonder if the other 2, if they ever appear, will take as long.
