The Hustler rotates stock multiple times a day (sometimes), so I don&;t think putting it in the dailies really makes sense.
Maybe not under the dailies section then, rather in the "Check Out" section perhaps, or maybe even his own Hustler's Current Item section. I don't know about anyone else but I go to and see the news page rather frequently, and I'd much rather have it there than getting notifications for it every time the item changes. Of course, if we can opt out of the notifications to begin with then it really doesn't matter that much x) Yeah, I do think that's a good idea, it's just that it would require someone to keep changing it, and I'm not sure it would be perfectly kept up. Unless it can be put on the queue like the items themselves? idk I just don't want to make extra work for someone/have something that doesn't work because they haven't updated it in three days.
The thing is that they want to let people notice that the hustler is selling an item or a new item.. so Check Out or News are not the answer for this need..
I would suggest an event on the side bar like "the hustler is selling a new item - check it out" or something like that.. it's small and easy to close..
I don't like the banner at the top of the page. I do like the idea of having a better way to alert people to the hustler changing stock, but without any way to opt out I could see the banner at the top of the page getting annoying really fast, especially for those that can't afford to spend much CSC and so would probably never buy from the Hustler.
Maybe there could be a hustler widget for the dashboard? If you choose to have it it would show the item, how many are left in stock, and have a link to the hustler page of the cash shop (would prefer a link more than the auto-buy button). And keep the "not interested" button to hide the item until something new comes so it would be more noticeable when it does change.
I think that goes against what they're trying to do with this change. If you remove the widget, then they've permanently lost a customer, basically.
I really think the news page is the way to go. That's what Neopets does.

I.. really don't like this. :/ Stick a link to the hustler on the news page with the RB and birdwatching. Anywhere but at the top of the page.
I find the banner to be rather ugly. It looks like some shady pop-up advertisement. There has to be a better way to do this :/

I can see your point, but for my own use I would find a widget or something that appears on every page more effective for potentially increasing my Hustler purchases.
I hardly ever look at the news page unless there's new news posted, so for me having to check there wouldn't be any more convenient than checking the Hustler link from the cash shop drop down. Even though we do have fairly frequent news posts, if the posts timing doesn't align well with the changes in Hustler stock (like if the hustler didn't change stock until after one news post, but did change again before the next one) I could easily miss seeing an item I might want. If I had a widget I would see it on every page and it would be very hard to miss.
... Can we opt out of it in any way? As someone who can't really afford to drop cash on this site right now, it's really annoying to have to close it every time it pops it. I don't even really look at it - I just see something I know I can't afford. I kind of roll my eyes at it.
I don't even window shop because it sucks to look at things you can't afford. Other things come first.
Maybe if I do have CSC, I would chose to opt back in, but for now, wow, it's annoying. I can see how it would be helpful for someone who does have a disposable income and how it can introduce someone to the Hustler, but if we don't and may not have it for a long time, it's another inconvenience.
See now I don't mind the top banner. I just don't think it's appropriate on EVERY PAGE, but highlighted on a few, ie cash shop, inventory, news seems fine. News/Inventory are places most users visit multiple times a day, so having it there wouldn't be too bad. I actually look at the sidebar hardly on the news page, so a top banner would be more noticeable for me.
ETA I don't use widgets much and think a widget might be as overlooked by most as the ping group.
collecting As someone who does not currently have the means (nor the desire right now, honestly) to purchase CSC, I find the constant Hustler badgering really annoying. Could the banners maybe be limited to only those who have purchased CSC say in the last 6 months?
Oh, I could get behind this. I check my inventory a lot, and at banner at the top of the inventory vs. across the top of the page would seem less in your face for people that don't like it.
I'm not against the news page idea, just the thought of it only being in the news & cash shop seemed ineffective for the intended goal.
Yes, I buy all the things because of Speiro. No more things like "Darn, I forgot to buy that after I ate lunch 5 weeks ago." Speiro is my hero.
I'm going to be the unpopular person and say that I love this. I agree there needs to be some kind of confirmation for the buy, needs to be fixed if people are having to click the x 5-6 times before it actually leaves, etc. etc., but those are things to be fixed. Click it once, it's gone. I agree that an opt-out option would be nice for those that have no want for it but there are a lot of times that I miss an item because no one pings the group that does exist and to be honest it would be nice to know straight away because if it's a book I have to make sure I haven't read it, and that all takes time. I have worrying that I've been pinged at the last second/I'll accidentally buy the next item instead of the one I wanted. (Which has happened in the past.) As a hustler stalker, I approve.
I think the banner at the top of the page is a great idea... Although I do feel like it's a tiny bit of a ploy to get more cash (someone sees a great item, decides to buy immediate CSC to get said item). But even so, adding revenue to the site is a good thing, so not really a complaint.
But I like it. I don't mind it as long as the banners don't stack (I don't want to wake up with 3 announcements) and it really only takes a second to click out of. And I like that it exposes me to items I might've forgotten about and can toss onto my WL.
This vaguely reminds me of super-old subeta too when we used to get events/notifications at the top of our page.
Can we make this a toggleable thing? It's REALLY annoying for people who don't want anything to do with the Hustler most of the time....
I actually really like this! I definitely agree that making it a toggle would be a nice idea as well, and also maybe make the 'buy' button just a teeny bit smaller? It might just be me but I find it really obnoxious...

The hustler thing came back and I almost clicked "buy" because I'm so used to clicking "okay" on pop-ups. This is terrifying. D:

We haven't had any tickets from people saying they accidentally purchased it, so I don't think that's it :)
[edit]
Also, the "buy" button now just takes you to the CS page, so you have to click buy a second time. No more chance of accidental purchases :)!

Any chance we can have alerts in our sidebar when the hustler stocks something new? 'Gossip quickly spreads that the hustler has insert item tag in stock'

So you don't want it on the news page because that would be spam, but it's not spam to have it appear on every page (including the news page???). I don't understand the logic here at all.
Because it's a small bar at the top of the page that is easy to X out of. There is only so much space on the news page, and we removed recycle beast / potion from being news posts because they were spammy.
I don't think putting it on the side bar has any effect on people using it, as we've noticed from those two features getting considerably less traffic after we stopped posting about them nightly.
