My family has some woody property as well as forestland around our house. When I was little, I'd take my toys in play in the mayflowers a lot or look for forts that older kids built. In particular, the the BG reminds me of a time I went walking and looked up to find a baby raccoon following/staring down at me. c:

Hm my favorite memory is visiting Indiana Dunes State Park/National Lake Shore. I used to live about 15 minutes from there growing up and we'd go ALL THE TIME. We'd go so often that we knew almost all the trails by heart and knew how to get from point a to point b and back again. The amazing thing is walking through the dense forest and taking in all the flora and fauna and getting to a point where you are on dunes and looking out onto Lake Michigan. My grandpa would even have his birthday party every year in October in one of the park shelters. It was always so much fun. I remember the chili they'd make would be amazing, and having apple cider. My mom was my girl scout troop leader and we went to the park as well quite a bit. /long post whoops.

This month's theme(and the bg) make me think of when my sister's and I would walk the trails in our woods and we would take the dogs with us. It was peaceful and scenic and so nice to get out of the house for a while~

Not anywhere near enough csc for a box, but I love the items in them especially the wig and veil!

Congrats, !!! :D

When I think of forest it reminds me of The Lord of the Rings, Ireland and Scotland (two of the places I'd love to visit someday!), and also reminds me of one of my family holidays; they were lovely :D

There's a nearby place called Lick Creek where people like to take their dogs and such to play around (before we had gotten a public dog park). Behind Lick Creek is a huge wooded area. My dad, during the spring and summer, would pick us up every other weekend and take us out there. It started out as just short little walks through a path he had made for us (we were only 8 and 3 at the time), and eventually we started going further in. Within just a few minutes, it opens up to a little sand bank and a slow moving pool where the creek masses. He started bringing spare clothes so we could play in the water. While we played in the water, he stayed on the bank and sifted through quartz and rocks, random pieces of driftwood, and Indian beads. I found my first Arrow Head back there. We started pushing further back when we were about 12 and 7. Bringing lunches with so we didn't have to turn around. Eventually, after a good hour of walking, we found a spot where it has a mini run-off that's kind of like a waterfall (but not really, kind of more like the decorative ones you use for yards and stuff that just have a small stream?). It opens up into a HUGE basin where we could swim and not just kind of splash around in the water. Dad and I were up on the bank, looking for treasures in the dirt, and suddenly we heard a lot of splashing. Turned around just in time to see my little brother go under. Dad says that he didn't even have a chance to drop the stuff he was holding; I was already in the water and halfway to my brother before he could move. It was scary, and it took my little brother a few weeks before he wanted to go back, but it has remained a tradition regardless. Can't let one scary experience ruin it for life, y'know?

i live in the tropics so i only have jungles rather than forests, but it still reminds me of the time where once when i went overseas, someone asked if people in my country exclusively lived on trees and wore loincloths D:

but the trees in our jungles are very dense. i rarely go there, but on the few times that i've been, i recall seeing spiders the size of my palm. and the story of when my friend saw one of those spiders in his tent, and while contemplating whether he should get rid of it, it fell on his face.

GOOD TIMES I TELL YA (but i wouldnt want it on MY face)

Where i live i am blessed to have so many wooded areas as well as a beach, but I always get a huge calming sense when ever I walk among the trees, just listening to the silence, trying to hear nature around, I also get a feeling joy when driving under a canopy ( avenue of trees lined either side of the road ) and their branches and leaves meet in the middle giving of a diluted green tinge when the sun shines through

The forest makes me think of my dad. We live in different countries now (just because that's how life goes) but when I was little, we would go to the forest reserve near my house and hike the trails. We hiked a lot in my teens. We hiked some "mountains" too; the elevation wasn't super high but we were up high enough to watch the clouds make shadows across the farms below. They're very special memories for me. I think I'll go call him now haha <3

The theme reminds me of my most beautiful vacations of my childhood, in forest house, when I cared for nothing but burrying my face into the fresh moisty leaves, smelling the amazing scents of the summer trees and sitting on the balcony, reading my favorite fantasy book, surrounded by bees and birds. Pure bliss... and beauty.

Today's theme reminds me of Arkansas. Once a year my family goes there for family reunion (mom's dad side) and we stay in cabins at Devils Den Park. It's perfect because there is no wifi or signal, so nature is enjoyed more. The trails are wonderful and it's peaceful. I enjoy it because it's a nice getaway from daily noise and commotion.

A few months ago my Art and Nature in Healthcare class (a biology elective at my college) went out for our final class session. We'd done a lot of field trips to various natural places, and this time was no different. We went out to this forested area, and even though it was just off a couple of roads, when you got inside of it it felt like it went on forever. The trees were large and old, adding to this impression, and the ground dipped and varied wildly. For a while we walk along this small gorge to get to where we were going. Everything was green and brown and so alive, and I definitely want to go back there again.

We ended up going to see the largest butternut tree in the state, haha. It sounds silly, but it was really impressive! The branches were so spread out, and it was interesting to look up and see how that cleared out trees around it, like it was in the middle of a clearing because it was so big no other trees could handle being by it.

This month's theme reminds me of the summers I spent both attending and eventually working at a Girl Scout camp. I loved going back every summer, and that place felt more like home than my parents' house ever was. Hiking in the forest trails, canoeing down the river, relaxing in our tents, picnicking on the grass, riding horses across the camp, feeling like I was in a whole other world. I miss that camp, and I'd go back to work for them in a heartbeat if I could. We were surrounded by forest and it was honestly the best I've ever felt, being there. I never wanted to leave.

Forest Memory! Which is sort of a good/bad one, now that i'm in a safer place to look back on it. >->

Some friends and I went on a road trip a couple of hours up, and at one point in the afternoon we started a hike. The hike was about 3-4 hours and when we were done, we went back to the car and...realized the person carrying the keys had dropped them somewhere on the trail.

From then on until midnight it was absolute chaos. Most of our stuff was in the car (including chargers, cooler of food, etc) so about half the group stayed to wait at the car and keep watch while the other half (including me) went to run over to trail again. We got to the halfway point seeing nothing, and by that time it was already getting dark! :( We had to call parents and AAA to get someone to come up (it was a remote-ish area) to help us get into our car. And by the time we were doing the second half of the trail to get back to the car it was absolutely pitch black and my phone was the only one left with battery. It's a really forest trail so we were hearing wolves and HUSTLING back.

And also, when we got back to the car, it was absolute chaos. One of our friends was throwing up blood in the corner of the parking lot. Two of them were laughing their butts off and also crying at the same time.

( Apparently what had happened to them was that they were thinking of calling 911 (freaking out), but eventually settled on calling AAA too. The person with the phone farted during the call, which made the one person that was sick in our group start gagging and laughing so much she started to throw up blood. Then the AAA person thought they were being prank called cause there was so much laughter and hung up. )

But EVENTUALLY a person came to help us get our stuff from in the car. So past midnight we were all walking down a lone street, cold and carrying everything we could trying to get to a hotel.

Next day we went on the trail again, and found the keys. :/

Share a memory related to this month's theme, or tell us what it makes you think of. (The theme is Forest).

Honestly this months theme reminds me of the tales i was told as a kid. Im a city girl now but was raised in the country. There were always tales of the guardians they had good ones and bad ones but they all protected the forest ... As a grown up i know that we were just told these to keep us out of the woods but as a child they were both mystical and terrifying and kept us entertained.

Forests make me think of wonder and life. I love the peaceful feeling of a "silent" forest. I put silent in quotes because if you're paying attention there is so much to be aware of. Sometimes I even feel like the trees are talking to one another. ^_^

The items in this month's box remind me of my dog, Buffy. It's really in two ways - the most obvious is that the pretty colors in the wig remind me of her coat. She's brindle and can easily blend into the colors of fall foliage.

The other way is all the walks I've shared with her in our great local state park. I love walking with her during all seasons of the year, feeling small among all the trees, and seeing the deer and other wildlife that live there.

My forest memory is a little vague since I was a kid. But we were camping up somewhere in the woods and my sister and I were running around in these big pine trees with sunlight streaming down. It is a lovely memory. The ground was so soft from the fallen needles and the smell was fresh and great. I miss camping sometimes.

We had woods behind our house and I could easily climb our fence to get into the woods, but getting back into our yard required me to go all the way around through the streets. Until one day I decided to be an enterprising 12 year old and nail some boards onto the other side so I could climb them to get back over. I don't think I asked my parents permission, but I think they liked my enthusiasm. :)
