I started researching mine about 10 years ago - I've got some of it back to the 1780s (it helps that they all lived in one small area for about 150 years!) but one side of the family is proving a lot more challenging to figure out ;) I started using sites like Ancestry to find the census information, but I stick to their free weekend offers now, as the annual fee to access the detailed stuff is way too much for the small number of times I was using it ;)
