Oh my goodness Subeta YOU DID IT YOU ACTUALLY DID IT. I LOVE THIS STORY YOU DID WITH DARKHEART OMG. I've been like this for years, wondering if he was every really all that bad, and the story and backstory for Melody and Darkheart and his family is great I'm just so happy it was done, and that we now have some context for Darkheart. I hope he still gives out coal gifts~!
Also, I gotta say, I love the ref for the toothpaste; I started singing the song in my head as soon as I read the lyrics

It was a fun, cute, and unexpected addition to the best gift day. ❤️ I really appreciated getting a little extra lore this year about characters that haven't had much done with them in a while. Thanks staff!

Melody: I’ve been around for longer than the Fryst, or even the ice floes that they call home.
So Melody is an elder god. Got it. But really, I was under the impression that she was still people, but maybe she's NOT people? What does that make her then? She has those little feathery wings. Is she the illegitimate offspring of the Oracle and the Wizard? They're pretty chummy. I wonder what her council would think of her going native like that. ha! Anyway, it'd be fun to see a little something else come out of this next year, even if it's just a little text change on his day (or even a redraw! one can hope, right?).
I loved this so much! It also introduced a new race to Subeta, the Fryst! I hope we learn more about them soon.

It's good to see Darkheart grow up a bit. Love the guy, but he always struck me as a rebellious teen.

I wasn't expecting so many feels! He calls him 'papa'! Too precious! I'm always open for some character development and expansion of the lore (hopefully we'll get more details in the subetapedia some time soon). The ancient-ness of Melody is also intriguing.

It was such a pleasant surprise to read the lore when I visited Melody today. I can so sympathize with Darkheart. He isn't half bad and learning and that minion he gifted us? Too cute for words.
I am curious about the Darkheart Phantom achievement though, it didn't trigger on this event for me. Is there another way to achieve it?

That was such a cute and unexpected story! Always love Subeta's attention to lore; it's what makes it more than a mindless browser game.
This was an adorable surprise. I do hope we get to see more Fryst and Darkheart.
