- If I had to guess, I'd say owning that many of one item is "ok" as long as they're sitting in a shop not being moved. In that case, it should just take up one row in the DB like you said.
But if someone has 850k free beer sitting in their shop, they could very easily hit the "remove all" button, which would be disastrous. I know inventory items are assigned unique item IDs, so at that point you'd completely break the site. (Granted that could be prevented with proper inventory limits, but that's another issue.)
I don't know for sure though?
Actually wait, how does the new limit work? I interpreted it as 250 different types of items, but no limit on each of those stacks. So you could still store all 850k free beers in a single shop, and the problem isn't solved at all. Is it 250 items total? Because if that's the case, these limits are going to hurt more than I thought:
Items (Unique) 79,108 (14,035)
That would be 78,858 items I won't have a place for. :D

Mh, well. I'd probably not bother with galleries in that case. I'd be focused on getting my shop big enough to actually use. And TCs. I love the idea of TCs.
I took the opportunity to go through my galleries and get rid of things my pets no longer wanted. (There should have been a smilie after that but emoticons aren't working again.)
Like some other players I'm not 100% confident that everything will be safe left in the legacy galleries when the new system comes in. I decided I'd rather put everything away than risk having to send in tickets, all supposing I could remember every item that might go missing.
But of course you have a point there, even though I doubt, with those masses in vaults now items would be safe in there any longer, either :(
Fair enough, Everyone has their own things they enjoy on the site :) I also really enjoy finding cute things for my pets TCs. It's a nice feature, I just couldn't handle 3700 items in one unless they figure out some way to combat the lag that so many items in them would cause.
It seems as if Keith has found an easy way for moving shops, still:
The site has been shut down for server moves and different changes before, this can be done for moving stock to new shops,I don't think anybody would mind. Or automatically transfer small batches of shops over a stretched period of time - alphabetically, by account age, which ever criteria. I can't imagine anybody would be cross, if they are at the back end, as long as they don't have to go through the ordeal of manually doing it themselves. Or if not done automatically by the site you just say: Now accounts starting with letter "E" can start moving their items - simply to alleviate the pressure when everybody wants to do it at the same time.
Yeah, I'm definitely not moving stuff as it is, much to much work for me. Escpecially since a solution seems to be under way.
Yeah for sure XD I think if you want a complete collection galleries are for sure easier.
I would be willing to bet that I've got one of the largest kitty galleries on site. And it's far from complete. It still has way more than the new limit of items. THE INTERNET IS ALL CATS. :)
Well at this point the only things that concern me is the days or more it will take to transfer and recategorize everything into new shops/galleries and the low item limits. I hope the limits will be raised so I don't need 6 galleries and 4 shops. And that they make a way to get more shops/galleries maybe by paying for them. I moved some stuff into a new gallery and a few items into the new shop but right now I'm not going to do anything else until this is in place and working. Don't want to risk losing anything. Oh and by the way I see that the auto pricer for the new shops is working now. Great.

I'm eager to get to the final whatever-is-planned and have useable collections, galleries, whatever. All of it. This transition period is a pain in the butt. I hope there's some serious improvement after this.
- so excited to see that Subeta will now have code review and also to see you talking about working on User Experience and user-centered design and concepts. I think those will make a huge difference going forward.
Also happy to see help starting to arrive for those users dealing with tens of thousands of items that need to be moved around.
I would love to also see some attention being paid to improving user/staff communication - especially during times of crisis. I would be very interested in doing anything that would be helpful in this regard. Especially if it would make things easier/calmer for everyone.
You and the rest of the staff have done a great job making Subeta a wonderful and inclusive place to be. Thank you.
@ poppet - No worries, I'm just frustrated with the whole situation. Sorry if I came across as rude. :/
Day 6 and it's still getting worse. I don't know anymore. After the way was blown off by Keith, I'm really over this. I have no confidence left in Keith or Subeta as a whole. Yes, he's working on a "remove all" feature, but he's deliberately ignoring certain users and their questions and suggestions.
Unless things change, I'm not logging on as much as I used to. My fiance might outright quit. This is business you're losing from both of us, as I was planning to spend a decent amount of money on CSC and a 1 year GA once I got a job.
I'm still going to try to fight against this change as it stands. But, I'm done asking the same questions that will never be answered.
The question about why the GA to non-GA gap is so large won't be answered. It's "we need money, so let's make Subeta pay to win". The Keith quote about unlimited galleries won't be answered. "I was silly" is the best answer you're going to get. I signed the petition, so I hope this will mean something. The issue about bad timing won't be answered.
I give major props to and for doing the best they can despite their personal circumstances. I hope they're taking care of themselves and are okay.
Good luck to the users that are for the change or are just waiting it out. I hope Subeta treats you better than it has to others users.
It's ridiculous to see staff say 'As we said before' or anything along those lines.
Does staff really not see how broken the trust is?
Subeta is not, and will not be pay to win. We've already talked about the gap (I believe posted about it?) that we intend to make that gap significantly smaller when we raise the limits. CC / we are addressing this. We've removed some of the biggest perks from GAs in the past year and thought this was a good place to add some back in, but went overboard and are going to make some changes.
We're also looking at lowering treasure chest prices (this is something and have been talking about internally) and making that system more manageable. has a lot of experience here so we're relying on her ;)
💖 ✨ 🤗
Repeating myself from my last post - what about the minion zoo? Is it dead? I understand not wanting to spoil anything if it's still in the picture, but a ridiculous amount of time passed without any word on it. It would be a great solution for minion galleries.
The non GA/GA ratio is fine, Keith. Keeping a 1:2 ratio is reasonable, and a good GA boon.
It's the 250 items per shop that's making me tick a little.
WHAT'S THAT, A SHOP FOR ANTS?
1000/2000 would have been a better starting point, considering how many items are on site. And then, scale from there.
The problem with GA accounts having extra shops is that many players don't have a GA all year. If I get a GA and have extra shops I'd hate it if I couldn't take profits from the tills whenever I was back to having a normal account.
A 10K charge for extra treasure chest slots could make more people willing to spend their sP.
I'm wondering about that minion zoo as well. I don't even collect minions. Actually I don't collect anything, besides treasure chest stuff. Everything I just find amusing is in my vault. But it's been forever - if the battle thing is holding it up, please scrap it. It's dumb anyway lol
