I thought you wanted an sP sink? Then you should keep up the prices! And you consider 25 mio a crazy high price? Really? For how many points?
btw. I second someone's wish to know the exchange rates in advance before making us spend our respective points.
This might be an incredibly unpopular opinion, but BHH seems to limit things pretty well in terms of stocking stuff. Why not put the idea of that timer plus the old function of the auction?
As for binding items to you, can you not give it a new ID# - essentially making it a duplicate in the system - but flag it as a 'bound item' kinda like when 'staff item' is released, you cant trade, sell or buy it. This would allow for the older ones to retain their value as they could still be bought and sold whereas the new ones could not.

sP sinks are great, helping people finish collections are great. Interfering with the prices of items DIRECTLY and volatilely is not so great. Even for items that are account bound, when you let everyone buy those account bound items for cheap, anyone who wants one is likely going to. ok great thats more supply without flooding the market? no, not so great since anyone who would be willing to sell these items won't be able to, and anyone who's going to buy one is going to be looking for the price they were sold at the account bound side. That's not how we get wealth flowing around the site. There are some items that need more in circulation, but the idea you're proposing puts no real limit on the amount that's bought in, even if they're not able to specifically "flood the market".
in reference to your reply to andrea, there won't suddenly be a supply in shops for 5m, yet there will almost certainly be a MUCH MUCH MUCH larger gap between what people are willing to pay and what people are willing to sell for because of it, and we will continue to see none of the actual items come up for sale.
I have a strong aversion to view of long time users!
We have been here for years because we love Subeta!
I will probably get in trouble for being off topic so let me just say thank you Ariel for your response to my concerns and for being brave enough to solicit comments on this topic.
That's okay. With wardrobes and, subsequently, other types of items on site, I like to know that I spent that sP on an item I worked hard to save up for. Because of that I want the ability to do what I want with it. Whether that is taking that book and sticking it in my gallery instead of reading it to my pet, or wanting a plushie to add to my pet's TC that I may change later on, I spent the money so I should be able to do what I want with it. You may make the change, but personally, I'm going to continue to buy the ones that are already stocking in user shops that other users are trying to make a profit off of. I just don't find this fair that some people can hang out with an item for much lower than the cost someone else spent working to get for that item. Part of playing subeta is GOALS. Goals that may take a short time to complete or a long time to complete. Personally, if a goal suddenly becomes short term and I finish it, then what else is there for me to do on site? I like the idea of having something long range to work on, and these locked or bound items that are going to be suddenly widely available makes it an awfully short one all of a sudden.
I like that you guys are trying to find ways to get more items on site. What I don't like is this "bound" idea. If I'm going to spend sP on an item, I'm going to do what I want with it.
The more I hear about <del>lowballing</del> the happier I am. Reasonable prices are best prices, and I don&;t like that the site tends to penalize users who didn&;t join up in the first year or two. I&;d much rather spend 5m and have it disappear from the system (and get a collectible I need) than give 50m to someone who&;s probably already rich as crap by virtue of being a longtime user.

I will probably get in trouble for being off topic so let me just say thank you Ariel for your response to my concerns and for being brave enough to solicit comments on this topic. Yeah, I love it too, I just didn't know it existed until three years ago, and penalizing users for not getting here right from the start is ...not the way to induce site loyalty. Sure, some benefit for actually being around during a plot should remain (ie, getting the items for cheap and not having an enormous backlog of collectibles to get), but straight-out saying "if newer users wanted these items they should have gotten here sooner!" is completely asinine. The site wants and needs new players coming in to expand the site and (hopefully) put money into it, and they're not going to join up or stick around if there are hundreds or thousands of items that they literally cannot get ever just because they didn't show up in 2004. Subeta's old enough now that there are probably users who were all of six years old in 2004! I myself didn't have regular internet access until 2006! So if the site is going to offer collections and achievements for filling those collections, they should make it possible to do so. Should it be more expensive? Yeah, I guess (I mean, I'd obviously prefer it wasn't, but I can live with it). Should we be banned from ever laying hands on an item just because no older users deign to sell one? No.
Keith,
I dont think that any item should be set based on what it's last sold price was. What i was pointing out, was that there is a huge pricing discrepancy. That's all. Setting it at 25mil is just too low.
What i do think is that you guys should do, is set price ceilings not baselines. aka not let X item cross over the Y price line, which is what you guys try to do with CS hustler, Crystal shop, BHH, etc etc.
and secondly, i dont want things to be impossible to obtain or collections be impossible to complete. I was commenting on another point someone else made.
But wait, you guys arent reintroducing the weapons again right? so i guess there's always exceptions. /cry errytime
so happy to see that this will be happening since i was not around when this event came out now to get the reading drive to do this also lol :) YAY PLUSHIES BEANBAGS AND STICKERS!
Last thing I'll really say about this but aside from the RSers trying to profit off of them, who is going to /buy/ those items if they are available to go straight into your collection? The people trying to earn a little bit of sP or CSC are going to be losing out not just because of deflating prices but because other people are now going to have no need to buy them. So the items that ARE on site already might just become worthless. I feel really sorry for those users who are clearing out galleries and are now going to have a very hard time trying to sell those items.
As usual is so much more eloquent and can sum up my every thought and feeling in one posting.
I’m glad I am not the only one seeing the negative points.
“Flooding the market†naturally is not going to happen, because everybody will buy everything they need directly only for themselves – there will be no market any longer – actually, we don’t need to interact with other users anymore AT ALL…
And I agree with Murph about the irony of suddenly labeling collection items not worth a high price
RE non-collection use: How did you do it with those account bound 5th win low challengers eggs, that can now be bought in some NPC shop as well, but are not boosters and “normal items
I really don't like the idea of it going right to collections. There's a lot of items I'd love to put in my gallery from old collections. I don't mind things like wardrobe and armory where they can be removed if you want to put it somewhere else, but like, I might want to buy a plushie for my boyfriend (who also plays on here, because I got him hooked!), and this bound setup wouldn't allow for things like that. Who cares if some people want to profit off them? That's how games like this work: Items are released, people who want them buy them, others buy them as investments or to resell, and over time prices go down, then back up again and so on and so on according to supply and demand. People weigh what an item is worth to them. Someone wants to price an item at 50m cause there's none of it in the shop? Fine. If no one wants it badly enough to spend 50m on it, it'll sit there forever, or until either they lower the price, or someone believes it's worth that.
I also have to add that I rotfed @ communism.
Because a doctor with a 8 year deserves the same pay as a burger flipper who dropped out? Thank you for using a term utterly incorrectly, much like the claim of freedom of speech :'D -clap clap-
Really though, good job on this failed sink. Can't wait to see the handful of millions blow out of the system while pissing on longterm users for the sake of asspatting the bebes. We should leave the cap where it is, too. Pop some gods in the token shop.. make sure everything is handed to everyone without any effort! Makes me wonder why I actually waste so much money here, good job c:
Sailors Neptune and Mercury, as well as AluminumSiren and of course my battle pet, thank the staff for making those water-themed and villainy-on-the-high-seas books available for reading even without a trade option. I do look forward to weaponry and wearables, but understand those will take time and like this in the meantime.

I mean, if those people are willing to sell the items for the price they are going to now be sold for, I would for sure buy the items off them for my hoard.
There are always people who will buy items, as long as people aren't being ridiculous about prices. If it's in a main shop for 5 mil, don't expect to get 10 mil for it. That's unreasonable. But hell, I would buy that item for 5 mil from you just so I have another +1 in my hoard, or a needed TC item, or whatever.
[edit] Hi doctor. Mind sharing the wealth with the "drop out"
eyes college loans worst. analogy. ever.
Only problem is if people decide not to, because from what I've been reading, a lot of people are thinking the item prices are going to drop a lot from what they were worth before. Idk I just feel like all this is very up in the air and needs more tweaking with the number of people unhappy with it.
Well, if they don't sell, it's still a loss. So that's their decision.
Maybe don't try to mass profit off "retired" items because nothing stays retired. shrug that's all
[edit] The more I read this, I feel like a lot of anger is from "I'M NOT GONNA BE ABLE TO PROFIT ANYMORE" and that's the shittiest attitude I've literally ever heard.
They probably will tweak it some anyway; staff have said on this thread that it's a beginning push and they'll be taking notes.
As far as prices dropping; some, probably? But any change is going to have its drawbacks, and keeping things the way they are in terms of old stuff makes the site less accessible. There are people who are going to be happy about it the change, too, that weren't satisfied before. So Subeta might as well try to move forward; nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Someone mentioned SubQ-type invites, which I think would work if you keep the prices steep enough, and maybe rotating stock? That way things aren't always available.
It's so selfish of you "doctors", as you put it (which is quite idiotic, selfish, and uneducated of you to compare yourself to) to see the removal of a quest shop from 2009 as such a horrible thing that is such a burden on you. You've had literally 6 years to buy stuff from that shop, if you didn't buy something now that you had the points for, that's your problem.
