The last time I was in the forest, I wasn't paying attention (much like always) and my friend shoved me down a hill. Maybe. It could also be that he nudged against me and my innate clumsiness pushed me down the hill. I admit nothing.

The theme of this box reminds me of the time we went on a holiday with the family. I think I was about 7 years old at that time. My parents had looked at the maps of the area and there were paths you could follow through the forest, we chose the red path, which was the shortest as we wanted to bring the puppy with us and we didn't want him to walk too long. Unfortunately somewhere along the path there was a second red pat and we walked the wrong way there, not knowing about that second path, as it hadn't been on our map. My father had to carry the puppy eventually. We did find our way back, but it did take us a couple of hours to get there and we were all exhausted when we finally made it back. It's a nice memory, as we did have a lot of fun together.
The forest always reminds me of camping. When I was 8, I went camping near the finger lakes. The weather forecast was pretty good, and for Day 1-6 it was exactly what we expected. However, on the night of the last day, I woke up in the middle of the night and it was pouring rain. It was raining like I had never seen before, our tent completely flooded and we had to pack everything and sleep in the car. Woke up the next day with a cold that lasted 2 weeks, which brought me to the end of my summer vacation. That was the first time I went camping... also the last to this day xD
I just got back from a trip to Washington so this theme makes me think of evergreen trees and hiking in nature
Day 2 Entry:
The theme forest makes me think of Lord of the Rings. I'm not really sure why (probably the elves, especially Legolas and his home kingdom Mirkwood) but the theme forest always makes me think of Lord of the Rings.
added to box A!
nope it's not! Added you to box B n_n
the 8 public slots of the background have all been taken, however there are 2 extra copies being given away in the event (the HA contest at the moment + another copy in the next few days!)
im sure there will be some copies for sale eventually! I'm currently evaluating how to distribute boxes, methods etc. n_n
my bad, I thought we were starting with the HA contest but I meant to write 'event'! As said, there will be a HA contest in the next few days though! x3
The theme this month really makes me want to go hiking lol. Unfortunately where I live we have some walking trails further out, but nothing involved with seeing local wildlife. If I'm ever able to go back to San Francisco again I'm definitely signing up for the Yosemite Park trail hike. :)
The forest was always a safe and magical place to me...a place where animals talked and faeries and elves roamed freely. I especially loved the very wild places. Where the trees had grow so tall that light could only shine through in beams. The roots and floor of the forest had been covered by moss. The trees had mushrooms growing on them. There was always something new to see. Amongst all that I enjoyed the natural silence. It is a place I felt and still feel is home. I guess thats what I think about.

- The theme brings back very happy sentimental memory of the Michigan countryside sixty plus years ago. My happiest memory is going Trillium looking (looking for trilliums). Every Sunday after church services which was misery for a small child to sit thru listening to hell and brimstone sermons we did our weekly car ride thru the country. But at a certain time of year when trilliums bloomed we actually drove to a certain woods walked an animal pathway thru the background woods to where the trilliums were blooming. This is the happiest memory. I loved the trilliums. It is a strange bitter sweet memory for me. It is the happiest memory of a childhood shattered by divorce of my parents when I was seven. (Back in the 50s divorce was unheard of and in a small farming country town whispered about.)
This theme reminds me of hiking out in the wilderness, especially since I just recently moved out west where scenery of this sort is very common.
Box B please.
This month's theme reminds me of my childhood and the yearly camping trips my family would go on. I have many fond memories of walking in the early morning with my dad and coming back to camp with breakfast waiting for me. Life was simpler back then.

Share a memory related to this month's theme, or tell us what it makes you think of. (The theme is Forest). I love the forest! I go to the park multiple times a week and it winds through a small forest in my town. I love riding my bike through it and hiking! When I was little my favorite thing was going camping in the state park. Forests are in my blood :)
added to box B, thank you x3
The forest was an refuge for me in my younger days, sitting within cedar trees, picking wild raspberries. Running through the forest alone or with my siblings, wild, free, learning edible plants, mushrooms. How to build shelters, track, play. Long walks with my childhood dog, training for competition, playing man hunt, jumping down sand banks, fishing in streams, exploring off the path, seeking out to sleep in the woods, climbing trees, playing tag, making potions, and being wild beings of legends, tobogganing, skiing, laughing, singing. So many good memories of my family, pet, friends and nature.
I now work for a wild food company and many of things I learned in my childhood, I have expanded on today.
❤
Oh wow, I was really not expecting that! Thank you! ❤️
Forest, hmm…My mom and I drive out to this dairy farm every week to get milk. It's way out in the country and the road goes through a lot of woods to get there. I read to my mom a lot when we go (she does the driving, I provide the entertainment), and even during the day, I sometimes need to use a flashlight to see the page in the thicker parts. We see deer pretty often. Sometimes they run off quickly; sometimes they stick around and we stop the car and watch them stroll across the road or hang out at the edge of the trees watching us. Lots of cute fawns in the spring, too. ^_^
The theme for this box makes think of the deer lease we used to go to. I wouldn't hunt but I got to see lots of animals while I was out there!
That forest background reminds me of my uncle's cabin in mid Michigan. He build it himself and we go up there every now and then to enjoy the scenery. My favorite memory of being there was when my family left and I was alone in a cabin in the woods with only my book and knitting. So peaceful.
My Memory is when I would go camping and run in the forest nearby as a small child with one of my cousins that I haven't got to hang with anymore. But, i see her at all my family events. :D
Not sure if suppose to ping or not for shared memory of the forest...but here is mine...
Growing up, my neighborhood was surrounded by a Wildlife refuge park. Now I would like to say this happened once in my teens, but I have to be honest and explain that it happened twice. The first time was with my one brother that is much older then me and the other was with my best friend at the time. We decided to go for a walk on some of the trails in the woods. WHY ON EARTH they would believe me when I said "I know where we are going, lets go this way!" is beyond me. I am the least outdoorsy know where I am going type of person. BUT they listened and followed. Hours later and much lost in the woods, my brother and I finally came out in a neighborhood on the opposite side of the mountain, which driving by car to get to was 40mins. Now my best friend and I came out closer about a 15 minute drive. BUT we came out on the inside of a nudist colony. They didn't fence in the back side since it faced hundreds of acres of woods and never expected people to stumble into it. Needless to say I rarely go into the woods now. LOL
Dunno if I'm supposed to be pinging for the contests or not ^^;;
I haven't had many experiences in forests but the theme makes me think of the wooded area that surrounded a cabin my dad once rented at a lake in Washington years ago. I don't know if it counted as a forest or not but the area was gorgeous. The highlight of the trip was definitely all the wildlife. There were beavers and families of raccoons with their babies. <3
