psst do you know if anyone is organizing a secret shark Santa for the group? My left eye keeps acting up on me (twitching & blurring) and the reading disability isn't helping... haven't been able to read through most of the posts.

I know there's interest, but it's the issue of organizing that can be problematic. If no one is willing to take up the reins (shoot me in the foot why am I adding more to my overflowing plate) I could organize a simple one: 2m minimum & no limit... that's what we're doing on the other main group I'm in. What do you think?

In RL & sometimes online I've run groups & activities. Oftentimes people enjoy participating but aren't willing to organize (for various reasons, no judgment). I find it unfortunate fun traditions can be lost when past organizers no longer can do the activities and no one can take up the mantle.

I think/hope I can manage a low-fuss event. It won't be as elaborate or poetic as previous ones, but it'll be a little something. I'll just have to think & take time since my eye is twitching and I'm tired at the moment.

Some people are willing, but just don't feel confident enough that they can actually pull it off. They might be afraid of messing it up somehow. They could also be like me and already gifted everyone that they can (We estimate you've spent about 971,329,476 on presents this year!). Right now I am not even sure how many Sharks are still on or even how many still have their accounts, We lost a couple of the active ones this year. When I suggested the Secret Shark Santa a couple of years ago (can't remember if there was something similar or what was going on) we had a lot more active participants. I would hate to only sign up a couple of people or have someone left without a partner. If we have enough people express interest, then I think we have a shot at putting something together,

It's fine, I was busy questing and saw I had a few mentions to respond to and saw your post. I'll deff keep an eye out for the books. I've looked at them before when I've found them, but always put them back because I told myself I don't need to get more books. hugs I'll be glad when he's home and this deployment is over and I don't have to deal with the in-laws this much anymore. Everyone in his unit/battalion would return home later, all of their flights would be delayed. I'm tempted to tell Chris to not inform his parents about when he'll be home because they'll just make it more stressful. They'll have a camera along, and while yes it would be nice to have pictures, I have a feeling most of them would have bad timing and I don't need my crying face immortalized. I'd be fine with them not knowing and being surprised at home. Sure, my MIL will be pissed but she can get over herself. I'll talk it over with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law tomorrow when they pick me up for the family Christmas to see what they think. my brother-in-law couldn't believe that his dad shared Chris's exact location either. I was tempted to turn a fan on the other day because it got so warm in the house. I changed into a tank top and lost the sweater I was wearing and it was a little better. We still have some snow on the ground and every low spot on the ground is filled with water. It was supposed to rain yesterday but it didn't. That's the same way with Kansas. Sometimes you can experience all 4 seasons in one day. I can't take my glasses off either. I hate it when the glasses shift slightly and then I spend 5 minutes trying to get them back in the right place because everything looks wonky on screen. I saw Titanic in 3D when they re-released it in theaters for its anniversary, it was nothing special in 3D, maybe had a little more depth. I watched a documentary at an aquarium in 3D and that was the best 3D film I've watched, because it seemed like the animals were jumping off the screen at you. 4D films are fun too. I would get one after every 5th post maybe. You'd think after being on all day questing, I'd have loads of faeries.....nope....maybe 4 or 5. It would be so much easier if the release option was at the top instead of being at the bottom of the list of pets. I haven't even started deleting pumpkins yet because I have to feed carved ones to my pets. I have loads in my vault, I just don't want to start that headache yet. Bought a Switch today. The local Shopko is being shut down in February so they started their going out of business sale last week. It was only 20% off but they had 2 left. I looked on eBay at lunch today and decided I didn't want to go that route to get one because I think I found 5 listings that were a scam.

I signed up for the Secret Santa Shark last year, so if it was organized this year, I'd sign up again. I know starless organized it last year, or was at least one of the people who organized it.

It is always nice to have a buffer between you and the in-laws! I would deff not tell them. It may seem mean, but they can just get over it. His brother sounds more level headed. Hopefully he can say or do something to make it better. It does not feel like before Christmas weather. It is more like after Christmas waiting for spring weather! Yes exactly! I could not figure out how to describe it. It doesn't look like the 3D we would normally expect (like things flying off the screen at you) but they look like they have more depth. Not worth the extra money! I just don't think taking already made films and reworking them with 3D works right. It is a total pain in the rear. The option really is in an annoying place :( Let me know if you like it and if it would be worth it for a part-time sorta gamer to get!

Hey and Hi everyone!

It is and he is pretty-level headed, he has to be since he's a police officer. He agreed with me that it would better to not inform his parents, because he could easily see his mother getting too excited and sharing the news on Facebook. Chris told me yesterday that he's been told there will be no homecoming ceremony, they'll just come home and be released to go home. So the plan right now is that Chris will tell me when he's coming home, I will tell my brother-in-law the tentative date (because let's be real it could change or I could be informed the day before), so he can try to get off work and plan a day with his parents. I'll pick up Chris and then we will surprise his parents at their home, and if his mom can't get off work, we'll surprise her at Walmart. Which after talking it over with my brother-in-law, I realized that my MIL would never get enough notice to ask time off from work. So I don't know if she's expecting that Chris will know when he's coming home months in advance (at best he's been told a month he could be home) and then she just uses any vacation time she's accrued. She wouldn't be able to use FMLa to take time off at such short notice, I don't think. It does! The weather has been weird lately. Yesterday I wore a nice tank top and a sweater to the family Christmas and I stood outside for quite a while video chatting with Chris and the cold wasn't that bad. However, later in the day it was colder and I put the sweater back on. All I want is some snow on the ground for Christmas. I think a film maybe has to be shot specifically for 3D to work like we expect them too. I think the films nowadays, are just worked digitally to be 3D and that may be why we just see added depth, not things jumping/moving off or out of the screen. I did a quick google search on how 3D movies work and found something that said, some 3D films are filmed with dual lenses to get that effect, and some are made using computer generated images to get the effect, so that would mean existing films have to be worked through a computer program to replicate the images and work it into 3D. I have 21 pets, it's a pain to scroll to the bottom of the list every time I want to release a faerie or carve a pumpkin. It'd be better off if it was at the top of the list, less scrolling and I could breeze through it faster, because right now I scroll past it every time. 😢 I've bought 3 games for it so far and downloaded a free game. I bought Stardew Valley, Cat Quest (it was on sale), and Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu, the free game is a Pokemon game and I'm of the fence about it. I didn't get a chance to play any of the games yesterday when I got home because my cat jumped in my lap and refused to move for about 2 hours, but I'll try out some of the games today. The thing I like about the system is that you don't have to plug it into the TV to use it. You can if you want to, but you can stand it up on a surface and use the tablet as the screen, or you can attach the joy cons to the tablet and make it a handheld system and take it on the go. The Nintendo eShop has quite a few games and plenty of them are under $15, though those are mostly indie games. I'm pretty much a part-time gamer on my Nintendo systems, I tend to forget about them because I have to switch HDMI inputs on the TV or I let my DS die, so there may be times where I leave it sit for awhile. I looked through all the games available at Gamestop for the Switch and made a list of games I was interested to see if it was worth buying. I ended up with a list of about 15 games, but the game that really persuaded me to buy the system is the new Animal Crossing game that will be released next year in December. The system and games are Christmas gift to myself this year.

That sounds like a great plan :) I went shopping with my niece tonight and I didn't even have to wear a coat. Yesterday it was freezing out! I want it to start snowing on Christmas Eve, have a nice blanket of snow for Christmas and then melt away on the 26th lol. Luckily for me Emily is not a fan of 3D since they tend to cost more to see. Plus our theater that we always go to does not even show 3D movies. It has been my theater my whole life. We love going there :D I have 42 pets, so I know it is a pain in the rear to do all that scrolling! I will check it out. I need to find games and stuff that will keep Emily interested long enough to make it worth buying. Welcome Hun :) I will make some more trades as I get more fairies.

It is, and I hope that it's the plan that we stick with. The only difficult thing will be if my MIL or FIL message me or Chris multiple times asking for a homecoming date. I think there will only be so many times that I can't tell them I don't know, or I haven't been given a date yet, before they realize that I'm not telling them. I also hope Chris doesn't break down and tell them. I wore a light jacket today and I walked outside for a few minutes without one. Of course I had just gotten off of a little plane, so I needed to cool off a little bit. I'm done with my Christmas shopping, but I need to get started with Lumi shopping. I wouldn't mind if it started snowing late at night on Christmas Eve, so that way I can drive home on clear roads. I don't care if the snow sticks around for awhile, I kinda want to go sledding in a pasture this year, I haven't been able to for years.....though the last time I did I broke a finger. It's crazy how expensive 3D movies are. IMAX movies are even more expensive. The city Chris and I moved out of put in an IMAX theater a few years ago, we've watched one movie in IMAX just for the experience. There's a local movie theater near where I live that's been open since the 40's. I think it may have closed for awhile, then people in the community got together to reopen it and keep it open. It has reclining seats and the tickets are decently priced along with the popcorn (with numerous flavorings to add). I've only been there once, When my senior English class and the freshman English class went there to watch a Christmas movie that our teacher provided as a reward for working together on group projects. I didn't scroll past it too much tonight, but having to go from the bottom of the screen with the mouse to the top for the confirmation was a pain. I should have just used the keyboard to ok releasing the faeries but I didn't feel like moving out of my comfy spot in the chair. There's Super Mario Party and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as well as LEGO games. Gamestop has about 640 games listed for the Switch, but I didn't narrow that list down to just looking at them new or used.... I didn't get the Switch right away after it was released, because I there weren't that many games announced for it yet and I wasn't going to buy the system and only have one game. It would just end up sitting around after I got bored with the game, but now there are plenty of games to choose from. Thanks! 😄 I've almost released 600. Just wish I could catch more faeries so I could make progress on the achievement to catch them. Not too thrilled about the Ian quests for Dungarde. I only completed 12 out of the 15 today. He asked me for a sticker that's selling for 4.5 million o.O His payout isn't that great either, but I was skipping every quest that had me buying something over 40k.
