POPTART SHARK IN YOUR SIG KILLS ME OMG IT IS PERFECTION

also OMG OMGOMGOMGOMGOGMG THAT NEW PET AAAA IT IS GOING TO BE SO COOL. Also it will make my mom happy, she loves elephants. And woolly mammoths.

So, I start my diet back today. And when I say "diet" I mean "the proper way I should eat damnit" so, I don't think of it as a fad diet thing but as a sustainable way I should eat.

Mostly because carbs hate me. They hate me so much.

So how is everyone today?

Thanks! :D I'm good, just getting ready to head out to meet hubby and friends for dinner... then on to our local game shop for a night of board games. :) Good luck with your diet, I need to be eating better as well... but potatoes and fries have tasted SO FREAKIN good lately. They go right to my waist though... I miss the days of eating whatever I wanted when I was like 20. LOL ... I can't seem to stop eating carbs either... or candy... omg I nearly ate an entire pack of gummies yesterday... I think I'll walk into town rather than taking the bus on that note. :P

I try to do that. It's a lot easier in the summer because my current apartment has no AC so I can't bake haha. Next year will be a bit different since that apartment will have AC so I'm going to have to exhibit restraint and not bake the things I want to eat...

I generally eat pretty well, but I'm trying to eat more protein and fewer carbs over the summer (aka eggs and toast for breakfast instead of cheerios). I'm pretty good about having produce to snack on instead of junk and eating lots of fruits and veggies with lunch and dinner.

The new pet looks ADORABLE even if we can only see the Pokemon-style silhouette haha.

Oooo! Game shop night! I was planning on going to my local board game night, but it lands on the same night as my neighbor's "Dirty Thirty" birthday party. And yaaasss, potatoes and candy are my weakness, but you'd be surprised that once you're away from those foods long enough, not only do you not really crave them, but they taste funny.

Doesn't take long for them to taste GOOD again, however.

Oh DAMN, that's rough about your AC. At least you'll be in one with AC soon enough! (HOW DO YOU PEOPLE SURVIVE WITHOUT AC. WE WOULD DIE. We're also right next to the Ohio River, so...) Go you on eating more protein! Don't forget to eat the good fats as well. THEM GOOD FATS ARE IMPORTANT.

I know it's so cute and it's gonna be fuzzy omg hrrgnnggggngn. My mom will be psyched. (She actually does play Subeta, just very rarely.)

I have a unit in my bedroom but it's not central. I would melt without it. Boston summers get humid! I don't have any problem eating enough good fats. I love avocados and fish. I'll just be eating a fair bit of ceviche since it'll be too hot to cook!

Ya, I have cut out a lot of sweets... no longer drink soda... and have cut down on my biggest weakness, cinnamon bread (which is like cinnamon rolls in loaf form here). :P It's funny, when I visit family is when I notice it most though - everything in the US is sweeter. The bread tastes sweet, the soda is far sweeter tasting than what we have here even... though I can't turn down a good root beer.

I'm in Denmark, about 20 minutes outside Copenhagen. We moved here almost 5 years ago... :)

I feel your pain on the no AC. Since summer tops out at like 80 here and it only hits it for like a week or two, there's really no AC anywhere - homes, apartments, even stores. The mall supposedly has it but it in my opinion is NOT air conditioned, maybe circulated air but it is in no way cool - not like the refreshingly chill air I associate with air conditioning from home. I miss it, probably the most of anything from home. :P

Everything in the US is very sweet! I think it's because the high fructose corn syrup that's used very often. Unless I'm eating a sweet bread (cinnamon, challah, etc.), I can't stand a lot of the grocery store breads. They're very sweet! When I make my own, it's a huge difference. (Plus fresh bread is just amazing.)

As long as my bedroom is cool, I don't mind not having AC in my whole apartment. It gets very humid though, so I need it mostly for that! Fortunately we're close enough to the coast that we do get a nice breeze that helps it from feeling so stifling. I haven't been to Europe to compare summers here and there, but it's very high on the bucket list!

Yeah, we definitely have a big sugar problem here in the US, mainly with the high fructose corn syrup. But it seems like there has been a bit more of a push recently for more companies to start using regular sugar or cane sugar instead of the more processed stuff. Although there is still the problem of adding extra sugar to a lot of things that don't really need it. It can be hard to find things that don't have added sugar.

We have cinnamon bread here! It's very sweet, however, I have to agree with you there. Once I'm away from all of the carbs, bread tastes SUPER sweet, and the yeast smell nearly kills me. Ugh!

For the first time since I've lived in this house, we have central heat and air. I'm so thankful for this, I had no idea it would make such a difference. u However... I'm running around the house in fuzzy pajama pants, it's so chilly!

I love the smell of yeast haha. ESPECIALLY when it gets turned into cinnamon rolls. Or garlic bread... Central air is an amazing advancement. After this next apartment, I never want to live without it again haha. I'm just hoping that the apartment after that one has laundry that doesn't require quarters!

It seems like a lot of places are slowly switching to sugar instead of the high-fructose crap. Regular corn syrup isn't all that bad. I usually keep some on hand because it's handy for stuff like caramels because it stabilizes the sugar. I don't understand why there's so much salt and sugar added to premade food. Obviously cooking yourself is a much better way to control that kind of thing, but sometimes you just can't beat the convenience of buying something you can eat immediately :)

I haven't really been eating bread that much except garlic bread. I still get carbs from things like pasta and potatoes though, some of my favorites. D:

I'm trying to fix some of my eating habits too. I don't want to completely cut out the things that I like, but smaller portions and less snacks will be better.

I don't think I would be able to survive a Texas summer with no air conditioning, but at least you'll have it at your new place!

I'm guessing it's mostly added for flavor because it's cheaper than other seasonings. It is definitely better to make stuff yourself if you're trying to watch your intake of certain stuff, but the convenience can be pretty nice sometimes.

I know, I'm really excited to see what it looks like! It sounds like a really cool pet, can't wait for it to be officially released! :)

A quest pet is a great idea. :)

Salt adds a lot of flavor for sure, but moderation is always key. I just don't understand why they add so much sugar to things and then make it slightly less sweet by adding salt lol. I try to get low-sodium versions of anything I eat.

I'm talking about eating healthy, but I'm just about to go pick up a small pizza for dinner. There won't be leftovers ^_^

Moderation is good for most things. I don't really think it's too bad to go out to eat or pick up fast food maybe like once a week, but every day is not good.

Also drinks! Lots of drinks have tons of sugar and calories, and too many people don't even think about it.

That's a great point. I don't drink anything other than water really. Sometimes cran-raspberry juice but I cut the sweetness with unsweetened cranberry juice :)

... and the occasional beer or margarita.

I mostly drink water too, with the occasional something else. Like we said already, in moderation it's fine. But I mean the kind of people who get like 2 or 3 fancy coffees or iced drinks every morning, or drink more soda than water. So much sugar, and for some reason it doesn't seem to occur to a lot of people that yeah, calories from drinks still count...
