"Well things are going brilliantly," Magnus thought dryly as the giant spider caused one of his best friends to storm off and he was torn between going after her and the club. But he had a responsibility to the club and his father--who would probably be furious with him leaving the club members alone with the spiders. He would check on her later. For now he would have to focus on the others.

Absentmindedly, he started petting Emmy much like he did his own cat Kippers. He was scratching behind her ears and the side of her mouth before he realised he was petting her. He blushed deeply and muttered, "sorry." Aderyn looked less peaky and Emmy was helping to calm Millie but the meeting seemed overall a bust. He doubted he would be invited back the next term as captain and was just mulling over if Flobberworms were the best choice for the next animal when the spider replying to Sam.

"At times, they are. If we are excited we can make poison. But I can tuck my prey into cocoons and eat at my leisure. I am called Lycos. I was hatched in Romania and the wizard who named me thought, mistakenly, I was female and originally named me Lycosa after their largest spider."

Millie was still rubbing the soft spots behind Emmy's ears when she heard a disagreement between Sam and Gaia and she looked up to see Gaia angrily leave the room. She had heard something about owls but wasn't entirely sure.

She saw Magnus looking upset and he started to pet Emmy. "Don't worry, you're doing a great job. I would vote to have you back next term. You didn't know he would cause so many problems. Like I said earlier, not all creatures are cute and cuddly."

(ooc - sorry for the delays. I had a crazy weekend and now I have a nasty cold that's wiping me out)

Hello Magnus? I'm ever so sorry but I appear to be late... you see I only got word of this club by owl yesterday. Can I still join?

Peng looked around and noticed the large spider talking to another member and thought "why does it always have to be spiders?" As Peng edged her way out of the door she shouted to Magnus, "If you don't mind, I'll return when the spiders are all gone... I just rememberd I have uhh... homework!"

"yeah, sure," Magnus said absentmindedly. He frowned as a new comer entered and excited before he could even speak. Sure, it was true that not every creature was loveable or nice or good looking, but it seemed he had a knack of choosing them didn't he?

Millie saw a new girl enter the room and greet Magnus then she saw the huge spider and ran out. "Poor thing" she thought to herself, hoping she would return for a different lesson.

She was feeling bad. She knew Magnus had tried really hard and when she tried to talk to him, it didn't do much good. "I think I'm going to go... I need to work on my Ancient Studies project and finish a letter to my friend at Durmstrang." Millie said giving Emmy one last ear rub. "I'll see you all later". She said as she stood up and brushed the seat of her trousers and slowly walked out of the room.

Aria was not normally one to shy away from any animal but this giant spider made her stop dead in her tracks. She had heard of giant spiders before but her muggle mom had convinced her that they were made up stories. "These are real too!" Aria whispered as her mouth hung agape rather dumbly for a moment.

Dax sat behind her legs and peered between her legs at the spider. Clearly Dax didn't enjoy being close to something that could eat him.

Aria listened to all the questions and answered in fascination. She pulled out her notebook and decided to sketch the spider and write down a few notes.

(OOC: I'm still out of the country and on vacation but I get free wifi at some locations (ok only have found two so far ! Lol). And as a side note: I just found out that my pet Celene won the pet spotlight about a week ago!!! :-D lol I hope you are better now - migraines are the worst (I have them every single day at least twice a day, but often all day, so I know how lame they are to have) hugs ))

Magnus sighed and had enough. "'s'over everyone, we are ending early," He announced. He couldn't take anymore. He practically shoved a few people out of the dungeon and ignored any protests or people trying to make him feel better. He locked the room from the inside and used the fireplace to call his father, who came and took care of the spiders.

Term was winding down and Magnus was at his wits end. Most of his creatures hadn't gone the way he had thought it would and he lost his confidence completely. With the stress of exams and everything else there was only one thing left for the boy to do...

Dear club member, For our last Care of Magical Creatures Club meeting of the term, please meet at 11:30 at the Great Lake over by the oak tree. Bring an appetite. Pets and school work welcome. There are charms over the area to keep everyone dry should it decide to rain. There will be a bonfire with salamanders in it. ~Magnus

The notes were delivered by owls. Upon arriving, everyone would see several blankets circled around a very large Bonfire. Over to the side of the blankets was a very large spread of food. It was a cool afternoon, which was good as the Bonfire would help to keep anyone who was cold warm. Plus he had lots of extra blankets as well.

((ooc: Starting early because the spiders aren't going so well -hides- so from now until the end of the term on June 5, we will just have a free for all rp. Chat with your school mates and watch the bonfire.

Sam read the note and quickly scribbled a reply; "[font=Gigi]Magnus, I have some frozen ashwinder eggs. Do you mind if I bring one or two to hatch in the fire? Also, If I bring some fireproof gloves to share, may we play with the salamanders? P.S. Check out my latest score in potions class! Thanks for all the help! [/font]" Promising Umbra a live vole to hunt afterwards Sam folded up her potions class evaluation with the note and gave them to the big gray owl to deliver to Magnus in the Griffindor tower.

Magnus replied quickly to the letter: Sam, yeah bring whatever you fancy, sure everyone will love the stuff. 'Sides, most o' the creatures I brought have been a fail, would be nice to have everyone happy for a change. Wonderful! I'll bring your prize to the meeting! ~Magnus

Paddy had been so caught up with her schoolwork, she'd not been able to get to the dungeon for the last week or so. Although she couldn't say spiders were her favourite creature, she was sorry to have not tried to talk to the adult one again, especially after discovering they didn't eat werewolves.

Pulling her History of Magic work away from Snowden before the dog could eat any more than just the corner of the parchment, she grabbed her bag of dog and owl treats, and whistled for Mouse. She hoped her 4 pets would all behave, but Magnus did say pets were welcome. As she headed for the common room door, she picked up a small package she'd left on the side, as a little thank you for Magnus running such an interesting club this term.

Fail? Sam thought..., O.K. the puffskein was a little off-putting at first, but the reaction of that first year was sooo worth it.... Then Sam remembered how many of the girls were freaked by the acromantula.
"Pffft, buncha wimps, scared of a big spider! That's not his fault." She muttered, irritated that he was being so hard on himself. Then she chuckled evilly as an idea came to her. Digging through a desk in the common room she found an unused howler. It was old, a little faded and rumpled, and might not be very loud anymore..., but it would do. Ignoring the annoyed looks her fellow Slytherins were giving her, she shouted at the enchanted parchment. HOW DARE YOU CALL THE CREATURES YOU BROUGHT US A FAIL! You brought us DRAGONS!!!! Not to mention Unicorns and Pegasi! As you Brits would say they were BLOODY AWESOME!! We ALL had loads of fun with the Nifflers and the puffskeins.
Sure, seeing you turn into a werewolf was scary. Lot of magical creatures are scary, we can't just love the cute ones and forget the scary ones are out there. I loved seeing Lycos and Jurig, but I had giant tarantulas as pets back in the desert. Some folks don't like spiders, or snakes, or people who can talk to snakes for that matter. That's not our fault. Pretending they ain't out there, and not learning about them'll only get those folks in trouble when they run into something bad that they know nothing about.
So, GET THE MUD OUTTA YOUR EARS! Listen to everyone saying they love your club, 'cause one unpopular crittur don't make for a fail! Umbra glared at her as she gave the owl the carefully sealed howler to deliver, but flew off obediently to the Griffindor tower.

Before Magnus got Sam's howeler, he hadn't planned on even going to the last meeting. But he turned as crimson as the jumper he was wearing when it exploded in the Griffindor common room that morning, albeiet not many people were there so that was a plus, as was the somewhat-sqeaky voice that translated. Finally, he laughed. Freddie and Kippers followed him out to the Great Lake and he sat by the oak tree sketching and waiting for the members to show up. Sam and Paddy arrived almost together (lol silly fonts are great xD)

Paddy thought she'd heard a strange squeaky voice shouting as she headed for the common room, but decided it must've been her imagination. Arriving at the Great Lake just behind Sam, she saw Magnus sitting by the bonfire. Handing Snowden the box which seemed to have a lot of padding, as well as several air holes, Paddy told her to take it over to Magnus, and watched as she dragged it over, and left it by his feet. She pretended to be watching the Salamanders in the bonfire as Magnus opened the box - she spent ages trying to find it as a little thank you gift, and hoped it'd be a perfect thing for him.

Magnus looked up from his book "When Wooing Werewolves Went Wrong" seeing Paddy's pup run towards him with a box. The box was a little beaten from the journey, but when Magnus opened it he did not expect to find a live snake in it. He gave her a quizzical look but put his hand out to the snake and let it sniff his hand. He wondered if she picked a snake because of Sam, because it seemed more masculine or it just called to her so to speak. "What's this for?" he asked dumbly, then remembered himself and finished with, "thank you very much! Do you know if its a boy or a girl snake?"

Paddy called Snowden back as Magnus opened the box. "It's to say thank you for such a great Care of Magical Creatures club this term," she replied, "I saw how interested you were with the snakes last term, and thought it was time you had one of your own. Haven't got a clue if it's a boy or a girl though, the shop keeper didn't give me much information on it at all."

He blushed a little as the snake started winding its way up Magnus' arm, shoulder, and coiling itself in his hair. "Good fing we've got a snake expert 'ere aint it? Sam, is it a girl or boy? And any 'elp in the name department would be good. It is really cute," he said.

Sam looked over at the bright orange, red and black corn snake happily coiling in Magnus' hair, and greeted it with a polite hiss. After a brief conversation She smiled and told Magnus and Paddy what the snake had told her. "She says the name plate on her tank said Elaphe. Although I think that might actually be her breed name. She's quite proud that she's not just any corn snake, but an Okeetee Corn Snake. Apparently they only come from one small county in South Carolina, and are known for their exceptionally beautiful colors. She says you are a warm person, which is quite the compliment from a snake."

Orange happened to be Magnus' favourite colour, though he did know colour changing spells so maybe his new pet might get a set of changes for different days. He listened as Sam talked to the snake, completely jelous of her amazing talent. "That is just too cool," he said listening to the hisses. "Hmm," he said, "if she's from South Carolina, how 'bout Dixie?" He reached up to pet the snake which he couldn't see. "You like that name? I couldn't spell the other one if you asked me too." Then he reached in his pocket and pulled out the miniture broom he promised Sam ages ago. "'Ere you are, Sam, you're prize for potions making." He was smiling deeply, clearly proud of her.

Aria read the note that Magnus had written and was a bit sad about ending spiders early. However she was beyond thrilled to hear about a bonfire! Having never been to a bonfire before, Aria couldn't wait to experience it with Dax.

Due to missing all previous lessons and skipping the spider lesson, Peng was sad to see that the last class had already been scheduled! "I hope Magnus come's back next term" Peng thought, "Everyone is talking about how he was the best."

Peng decided to make a desert for the bonfire ^-^! Peng had over heard others talking and found that Magnus's favourite colour was orange, so she hurried and made her favourite muggle dessert: orange cheescake!

Peng rushed down to the fire to meet everyone and present the cheesecake!

"Hi Magnus, I hope you weren't angry with me running away, I brought you a cheesecake... I hope you like" said Peng as she eagirly awaited Magnus's response!
