does it really matter what forum? It was asked here cause this is where I was. Okay, those pics weren't actually MOVIE but they were movie related. :)
ANYWAY. Click a mallarchy and autorefresh the results page. I have it set for 12m 5 sec.
I started this huge reply on comments and then figured we may as well get post counts and MAYBE forum points.
My first encounter with James Spader was on The Office and I couldn't stand him. When I finally decided to watch BL despite him I came to appreciate him. I keep thinking I will watch that season of The Office again to see if I like them now but I have never gotten around to it. Of course he I on The Blacklist now which I think is pretty good but definitely not as good as BL. I do think it is interesting that his mannerisms seem to be truly his and not something he puts on for a character. The funny tilt of his head when he is speaking intently seems to be the same across all of his shows.
The Good Wife is another great show! I watch it from the beginning and was so disappointed when they ended it so abruptly. I have always been a fan of Julianna Margulies. It doesn't have the honor of BL but still a good show.
Did you ever watch Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip? It is billed as a comedy but I would categorize is as a humorous drama, much like BL is. Unfortunately it was only one one season but is definitely worth the time watching it. I enjoy shows that are smart and you have to actually listen to rather than just watching car chases or murders. Or Zombies, lol. But I do enjoy The Walking Dead.
Wow, this is a lot of TV talk hahah I think I should go to bed so I can go to stupid work tomorrow!
Not yet, but it's on my "to watch" list. I tend to enjoy quirky shows that struggle to find an audience: Smash (2 seasons), Sports Night (2 seasons), Firefly (1 season), Freaks and Geeks (1 season), Red Band Society (1 season), Action! (1 season)
Then again, I also loved Six Feet Under, 3rd Rock, and Arrested Development, and all of those lasted a bit longer.
Sleep well -- I'm not far behind you tonight.
I did watch the first episode of Red Band Society and was not enthralled. Six Feet Under and 3rd Rock I watched as well.
The others on your list I have either never heard of, never seen or both. :p
How about Queer as Folk? It was on Showtime and really good.
Just scrolled up and say myself say
and - Firefly is amazing! <3 that show. We're currently watching a whole bunch of shows on TV... Rizzoli and Isles, Major Crimes, Suits, Dark Matter, Killjoys. We're looking to start something new also, like Game of Thrones or the newest season of Orange is the New Black. My husband is hesitant on OitNB because he's heard it's really dark, yet he's wanting to start GoT. He makes no sense to me. I'm more hooked on music at the moment. Hamilton is truly amazing and I'm completely hooked. I want to see it so bad!
love major crimes, don't watch rizzoli and isles because I can't stand the chick with dark hair. :/ Don't watch the others you listed as watching but I do watch both GoT and OistheNB. Both are great. Orange is much easier to follow! Normal names!
Have to go!
It took a while to find its voice. The first few episodes were trying to be "The Breakfast Club In A Hospital", where the teen drama was overpowering the medical drama. A few episodes in, they shifted gears -- as the kids' illnesses started getting more serious, Octavia Spencer's role (the "mean nurse") became more important, and she became their source of strength when they needed it. I completely understand not loving Episode 1. (Or 2 or 3, even.)
I never subscribed to Showtime, so my opportunities to watch Queer as Folk were erratic.
Season 4 is "really dark"; the first three seasons are just somewhat dark. So far, the even-numbered seasons have been better than the odd-numbered seasons, kind of like Star Trek movies. ;)
If we're talking about streaming shows and not traditional network TV, I'll also give my thumbs up to House of Cards (of COURSE I love a good political drama!), Alpha House (of COURSE I love a good political comedy!), and Grace and Frankie.
subscribe to showtime? hahahaaaa NOPE I steal them online :x
Love House of Cards and Grace and Frankie as well. Apparently we have very similar taste in TV
Oh my! I forgot to mention Shameless! Another Showtime show and boy is it good!
Yesterday I bought the new HP book.. tomorrow I'll start to read it.. it's short 330 pages..
about tv shows, soon I'll start Zoo S2.. and Stranger Thing :) I just can't wait for Sept. to start and all my tv shows will come back too.. I hate the summer season lol
- Oooh! Let us know how the new HP book is! My reading list is so long right now... That book will find it's way there eventually! What are Zoo S2 and Stranger Thing about (and what network)? I've never heard of them :o What shows are you looking forward to in September?
and - House of Cards is great! I love the way they ended this most recent season. Definitely made me want to keep watching, whereas the last season not so much.
I enjoyed Season 1 a lot, because it was fun seeing the different ways they'd adapted the British version (there was a U.K. House of Cards -- very similar first seasons with just enough alterations to change Britishisms into American references, but the shows diverge after that, because U.K. Season 2 dealt with the new Prime Minister's relationship with the royal family, and that doesn't translate so well. I thought the U.S. Season 2 was the worst of the four so far.)
If you don't mind subtitles, Borgen was also a good political drama, but I'm only through Season 1 so far.
haha I will! (so far the comments are not that good lol)
Zoo is a tv show in CBS that started it's 2nd season, it's based on the novel Zoo by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge. I love this tv show because the story is interesting, what would happen if one day the animals would go against us and fight back?!
Stranger Thing is a new tv show of Netflix with Winona Ryder, it's a supernatural horror tv show and giving an homage to the 80s horror movies.. I read a lot of good things about it so I want to watch :D
oh my list for September:
American Horror Story, Grey's Anatomy, Once Upon A Time, How To Get Away With Murder, Gotham, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Luke Cage, Scream Queens, Sense8, The Leftovers, The Strain, Doctor Who.
New are not included but there is an interesting one from HBO Westworld, based on the movie and it's with Anthony Hopkins.
- I didn't realize that there was a UK House of Cards that came first :o Season 2 made us almost stop watching the show... It was just so far-fetched and unbelievable. They've pulled it back in to more realistic waters though, for now. We have Borgen on our list to watch as it seemed interesting. One of these days we'll start it!
- Hmm, horror you say? Sounds like Stranger Thing is not my thing. I like supernatural stuff, but for some reason, I can't watch horror stuff any more. Loved it when I was younger... I should start watching Gotham too. My best friend from work raves about it and thinks I would really like it a lot. I'll be watching Once Upon a Time, HTGAWM, and Shield as well. My little 4 year old is eagerly waiting for the new season of Project Runway!
the horror on tv is much worst tbh it's not the slash killers, it's more provocative and showing too many details.. especially if it's a netflix or FX series..
Gotham is amazing, it's the best DC series so far! after the traumatic Smallvile I was skeptic about Gotham but it really surprised me.. but in the other hand I'm not watching Arrow, Supergirl and The Flash.. I hate the CW for canceling too many good series..
You must try Jessica Jones, as a woman, really, it's talking about important things that many women had to deal with in their life (like rape, toxic relationships and so on) it's really feminist and woman empowering, I just love it!
Once Upon A Time I love to watch because is so cliche and easy and of course for the Disney characters lol HTGAWM became too weird but Viola is so amazing that I just love to watch her acting lol Shield.. well.. another amazing product of Marvel xD
- I tried Jessica Jones and hated it. We got through 3 or 4 episodes and I just couldn't keep watching it. But I completely agree with you about HTGAWM... It became so weird this past season. I'm wondering how they're going to straighten it out... And of course, Shield is amazing... I <3 Marvel!
wow you are the first one that says it about JJ! did you try Daredevil? I love it, season 2 was awesome!
lol yeah the final was too weird and it's becoming too unbelievable..
On which season are you with Shield? I just love Simmons and Fitz, it's so rare to see dynamic and chemistry that is so natural between actors! did you see their first screening audition? IT'S AMAZING!
- Jessica Jones was just too stagnant for me and it couldn't hold my interest. I just wanted to punch her in the face and tell her to stop banging the dude from the bar. I couldn't keep watching it. I haven't tried Daredevil yet, but I've heard good things about it.
I'm up-to-date with Shield. I love Fitz-Simmons! I think they are so adorable! <3 I want to be friends with them in real life. <3 I'll have to find their audition and watch it later!
