Paddy paid for her books and jogged out of the book store to catch up with the others, her puppy chasing along behind her. Entering the joke shop, she looked in amazement at all the different things on the shelves. She didn't think she'd end up buying anything here, as she wanted to save the rest of her money to spend in Honeydukes. "Spot anything interesting?" she asked Magnus (), noticing he had picked up an order form.

"I am done here and I know many of you need to go to Honeydukes and some left to Zonko's all ready. I need to go to Spintwitches, so I will catch up with you in a few!"

As she watched Magnus happily buying things to get himself in trouble with, Sam gaped in wonder at the volume and variety of prank items available. After seeing another student suddenly turn into a giant yellow bird when they ate a proffered piece of candy, she stuffed her hands under her cloak and carefully avoided touching anything. Neither of her parents had what you could call a sense of humor, and would ground her for life, but the thought of leaving a nose biting teacup on the teachers table during a tesseomancy lesson made her shake with inner laughter. Waving to Beth as she headed for the door, Sam snatched an order form with a guilty look. She resolved to ask Magnus if he thought it would be a good joke, or if it had already been done by every student with half a brain. , ,

"Is anyone ready to go back to Hogwarts? If not, no big deal. I'm ready to go back and put my stuff away and study for a bit"

He waved bye to Beth and Gaia. He smiled at Paddy and simply said, "Perhaps. Perhaps not. The less you know, the better." He had already procured himself a week of detentions for putting a fake ham in the kitchens. The poor house elves didn't notice and tried to serve it.

Paddy grinned and decided it was definitely better to not ask any more - she'd heard Magnus had been in detention recently, and didn't want to find she knew too much. Talking to the shop keeper she paid for a gift voucher and walked back to where Magnus was looking at more items. "Happy early Christmas. Just don't buy anything that'll stink out the common room," she said as she handed it over.

The sudden squawk of a student turning into a fluffy yellow bird made her look round, and she decided it was safer to go straight to Honeydukes, where the candy was safer to eat. "I still need to go to Honeydukes," she replied to Millie, "I just hope they haven't sold out of everything." Stepping outside, she spotted Honeydukes and walked over, the smell of sweets flooding her nostrils as she opened the door.

"Oh, cheers," he said to Paddy and then burst into laughing as someone turned into a canary. He'd eat one himself at the ball maybe for a lark. He went and paid for his items and slipped the clerk a list and some money for a box of supplies to be shipped to the Slytherin Common room. When Sam arrived at Hogwarts she would find only a simple note saying, "use them well."

"Alright ladies, ready for Honeydukes?"

"I've already been but I'll go with you." Millie said as she followed the group over to Honeydukes. "Maybe I'll grab some more chocoballs for later".

She sighed in relief as she found it and took a quick glance to see what she needed. a Broom Compass and Quaffle for Lyn and a Quidditch Starter Kit for me, she thought to herself.

Even though most of the students had already been to Honeydukes, the shop was still packed with people. Paddy picked up her puppy to stop her getting trampled, and started to gather up some sweets. Although she'd grown up in a wizarding family, she'd never come across some of these sweets before, and decided to buy a couple of everything, so she could sample them all.

"You got a favourite candy, Sam ()?" she asked as she sidestepped the stand of Ice Mice. They might be sweets, but they were a little too close to rats for her, this close to the full moon.

() Gaia noticed Beth as soon as she walked in. "Over here!" Gaia hooked her arm around Beth's arm and steered her to the Quidditch section. "I ordered a Jersey with my name on the back. I am also getting my Irish team jersey today. I was waiting for it for weeks!"

, "Always ready for chocolate!" Sam sang out cheerily. "My fave candies? Hmmm. That'd havta be Prickly Pear Cactus candy and Pina Loca con Chile , that's a sweet-hot, candied pineapple in chili powder lollipop" Sam answered Paddy "But I doubt they'll have it here. I'm just looking for some salted chocolate or some chocolate covered bacon. If they have some dark chocolate with chili powder it'd be great, but I'm afraid that's a bit of a regional thing too."

The shop keeper was all ready laughing when I walked in. Erm... my dad told him not to let me go crazy. I have been known to want to buy brooms regularly." Gaia blushed.

"Pina Loca con Chile sounds interesting, although I'm not sure it's one I'd want to try! I'm sure I spotted some chilli chocolate a minute ago," she said looking through the stand behind her. "Not sure how strong the chilli is, but it might be worth a try," she added, handing a couple of bars over to Sam.

Magnus had never really had any pocket money for sweets... or pocket money at all. He had fun depleting it, though standing in front of all the candy made him feel a little uneasy. He made a mental note of Sam's favourite candy. He felt sad standing in the store not sure what anything would really taste like or what he'd enjoy. Why would it be the candy store that made him feel so lost? Perhaps as most children have sweets and he had not. Heck his folks introduced him to Bertie Bots and Chocolate Frogs but he felt guilty every time he took one and so he hadn't really liked either of them. Finally he decided to forgo any sweets at all. He slipped over to the counter, wrote down some candy names (as in the ones Sam mentioned) and a selection of all the chocolate in the store. Paying for that, he had it also sent to the Slytherin Common room with a note attached, "Just because I could."

"Are we done then?" He was sure they would notice how empty handed he was seeing he'd mentioned wanting to go to the candy store since the first moment they stepped from the castle. As everyone bought their candy, Magnus led the way towards Hogwarts. He hoped Sam would like the random boxes he had sent and figured she'd probly realise it was from him. The rest of the group caught up with them just as they were about to leave Hogsmede. "So, everyone 'ave a good time?" he asked? (i'm sure I'm missing people)

Paddy paid for her selection of sweets and piled them into her bag. She noticed Magnus was empty-handed which seemed odd, considering he'd been eager to go to Honeydukes. "Nothing catch your eye in there?" she asked.

He shrugged. "Never really 'ad sweets. Any time I do, I feel bad on account that it aint needed ta survive and other kids don't 'ave 'em. Guess ya can't teach an old wolf new tricks, right?"

Paddy didn't quite know what to say in reply to that. After a few moments she replied "I bet you made up for it at Zonko's though?"
