Chapter 10 – Interim Report

Since you asked for it here are the solutions from all users who gave their consent to publish: [li] smear coloured marks on the sheep's coats or sheering them while using notes to keep tally [li] "Yan tan tethera" [li] dyeing a patch of the sheep's fur a color specific to that day (since there is an infinite amount Custenhin will never be done counting so that is unavoidable but he'll be able to keep track how many he is counting every day and how many approximately he has at any given time) [li] strengthen the spiritual bond between Custenhin and his sheep with a chant so he exactly knows where they are (being able to "account" them) [li] transporting sheep to the ravine from the chapter before, one at a time (no way for them to escape) [li] user 1 dyes the sheep with green dye, user 2 uses the Mastiff to help herd the unpainted sheep

I had to google it myself. xD But I like the fact that I learned something new about sheep-counting during this chapter.

Just a precautionary measure: Please bear in mind that this isn't about "justification", my dear. The list was for curious people for once. Rowan will re-post her/the teams solution. But she has no need to defend herself/the team. It's my heart-felt wish to keep this plot factual. I didn't say the solution from Orphans R Us is "right". It's just another point of view. I don't want any cat-fights about it. Creativity isn't black or white. Alright? This should be (and stay) a fun game.

Thanks, Blue. This is exactly how I feel! I liked reading everyone's solutions, too. I think my original version of our solution suffered from TMI, which ended up being confusing. "Counting infinity" or counting an infinite set of anything is a huge ongoing debate and has a lot of literature on it. A lot of the reasoning involved is elusive even to me, and I certainly don't want to do a dissertation for a game. :D

But here's a pretty concise version:

To us, this involved counting an "infinite set," which is a mathematical and philosophical conundrum as in the famous "Zeno's Paradoxes." While the two sides never seem to mesh, the "solutions" are to compare a set between 0 and 1, which 0 and 1 being the only two possibilities.

We thought it would make for an interesting RP to have the two sides running all over the place using their methods while Adris and Hlin yelled out 0 or 1 and then took a nap. It's was all supposed to be amusing and make for a clever entry, and that's all. :D

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound confrontational. I like theoretical maths and thoroughly enjoyed Rowan's answer. I just...I want to properly understand because to be frank, even that video that Rowan linked didn't completely make sense to me, and I'm having trouble wrapping my head around this.
