Nada. Just the one I toggled.

The glitch was caused by the fact that this pet's name ends with a hyphen.

When you go to the [url=https://subeta.net/pet/foods.php?petid=5975656]Foods Eaten page for a pet, the title bar reads "Foods Eaten: PetNameGoesHere - Subeta". The pet name shows up between the colon on the line and the hyphen on the line, and so I read everything between the colon and the hyphen as the pet name.

I've fixed it by taking everything after the colon to be the temporary pet name, and then trimming off just the "- Subeta" at the end to make the real pet name. This should work for Lumikki- and any other pet whose name has a hyphen in it. If any pets out there have names that actually end in " - Subeta", they're on their own! ;)

P.S. You need me to fix the Autopricer, too?

Oh man, that makes loads of sense. Subeta really shouldn't allow names that break coding (I'm sure it'll cause problems on the site too tbh).

I actually did think of the hyphen later last night but never came back to mention it. Sorry. Might have given you a quicker idea of where to look. But thanks for figuring it out despite my thoughtlessness.

YES would you please PLEASE fix the autopricer?!?! It has been months. My topic was started in July and it had already been months then! Honestly that is the main reason I even have a GA> And I have never let my GA expire since the first time I got it back in 2007. But man it is tempting. Not that my little revolt would even be a blip to them. Just even more aggravation for me.

Anyway. Oh, I used our news alreat one other time to start a mini-revolt and it worked. Back when Keith was considering deleting unused special currencies at the end of every event. But I think that was something people would actually be affected by, not just, apparently. me..

Anyway, anyway!

sorry to have crashed your phone! But thank you for trying to help!

(and anyone else who edits weapons -- , ):

You can now enter a range of tiers for a weapon to indicate that it's scalable.

See, for example, Rainbow Vortex. The Weapon List page will correctly search these ranges.

There are a few weapons which scale based on other criteria (intelligence, defense, etc.), and I'm open to suggestions on how we handle these, but there are few enough of those that I think we just have to document things in their weapon notes.

Thank you for figuring that out and implementing it! Just a note, the rainbow vortex actually scales to t13 (see in the notes it says 5+) so I changed that. Anything that has a plus sign we need to make sure we include all tiers or it won't show up for higher tiers. and I know you know that. I am just pointing it pout for anyone else reading this.

I have no idea how the other type might be implemented on our end. I don't even know how to searc h our site for something like that. I know those things existin theory but I never tried to use anything in that maner.

You should be able to search item notes for a text string which crosses a link boundary. Let me know if you find you're still having trouble.

Searches which don't cross a link boundary run slightly faster, so I'd recommend using these in news posts unless it's necessary to filter out some unwanted results.

Does it actually scale beyond level 5, though? Any weapon continues to be useable at higher tiers, but I read the item note to suggest that it stopped improving once you got to level 5. If that's not the case, does someone have enough information to update the item notes?

is that in answer to me? I mean, I know that. I use the shortest possible text string when searching.

That is not what I meant by "I don't even know how to search for..." I would have no idea what text string to even try.

oh wow! Thanks :D

but if a weapon stops scaling at tier 5, I don't want to see it when I'm looking for stuff for my tier 10.

: If it stops scaling at T5, I'm guessing that people searching for T9 weapons don't want it showing up, but I'll let people who battle more than I do chime in.

As I understand it, all weapons scale to some extent. If an item blocks 1 physical, then it blocks more if your defense is 5000 than if your defense is 50. "1 physical" is a proportion of your overall defense, and not an absolute amount. (Try throwing a Dark x Potion with two pets of vastly different stats and see how much difference it does in damage.)

My guess is that if people are searching for a certain tier, they want to see what new weapons (or improvements to old weapons) are available at that tier. Just because a battler can continue to use the Random Scimitar at T9 doesn't make it a T9 weapon. Returning a weapon that stopped improving at Tier 5 is probably not what people expect when they search for T9.

those are good points. Had not thought of it that way. I know I used the vortex way beyond t5 but there may not have been anything better then. or maybe i was just dumb.

I will often use lower tier stuff for higher tier pets if: 1 - I have other pets of a similar tier (say 6-8), then the tier 8 will probably be underpowered because I don't want to make a separate set for them. 2 - The item has a special ability (healing, stealing, freezing). 3 - I'm used to it (LOL or too lazy to look for something better).

When I'm searching for a specific pet, I will generally search its tier and up to 2 below its tier to find something suitable. Then I refine my search by looking specifically at stealers, freezers or healers, and when I do that I often remove the tier completely and look at everything. Or I'm looking for a specific attack or defense, again, I might choose tier limits, I might not.

Basically tier is a variable I use to limit the potential pool of results and rarely ever just look at the top tier, I'll run several searches. I'd rather look at a smaller number of results to choose between, because its so hard evaluating and choosing weapons.

I hope they'll fix the autopricer and that it won't cost us Bug's goodwill. I haven't heard from him in a couple of weeks now, and he may have changed his mind about creating more opportunities for us.

I doubt he even saw it, especially since it had already been taken down when I went to do it. He has been aware of the autopricer issues for me at least since July, which was before he helped you. His goodwill seems t fluctuate but if it is my fault then I apologize.

: Nah, it's okay. Put it back up if you want.

I figure any good will we get from any staff member is temporary. And considering how often features on their site break or get tweaked, we should always have independent means of doing things at the ready. I like the ability to update the user shop prices on a daily basis, but I kept the old code in case they ever break things and we have to go back to it.

No worries at all, I'm glad it got sorted!

I agree with Lypsyl - I think for weapons we should only include in the range the tier it goes up to (as far as changes to stats goes). Folks by that point tend to know that they can use lower tiered weapons still but I also wouldn't want to search t12 and see a bunch of stuff that quit gaining stats at t5 etc. As for the things that adjust based on other stats, we should probably just leave it how it already is (relying on folks to read the item notes themselves).

So far so good on the item notes search! If I come across anything wonky again I'll definitely poke you!

Also woot on the range of tiers for weapons!

It's related to the changes I made yesterday. I know how to fix it, but it'll probably have to wait until I have a couple of hours free tomorrow.

edit: I've got a temporary ("dirty") fix up, but a more efficient fix is forthcoming.
