Found this on wikipedia that explains the old folklore: He was easily offended by careless lack of proper respect and lazy farmers. As the protector of the farm and caretaker of livestock, and his retributions for bad practices ranged from small pranks like a hard strike to the ear to more severe punishment like killing off the livestock or ruining of the farm's fortune. Observance of traditions was thought important to the nisse as he did not like changes in the way things were done at the farm. He was also easily offended by rudeness: farm workers swearing, urinating in the barns, or not treating the creatures well would do so under the threat of a sound thrashing by the nisse. If anyone spilled something on the floor in the house,
They would please the them with gifts. The modern santa clause "nisse" is a bit more friendly tho. ;)

Yep it tis :D I couldn’t help myself with it :D Haha fair enough. Ooh love Shallot’s name. :D Is he an onion? Yeah I’m sure he agrees. LOL well mystery then ;) I went to mum’s Doc appointment with her. Then a couple other errands and got home ate, then went to Petco to return a fish mum bought which was not looking good and a dead shrimp of mine. (yeah lost a 3rd one)
Ear surgery? -snugs- Read above for my day.
I wonder if that meant that the farm workers were more inclined to treat their livestock well, if they didn't want the nisse to do anything to them or the farm?
Originally Shallot was going to a chef who only cooked with shallots and onions, because that's all she could pinch from the neighbouring gardens :P but since they released the storm Kerubi, I figured she was more suited to growing prize-winning shallots and onions and despite being scared of thunderstorms, she dashes out in the rain to protect her crops form the storm :P How did your Mum's doc appointment go? And that's a shame on yet another shrimp, plus your Mum's fish not looking too good. How's the rest of her tank doing?
Dad spotted an unusual cloud this morning....
....is that just me, or do you also see a heart with an arrow going through it? o.O

Yeah, another ear surgery. :)
Sorry about the fish and shrimp. :( Hope the new ones will do well. :hugs:
Sounds likely to me, but I wouldnt know for sure. :)

I guess it made sense to keep the farmers on their toes in taking care of things, and not just be in it for money or whatever ;)
The Cornish goblins that my Gran told me about were known as "knockers" who were meant to have lived in the tin mines.... they got their name because apparently they would knock on the walls of the mine to warn miners if there was a collapse imminent, so they could get to safety. When the miners ate their Cornish pasties for lunch, they used the edges of the pasty to hold it as they ate, so they'd toss those pasty edges into the mines to thank the 'knockers' for keeping them safe ;) I don't know that any actually described what the 'knockers' were meant to look like though (as they lived in the dark corners of the mine, so I guess they weren't meant to ever be seen :P) ....Cornish folklore is a bit weird like that :P

haha I like the storm story better. It's cute and congrats on the potioning :D
It went well :) Her tank is doing well and she liked the fish I picked.
I see the heart :D
haha I don't think i've ever seen horns on Nimah before. you did great colour matching on that HA!
good luck sweetie! thanks
I hoped the storm story would work better, otherwise Shallot was a little too close to Pesky's story :P Awesome :D Thanks :D I wanted to use the glasses so I just tried colour matching the hair and everything else ;) The horns were because Niamh said the hair was lacking something :P ooo I like the knitting look with those cute slippers today :D

Its adorable. YOu did a great job with the glasses. I couldn't work with them in the wardrobe. LOL I find that all the time. I'm looking forward to having hair in a wig category so I can look for accessories easier. thanks :D had to use those new yarn balls.
admittedly I did ponder for a while if they'd be useable, seeing as they're a lot bigger than I'd normally go with. But Niamh was taken by the idea that they were ice cream coloured, so she insisted I got them ;) It looks perfect :D :D I nabbed those for Inga's treasure ;)

hehe XD not surprised. You got some for the wardrobe?
;) Yep, other than the plushie, I got two of everything that could be read / eaten / worn / added to a collection ;)
I think the zapper is 'broken'....
The zapper aims at Icier and makes them insanely happy for hours!

....either that, or Icier just likes getting "insanely happy" zaps :P that's the 6th or 7th one in the last three days ;)

wow you're on a little early today
excellent :D lol he does look insanely happy though :P ooh I see Nimah got a little doggy makeover. It's cute :D
yeah, 'sky man' is meant to arrive between 8am and 1pm.... so I had to be up, dressed and have had breakfast by 8.... well, 8 ish :P I just hope he doesn't leave it til 1pm to turn up :P hehe it seems to be that zap on a creepy grin species / colour combination ;) Thanks :D I wanted to do something a bit different, so the doggy wig was to kind of colour match her trousers ;)
ooo and your HA-less bunny looks really sweet too :D

ugh evil. And yeah that sounds like about right for the arrival :/ teeheeeheee its different XD thanks :D I just used a presaved lol.
Dad was told we'd have a phone call 24 hours in advance to say the time slot.... we had an automated voice recording phone call 48 hours ago, repeating the exact same thing (8am - 1pm). So dad rang them yesterday to ask them to confirm the time - he couldn't understand the person's accent, and thinks they said the 'sky man' will call today to say the time.... I think they meant the 'sky man' would turn up today, rather than call meaning to phone. So really we haven't got a clue o.O
hehe just put it down to Niamh experimenting with a spell that went wrong and gave her puppy ears for the day :P
laughs I thought I'd seen it before ;)

sounds about right :P haha. well maybe she can get grooming tips from Paddy :P hehe yeah, total cheat
:P ROFL I think Niamh's hoping the effects will wear off before she needs to do too much grooming ;) hehe well HA cheating is allowed occasionally ;)

Thanks hun :)
That is an awesome piece of history! I love folklore like that. ^_^ I bet it provided some comfort for the miners, must have been quite a dangerous job to hold. Giving them food, reminds me of people setting out a plate of rice pudding or cookies for the nisse/santa. :)

nods it's certainly not a job I would've wanted to do! My Gran's family came from Cornwall, so there's a lot of tin miners in my family tree ;) It's strange how that kind of creature seems to like human food ;) :D
