Today I went to see mum and we complained about the dinner plates I got for christmas, they were already looking really scratchy- not good enough for such expensive plates! Got a gift card- which I be using for some other plates. Hopefully with better luck. lol Got a hair cut too, which was really nice!

Maybe you have some samba in your blood then. 👼 I know some part of my family (not going far back mind you) is from the eastern parts of our country. And some west- and some from where I live now. but like I said, that is not going that far back. :)

hehe so far the most unusual I've come across is three that were born at sea on the way to / from Brazil laughs

I don't know if they have anything like this for Norway, but over here a lot of the councils have now started listing all the gravestones in the cemeteries they look after, on their websites - so you can search for the surname, and it'll even show a photo of the gravestones. That's saved a lot of hassle in trying to find particular graveyards (as they're mostly old ones that aren't well looked after now), but also meant I discovered a couple of people in my family tree I hadn't known about before ;)

That is incredible. Imagine giving birth under such condition, People lived harsh lives for sure!

That is a good tip! Not sure either if that is done here, but its worth looing into. :) Or maybe just reading up on how to proper research your family history. :) Some places even offer dna testing that will tell you a bit about your ancestry. :)

I think the boat journey alone would've been enough for me, let alone being pregnant at the time (then giving birth part way there!) o.O

Maybe there's a free session at a college or something like that, where they would show you some of the ways to go about starting - when I first started looking at mine (when I knew about the India connection, but hadn't found out any more than that), the University I was working at had a free one day course on going over the basics ;)
