Shoving her beater's bat down the back of her jersey Samantha pushed off after Gaia, and swooped up to join the rest of the students. The day was nearly windless, and Sam had been practicing quite a bit since first term. That, and a good many hours with her broom servicing kit, had the older comet performing beautifully. Following 's advice she flew one-handed briefly, then couldn't resist a bit of a show off when Magnus greeted her.("He called me a lady!!! :) :D :) ) Taking both hands off the broomstick she sat up and waved to him, guiding her broom smoothly with her feet and knees.
"Hi yourself!" She laughed, clapping her hands for someone to toss her the quaffle.
"Guess I might wind up seeker or chaser," he said with a grin, "it seems like everyone wants to beat poor Magnus up." He pointed to Sam's beater's bat. Shaking his head he put his hand over his heart, "you all wound me. At least I know the shielding charm now. Though I do know some healers at St. Mungo's on first name basis so if you all do any major damage you can ask for Healer Mathilda Sparks," he said winking, "she'll set me right." Damn it if Magnus wasn't in the best spirits he had been in for ages.
Poppy caught the Quaffle from Magnus and tossed it neatly to Beth. "Aim for the center hoop!"
"I'll pass it to you next, Sam."
"Let's switch out after so that we can all practice guarding the goal posts and then we'll move on as instructed I suppose. Maybe we'll eventually have some 4-on-4 drills since we're even numbers at the moment?"

"Whatever works for everyone, works for me," he simply said smiling and watched as Beth threw the Quaffle at Poppy and her centre hoop.
Poppy attempted to block Beth's shot with her right leg but the force was too much. It glanced off of her knee and went through the hoop, bouncing off the bottom rim. "Great shot!"
She retrieved the Quaffle from where it had landed in the sandy section of ground below. Poppy propelled herself back up to where everyone else was hovering. "Sam! Catch!"
"Can we take a second to breathe before we continue? Do you guys support a particular team? Puddlemere United is my favorite." She was getting used to the broom but she definitely didn't feel strong enough to play Keeper on it. "I meant to tell you that your robes look very professional, Magnus and Beth."

He shrugged. Truth be told Magnus was pretty mellow most of the time--full moons aside. "Don't 'ave one. Never seen a game 'onestly. Thanks, me dad bought me robes shortly after I was adopted and taught me 'ow to fly. They were black but I used the colour change charm to red on account as I'm in Gryffindor."
Sam snatched the quaffle left handed, and was about to toss it back when Poppy suggested a breather and asked about their favorite teams.
"My fave's the Sweetwater All-Stars. This is their seeker, Jacob Baptista's jersy." She added proudly showing off her red white and blue jersey.
"Pa says he watched them win a game that lasted five whole days once."

"'Course I gotta support the US National team too. Don't really know any of the teams over here yet."
Magnus was very much out of the conversation. He really didn't know any of the teams or people that were being mentioned. He ruffled his hair nervously wondering what to say. When nothing came to mind he started absent-mindedly playing with the hem of his sleeve.

It's the only team aside from the Ballycastle Bats that my family can agree in supporting. My mom is an avid supporter of the Spanish National Quidditch Team and my dad is a huge fan of the German National Quidditch team.

Gaia hovered a little higher and turned around in time to see Sam show off and laughed to herself. BEATERS grinning she zoomed to the hoops where her friends were already waiting for her. "Do we get to be Keepers as well or just toss the Quaffle around?" Gaia looked from Aderyn to Ernessa "Are you both confident in flying this high and toss around?" Gaia said while putting her practice bat securely on her back pouch and tying up her hair.
Still not sure what to say Magnus started watching the other team as they got going. Gaia was tying up her hair now. He noticed yet another beater bat, it looked like there were a lot of people wanting to play beater. "As long as I don't have to play keeper," he thought to himself, "I'll be happy with any position." He wanted to be soaring around in the thick of the game rather then waiting for the game to come to him. Chaser and Seeker could be lots of fun too. Deep in thought he hovered on his broom zoning out.
Aderyn was just glancing at the ground and thinking that she didn't fly so high very often when asked if they were comfortable being up so high. She knew that if she fell off of her broom for any reason she could just whip out her wings and touch down safely, and so even against the terror she felt, she nodded.
"I think so! We can play keepers, too. I can keep, unless anyone else would like to?"

Gaia noticed Magnus watching her and waved. "That would be fine with me! I will take it easy on my throwing. I can get very excited and competitive!" Gaia took the quaffle from Aderyn and waited for her to get in position.
Aderyn tossed the quaffle over to and steered over to the goalposts. She'd never played quidditch but she'd been goalkeeper when she'd played football with her muggle friends in the past, so she figured it couldn't be that different. Except that it was high up in the air and on a broomstick. Glancing at Gaia, Magnus (), Sam (), and Ernessa ().
"Ready!"
She hovered a few yards ahead of the largest hoop, waiting for the games to begin.
"You can go ahead and take your shot now Sam. That jersey looks really great on you!"
Poppy smiled and asked, "Beth, will you swap out with me after this attempt? I think Magnus is helping the others start their drill at the opposite goal posts."
"Come back to us later!" She called after Magnus as he flew to the other end of the pitch. "Someone else will be switching positions with me as keeper!" She felt badly about her new friend being nervous because he was a nice person with a very intriguing backstory. "I suppose you'll be supporting the Gryffindors as a player and a fan," she winked. "There's a great coffee table book of Quidditch teams in the library if you want to take a look once we get back inside the castle."
"I wonder if anyone else has more to him or her than simply being a wizard or a witch," Poppy thought absently.
She steeled herself near the middle ring and waited for Samantha.

He waved to Aderyn and Gaia. Poppy broke his thoughts by speaking. Blushing for having gotten lost in his thoughts.
((ooc: Mangus hadn't left Poppy, Beth and Sam, just waiting to do something and lost on the convo since he's never seen a game and all. So if I've messed up and made it sound like he was with the other team, I'm sorry. I have yet another migraine but I'm trying.))
((OOC: I hope it passes soon! We probably won't do much more than practice shots and small talk until Rox directs us all further. I misunderstood because I think I'm imagining the physical distance between the goal posts too big? Sorry for the trouble! 😅))

(( thanks me too. not feeling too hot and have so much I need to do for Christmas that its frustrating. Magnus' isn't strong on small talk, hence his fiddling with his robes and loosing his attention span on the convo of something he doesn't know much about lol. But Poppy got his attention around so you all can boss him around xD)
