850k!!! FREE BEER! ahaha....I dare you to dump it all in the DC....I did that with about 20k free beer when I first joined the site. I got so much hate over it and people anon sending me free beer gifts which they got from the DC, In the end staff had to delete it all because of the complaints but christ, 850k!!!!! LOL
I understand the need to redo the shops. I also understand the need to start small and increase limits etc. What a lot of us are concerned about is this from the original news post.
I've been here over 11 years. In the old days you said that GAs were supposed to give players a few perks, not create a system where GA players had a big advantage over ordinary account players. The above quote indicates that it's only worth having more than 3 shops and galleries if we can have a GA all year. If we don't we'll lose access to 3 shops and 3 galleries. This is what is making a lot of people angry.
One of my galleries was for pet treasures. Yes, I know we have treasure chests but I rarely use them for the following reasons -
Large treasure chests are a nightmare to work with. It wouldn't be so bad if we could arrange things into categories so we weren't faced with a wall of items which have to be slid around to order them and then slid around again whenever we add something new.
The cost of increasing the size of a chest is horrendous - 150K sP for the chance of 1 -3 extra slots with a magical keepsake box or 100K sP per slot if you want to increase the size from the treasure chest page. Maybe it's time to forget about this as an sP sink and reduce the price to something reasonable.
Well, after reading s answers, I feel better about this change. What bugged me most was the limit on shops, and it seems like the limits will be raised in good time.
I still wish this had been explained BEFORE it was a definite thing and in the news and that there had been a response in order to 'calm the masses' sooner. And that the difference between GA and non GA weren't so ridiculously annoyingly high.
But well /optimistic
(I also agree that decreacing treasure chest prices would help. I and a lot of other people keep a gallery specifically to hoard items we want in treasure chests but are presently not wanting to spend millions on TC spots)
I don't think decreasing TC prices will do much tbh, Not many people would want to keep 1000's of items in a pets TC, Even if it was free because once you have more than a few hundred in there, It takes forever to load them! 10k items you will be waiting for days :o
Oh really? I guess I've never had enough to have that problem D: Still a Few 100 still already pretty expensive, so I'd take years to get there.
It seems pretty clear to me that it's going to be a long while before the new shop/gallery system is stable, and I'm not feeling very optimistic about the limits being raised much, either. I don't trust moving all of my items over just to see them get lost in a glitch of some sort (which, no offense, happens a lot on Subeta) so... I guess I'm dismantling my entire gallery and putting it in my vault.
Thing is, I'm not sure I'll have the motivation to take it back out, or when I'll feel comfortable enough that my items are safe and/or I won't have to pay consistently for a GA account to have enough room to do so. I know this site is most certainly not all about me, but I'm also sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. I haven't wanted to price anything in my shop. It's just too up in the air right now.
Yeah sometimes I see people with large TC and it takes so long to show all of the items that I can't be bothered and give up. I'm one of those annoying people that are all for fees though and I think we should have fees on the new shops/galleries to help with the hoarding issues, From what I posted in another thread
Charge for shop/gallery increases - Something like 10k per space. 50k for 5 spaces, 100k for 10 spaces etc. People can increase their gallery as and when they need to but it discourages the people who want to keep 500k of one item. Want to keep 500k free beers in your gallery? Sure, but it's going to cost you like 5B, Will make people think again...
I mean, It would cost me like 37m to be able to store all of my minions at that rate and I'm ok with that, As long as I can put them all in one place I'll be happy!
A decrease to TC costs would be awesome, as a TC person. And at least it would give people an option to actually display their collections. I've always put my collections in TCs and it works well for me with 1k or less items per (so far). I'd have a lot more if spaces were more affordable for the amount I use.
But honestly it feels like TCs are just waiting to be on the chopping block.

Large treasure chests take forever to load because they are just one wall of items. Shops, galleries and the vault have pages and we can organise items into categories. Surely it's time that treasure chests were put on the same system.
From the news post -
The new system won't stop people being able to keep 500K free bears in their gallery if they want to. It only affects the number of different items people can have.
These limits are only for unique items, you&;ll be able to have as many duplicates as you&;d like.

I personally wouldn't want to see my pets tc on a page number system, Unless they make it look pretty and it's like a book/journal type thing, Otherwise it's just ugly and unnecessary? :9
As for the second comment, I know that....that's why I suggested a fee PER ITEM, So it will discourage people from hoarding that many items...Cool, you can have your 500k free beers.....but it will cost you 5B sP just for the privileged of keeping them there doing nothing.
Some chests have compartments so a treasure chest system could be arranged like that.

500K of one unique item isn't causing any server problems. It's hoarding thousands of unique items in galleries in case they come in useful one day. If people can't have them in a gallery they'll just store them in their vaults instead. Does that mean we'll end up with restrictions on how many unique items we can keep in our vaults?
Well that treasure chest is pretty so if they could implement something like that (Not sure how it would work....) I would think most people would be happy with that :)
No. Keith just told Psychedelia not one page ago that her hoarding 850k free beers is part of the problem that is draining the servers. So I don't think that that's true at all?
I've painfully learned within my first months on site, pre achievement time, that you have to shell out a fortune for old, special or super rare items. Therefore I made a point in my game play, to hold on to everything event related or retired, to get back my spent money eventually. It does work out a bit after many years and much patience, even though Subeta has more recently been doing a good corrupting job, re-releasing stuff (naturally just not the item that I personally would need - or still out of reach *hello omen islands weapons) as I'm getting close to selling it or after I have bought something for a fortune and thus making it completely worthless (e.g. bargain purchase of a Malerias Cursed Arm Bangle for only 250 mio! Worth now ...?...)
But still, for the record it's still better to hold on to items in the long run. And I guess it will always be. Quite honestly it would also make the game pretty boring, if everything was too easy to achieve.
And, yes, where do you expect us to collect items from new change onwards.
If that's the case it makes nonsense of the news post which says -
Surely as many duplicates as you'd like includes 850K free beers? (I was going to add a confused Emoji code here but they don't appear to be working again.) The reason I'm confused is that we've also been told that the hoarder achievements for shops and galleries are causing the problem -
"Hoard 1,000 different items in a gallery!" with the highest number being 45K. And
"Have 10,000 items (including duplicates) in your shop or gallery at once!" with the highest number for this being 45K.
How is having umpteen unique/duplicated items in vaults going to affect the site? I emptied my galleries and other shops and arranged them in categories in my vault. The gallery items will have to stay there until the gallery limits are increased to something realistic.
Also, what has been bothering me all these days: If you are rewriting the code to something alledgly better and truly functional, why would it not be able to deal with the shop load the current "bad" code has fairly successfully handled for so long.
A proposed starting number of 250 does in no way compare to 25000!
I'm not disagreeing with you, I have no idea about programming/coding how things like this work (Although I would have assumed that all 850k generate some kind of code into the server, Not just be classed as one item? idk)
But Keith said -
So the two statements contradict themselves, I even asked Ariel the same question like 10 pages back about it and her reply was 'Hoarders are going to hoard' So none of it makes no sense to me, But I'm all for the shop/gallery fees. If nothing else it would suck some sP out of the economy, Which is still a huge separate issue
There is a total of 2,159,578,460,654 sP
:o
I'm exasperated, so I'm sorry if I sound incoherent or rude. Not meant to be.
I'm all for discouraging hoarding. I'm all for limits. But I feel like this was the wrong way to go about it. Yes, you did say there would be limits put in place in forum posts, but we really didn't have an ETA on this, because subeta soon is just this vague idea we can't wrap our heads around. So can you really fault us for feeling like this was sprung on us?
I feel like slowly phasing this out would have been best. Warn about retiring the hoarding achievements then retire them with some sort of item sink event and then give an ETA on limits. This sudden oh btw hoarding is a problem you have a few days to get your items together news post was just really badly done. :l
I think in 29+ pages in this thread everyone's already said the above and a whole lot more, so I'll refrain from posting anymore.
Just extremely bummed it is being handled like this and I'm not even a hoarder, just a themed gallery owner.
To be honest, saying that 850k free beers is putting a strain on the system in utter nonsense. Why? Because there aren't actually 850,000 items in that table space. It's a single image with a number attached to it that dictates how many actions (in this case, "buying" one) can be performed before the image is removed from the page.
However, since these 850k beers are in a gallery, and thus not being sold, they (should) have the same "weight" as one single item in a shop. Because all it is, is one single image being drawn from the server.
I mean, unless there's some seriously screwed-up coding under the hood that generates 850,000 items. But that would be nobody's fault but the person who did the coding...
You can have up to 3 shops/galleries, or up to 6 with a Gold Account

This is why I'm solidary to my friends who are never want to use a GA on this way. The staff may know what makes it the best seems to do. To me it feels as a too big difference between GA-members and non-GA-members. Just my opinion.
For this reason I still hesitate to participate the beta test. I'm not saying I decide to refuse participate, because I am happy to read that the staff are pleased to also accommodate users without a GA.
However I am still hesitating. Shrug
Re: New dump for items - lol For all my years here I've been atrociously collecting cheap items to give to the Recycle Beast once he asks for it. Thus I made it to 300k or so points all along. How do you want to achieve that without hoarding? Hoarding is the only gameplay, unless you want to be here only 5 minutes a day have 1 pet to feed and keep happy and fullstop.
All those currencies we have here now! They all need to be hoarded, if you want to be able to get hold of items.
