I guess I must be blocking/hiding somethings because when I first go into battle the page moves down. The page ends up just below where the "Choose Your Weapons" text is. Im not bothered by it. No scrolling for me at all. I wasnt too keen about the update last night/this morning, but now that you can choose to pre select or not, i like it. The pylonics was the only thing I still get messed up on, but now the are visual.

I don't mind it defaulting to the active pet for BQs. It still goes to the weapon select page, so it'd be the same number of clicks as it is now, right?

Anyway, time for a gushing love post. Love that the scroll images are back, even though I hope we can find a way to display more than 3 at a time (I still like 's idea of a pop-out box). Love that the annoying jumpy loading icon is gone. Love that the preselection toggle stays on or off till you change it. I was afraid that I'd have to select the option before each individual battle.

After the first update to the UI, I went back through and battled pretty much every opponent available with my T11 and omg it was so much better/faster than when I did the same thing with my T12 a couple months ago.

lol this post has pretty much nothing useful in it, I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with all this! c:

Looking to buy this!

I think it would be ideal to be able to show more potions and scrolls at once, similar to the current weapon selection. The issue is screen space. ... Be aware you can&;t make them too small because we don&;t want to make it too hard for the visually impaired...</p>
<p>But I&;m all for a better scroll/potion selection that shows more than 2-3 items at once, it&;s just an issue of figuring out how to utilize the space. I genuinely would appreciate if anyone has suggestions.</p>
<p>One thing I was thinking is that increasing the width (from 325 to 375 or 400) would allow more space, but that would cause the left-hand side to be smaller, which there seemed to be backlash against in the first place, so I&;m hesitant to shrink it more than it currently is. The left-hand side is the side that adjusts to your screen size by the way, stretching to fill the remaining space across the screen whereas the right-hand stays a fixed width.
This is why full page width use has been and would bee the ultimate solution. Both for the move part as well as the text part.

Make a box for each weapons/potions/scrolls - collapsible or scrollable, whatever, by CSS for those, who want any to be - below the pet/challenger header underneath each other followed by the "make your turn" button to keep it condensed. And all the text stuff underneath that button for the sake of those, who do not want to see it, which would of course lessen scrolling for us readers again.

Are those weird gibberish pages after the move caused by your experimenting around? I'm used to getting them every now and then but right now after every move? And a scroll bar on the "move" side.

Why actually is the new battle page in a box now at all? A box shorter than the window.

Totally agree with BoaConstrictor about the Box being way shorter and so you have to do the scrolling thing where last week I didn't have to scroll to see damages (which was very nice).

I wanted the box to stretch to take up the entire window height, but it proved very difficult to do with the code. Making it the same height as the window is still the end goal. For now the value for the fixed height was chosen as the best compromise for the variety of screen sizes people use.

It&;s nice to have the scroll images back, but I find the super narrow/tall scroll box awkward. I still think the best solution is to acknowledge that you can&;t compactly fit everything on the page as is, and to use a pop-up to display scroll and potion choices. Yes, it&;s an extra click because you&;d have to start by opening the pop-up, but then you see everything laid out clearly. I&;d find that so much faster than trying to scroll through the list we have now, where you only see ~2 options at a time and you have to be careful not to overshoot your target if you&;ve got a lot of stuff equipped.
If we can make it a hover instead of a click to activate the pop-up menu, I would be over-joyed! At least for how I battle (aka on a laptop, not a mobile device).

Could weapon/scroll choices be grayed out or something when you get frozen? It's confusing that they still look the same and still get highlighted on hover, but they just don't respond to clicks. Especially now that the battle text doesn't scroll back to the top after each turn, so the frozen icon might not even be visible. It makes it feel like the site crashed or something.

It would be cool if the battle text section reset to the top too, since it makes it more clear that your last turn was processed. I feel like a lot of the pro-autobattling people would be against it though... :/

Could the weapon box height be a fixed height, so when you use 4 OPB weapons, it doesn't collapse, causing the make turn button to move?

I would just say that even if in the short run its more confusing for you. I guarantee you that in the long run if you embrace the auto select system you will be much faster and more efficient.

BQ battles against someone like Saggi went from 30-90+ seconds to 4-5 seconds.

When I saw scrolls weren't being auto selected anymore, I thought it was a balance change, not a UI change.

With things like Gelatin wars being largely determined by how efficient you can be, it is going to be essential to learn the auto select system or your going to get left behind. I have a feeling this gelatin war the bar is going to be 5million for a core, but I have a feeling a TON of people are going to hit that number because it is so much easier to speed through battles, it could be much higher next time around.

Sorry, but I respectfully disagree.

When I want speed (Gelatin War or BQs though Level 20) the autoselect system is great - no disagreement there at all.

And there is not really any system to learn - it picks two weapons (the ones on the left) it uses them (it picks a scroll - the one on top - or the left) it uses it, if you want to change them you can. If I want to change my weapons or scrolls, I do it (paying attention to the blue arrow), if I don't want to I click Make Your Turn. Easy - to learn how the mechanics work. (Besides I have an MS in computer science and worked for many years as a software developer - including on the first release of cell phone software in the US - I can learn how to use almost anything on a computer - and have been through many iterations of system changes of all sorts).

My problem won't go away by embracing the auto select system or by using it more (or, I promise you I would have done that first before even speaking up). My problem is that - for tough battles - where I want strategy rather than speed - the data I need to be able to see all at one time in order to choose which weapons, which scroll and which potion to use the next turn isn't there to see any more. And since (as I learned back in college computer science classes) the human brain is able to handle 7 (plus or minus 2) chunks of data at one time - and since I'm probably already trying to handle more than that as it is - I can't afford to add another missing piece of data (like having to remember which potions I still have available and which ones I've already used) - I need to be able to see that on the screen in front of me.

It's true that I will learn to know more weapons and scrolls on sight. And as my main pet grows certain opponents will become less difficult. But until I have a capped pet there will always be some opponent that I need to think really hard to fight. So I'm going to keep needing to see that data available in front of me for a very long time to come. And when it's not there, and I make dumb mistakes, or lose my place, or just don't have the time to do as many battles because the thinking takes too long now, I don't have any fun. (This is a game, after all. It's supposed to be fun not just fast.)

With the old interface, I was often beating Surge two times a day in BQs. For each of those wins I needed ten or twenty or more battles. It often took me over an hour to get those wins. And I needed to get very lucky with my limited freezers, and I needed to take very calculated risks to maximize my limited healers and I needed to get lucky with blessing activation and even after all of that, sometimes, I needed a Negating Pylonic (and I needed to decide which battles to try that in and which turn because I don't have an infinite supply or infinite sP to replace them) and I just can't do all of that without seeing things on the screen in front of me while I work. And with the new interface it takes me so much longer to fight Surge that I just don't fight him anymore during BQs.

And, as far as the core goes, I might have an outside chance of managing 5 million in damage with Tos (my T9). If I get lucky with my AoN and my limited freezers and my one Perilous Whirlpool Scroll, I might be able to manage it with 2000 battles or about 250 a day. But my wrist won't survive clicking through 250 battles too quickly. And I don't enjoy just clicking for hours for anything. I'd rather quest for a month (or six months) and buy something (or even just do without it), than sit and be miserable for hours on end and have a sore wrist for days. And there are other things I need to do like beat the TBT challengers with my 4 pets and beat another 2000 Mini Gelatins (or at least make some progress there) and try to beat 10 Gelatin Wizards to win the concoction (which will be hard for me at T9). Not to mention other non battle things both on Subeta (like the Quest-A-Thon and Wayward Squirrel for both of which I already have commitments} and in real life.

But I'm one of the lucky ones who has already earned a core. My very first serious boss battle was the last Gelatin War and two of my three pets (the ones I spent serious time battling with) were top 10 percent of their tier - my main (then T8) and my baby battler (then T2) who was first in her tier and won my core (something I didn't even know anything about at that time). I know I might need a second one to make the essence, since it's one of my best weapons and I still have lower tier pets, but I have time since I have no pet that can use the essence now.

I love battling for the challenge (and the other battlers!) so I want to spend time and enjoy it. I understand not wanting to have things lag or be super slow, but, to be very honest, I don't understand the point of just making everything faster. If I'm actually having fun, I don't always want to make it go by faster. (And if you're not having fun, then what is the point of playing?)

Just to be totally clear though, I am absolutely one hundred percent behind keeping autoselection as an option for those who want it (and for others like me, who want it sometimes too). I just want to make clear that it has real deficiencies for some of us at times. And I also want to mention how much I appreciate and for listening to everyone and trying to make battling fun for all of us - and especially to for doing the extra work to provide options to make that possible.

These are 2 completely opposite statements, I was only commenting on speed and efficiency not aesthetic. I think you also underestimate the efficiencies that you can get out of automating your opening blaster sequence for challengers that require blasting.

So there's a problem with your active pet being autoselected: I am not training my tier 12 pet, because I got tired of 10 hour training times. I am, however, training a tier 7. This pet is set as my active pet because that allows me to monitor its training time with the battle pet widget. Being my active pet, this pet is autoselected at the staging page for battles.

My default weapon set is selected with the warning that I can't use it for a T7 pet, which is fine. My default scroll set now unselected with the warning that my default pet doesn't have enough AP for it. This causes me to end up in battle without a scroll set defeating the point of having a default set at all. I couldn't see that this happened at first because it's off the page.

In order to accommodate the UI changes I have to select my default scroll set every battle or swap active pet every time I want to battle then swap back in order to preserve the ability to track training time, or give that up and leave my T12 that I am not training as the active pet and lose that widget functionality.

This could be solved by keeping the default scroll set selected even if the active pet cannot use it the same way the default weapon set is.

Then again, and this sounds salty, I'm not the kind of player this UI is designed for. All I get is the impression that everything I do is wrong.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. It's something I completely overlooked - I didn't realize it deselects your scroll set when your pet doesn't have enough AP.

I think a good solution would to make it work the same way the weapons do: It gives you the warning that you don't have enough AP to use it, but it's still selected. Just like how your weapon set will warn you you're not high tier enough to use it, but still selected (that's how it works now, right? I haven't double-checked, just basing this on what you said.)

Please don't feel like everything you do is wrong! You pointed out something important that I completely didn't notice, I appreciate that.

Yes, the weapon set stays selected and has a text warning on it that your pet cannot use it if it has weapons too high for its tier. You also get an error page if you try to enter battle with it selected.
