I still don't see it as nuts? Of course if you're a new user an event is going to be more difficult, that's how any game works.

A new user can still easily make 1 to 2 mill a day from quests. The complete set of wigs is only for 1.25 million. The items are avaible for several days, and when the shop closes they'll be availble next year as well.

Next year, possibly. There's no promise although last year's items came back as well. It's still ridiculously crazy, but apparently it doesn't matter?

These items will eventually be phased out (after a few years we retire older years out of shops; look at masq shop or vesnali), so the prices will be completely unified in the future (new items from this year and last are unified, it&;s just those old old items).

The staff never has retired an item in a shop immediately after (unless I'm missing something.

I get that higher prices aren't fun, but I honestly don't understand the idea that it's a huge deal because a new user might have to only get 1 wig versus and entire set.

I..sort of didn't even look at the prices since I already knew I had enough. Oops.

I agree newbies can get frustrated but like others said, next year.

I'm only buying books and achievement items at the moment so my field is fairly small compared to others. Once I buy everything I need I'll probably start on wearables.

I don't mind the prices at all. People shouldn't expect all holiday items to be handed to them for dirt cheap (not to mention that the items would become worthless down the line if that were to happen). For newbies, I see it as a motivation to make sP/get more involved in the site. After all, saving up and working towards things is all part of the game. It would be boring otherwise, imo.

The prices are fine. I've seen a bit of the 'think of the children new players!' in the last 6 pages, and I've gotta say, if site events were geared solely towards new players, everything would be 5 sp and there'd still be a cap on how much sp everyone could make so no one gets disadvantaged. 'Not fair to new players' shouldn't be a valid argument when it comes to sp sinks.

At least give the newbies/poor users some relatively cheap new wearable items even if it's like 20k.... :/

Not sure if this has been mentioned but just throwing it out there- to buy every single item in all three shops is a total of over 37 million sp. I understand that omg we don't have to get every single thing but just think about it for a second. This holiday is fairly expensive.

I was wondering how much I am was going to spend in total. Course I need two of several items so I'll be spending more then that heh.

Keep in mind however that these items have been accumulating since 2008. That's six years worth so yeah, a new player starting out is going to need to do some serious catching up. That's to be expected.

There's plenty of holidays with free items given out or earned in various ways that don't involve SP. It's not a bad thing that a few of them focus more on the sp sink factor.

I don't mind the prices - although I hate spending sP.

But I hate the timer and the fact that you have to be on at certain times to grab stuff. I only want the beanbags - but that means I have to stay up late/not go out tonight and tomorrow in order to get them. And that makes me sad.

Ditto on the timer. I can't be on when the Geschenkboutique is open, I needs me sleep. ATM I am relying on the kindness of a friend, but I feel bad having to ask because it means they're on longer than they may want to be for my benefit.

I have only been a member of this site for two weeks and honestly, the prices made me pretty ecstatic. I am aiming to collect all plushies/bean bags, so when I saw how much cheaper those items are during Alegarten versus buying them from users, I almost literally jumped for joy. ((and then bought all said items.. :p )) This event will end up saving me money in the long run, so I don't get why people are complaining.

Actually I might start complaining since I paid 50 mill for at least two of those sausage beanbags... O.o

Seeing this topic last year is making me experience deja vu! xD The price is completely fine by me, especially for items that used to be stocked in the holiday shop were once a ridiculous price and the items you wanted to get were almost impossible. (and the event working as an sP sink compared to most events) Plus you can easily get the money via quests and recover within a few weeks.

The only problems I have with the event is the rotations and timer. I see why the rotations are there for lore reasons and such but being someone who's outside US some items are harder to get than others like Gute Ale meaning I'd have to stay up late or getting up early. I find the timer just makes the rotations more difficult.

There are cheap items in there, these are all wearable and cheap:

ETc etc. Some of them have one or two expensive versions BUTbutbutbut there are users who paid MILLIONS upon millions for the one's that are now 300k, so any arguments made to that effect (that 300k is just ridic) are null and void.

These wigs are also really well done and very affordable:

And 37million is a lot, however if ANY user (new, or old) wants one copy of every single thing in there I have this to say:

  1. If you're an old user, why didn't you work on these items for the past two years? The shop existed last year with most of these items and the year before that Mystery Box? I can't feel a great deal of pity on someone trying to catch up for lost time when they were already here.

  2. To new users and users playing extreme catch up: Rome wasn't built in a day. If you want to go slow and steady, no one is going to die for it? If you want to be a power user then it's not subeta's fault, and that doesn't mean the prices are too high-- that just means you're over achieving and trying to do too much instantly and that is on YOU, not the site.

PS: While 250k might seem a lot for a wig, what are the alternatives?

  • CWs: Cheapest possible wig is 300 csc/about 10-11 million, most expensive (that I remember seeing) was something like 7k csc/you do the math.
  • CS: Most are 125-250 csc which is about 4-9 million.
  • Subeautique: If you're lucky enough to RS one the cost of an invite (350k+) + approx 250k for the wig itself making it more like 600k+ a pop. If you're not lucky enough to RS the one you want, a few million+ for a really nice usable wig (many are cool but not things I see most users using on a day to day basis).
  • RSables: I think there's like 5, those emo wigs. Oh and the clown wigs! Yes.

... so uhh, yeah.

On the topic of subeta vs. balance, usually I totally agree-- the site seems very very all or nothing with either WAY too much to do and WAAY too many exclusive top tier prizes that cost an arm and a leg, or there's a simplistic steady trickle of a plot that's cute but not exactly engaging with a lollipop and a buttpat at the end.

However, I like the way both Keel and Alegarten function and I don't see anything wrong with them. With Keel you're either restocking, doing Carl's quests (great change), vending, or buying-- I would be feeling rather stressed if there was anything else to do because the event is only 10 days long and all I want to focus on is getting my books and the items I want for me/TCs, I really don't want any distractions from that mission. Likewise, Alegarten is a relatively short event that's ALWAYS centered around some themed clothes and booze and is, to me, more of a time killer before Morostiideee.

While it wouldn't be terrible to have a little something something going on (give Gunter different types of booze achievements? Like 10 things with the word 'whiskey', or 'tequila' and maybe Carl gives out JUST booze items for the duration of Alegarten to keep the prices in check? Maybe a 1up to that damn ManBearPig who booted him into the streets, he'll see who drinks the most now, eh?), I wouldn't want to see much that's really engaging. While I don't have much to do other than books and booze, I like the cool down between Keel and Morostide to do my usual subeta stuffs before my favorite holiday that consumes all of my waking moments with new items, stuff I love, and of course.. battling.

This. A thousand times this.

Morostide is going to give you bunch of free things. Fireside will give you bunch of free bonfire things. Luminaire will give you bunch of free advent calendar things. There is no problem with having an event where you have to buy the bulk of the item, especially on a MINOR HOLIDAY

Alegarten and Keelhauliday are MINOR HOLIDAY. Morostide and Luminaire, and to an extent Fireside, are not.

No. People should not be told "Awww, you don't want to make the effort to buy the items you want, it's ok, have them all for free". That's not how it works. If you want something, go do your wizard quests. Because you can literally buy two or three of these wigs with quest money a DAY, if you really want it.

This is my first Alegarten. I want all the items. I am an overachiever. That being said, I have no issue with the prices. I have all the issues with the timer. Ain't nobody got time sit here and buy an item every five minutes for 30+ hours straight. :|

This is my first Alegarten as well. I see absolutely nothing wrong with the prices, and after reading a comment saying that the higher priced items were based on shop prices at the time and number in stock, it seemed perfectly fair. I'm used to events on other sites where they're only around the ONE time, each year is entirely new things, and if you don't get them, you're out of luck.

Seeing as very very recently Carl was giving out pirate items for relatively low cost, and some could be obtained by vending in OD, if you don't have the sP to spend on this, I'm kinda curious as to why. Even after obtaining the pirate items I wanted, by selling the things I didn't want/need that I got for extremely low cost, I made tens of millions of sP. Only from the pirate event.

So yeah, I've got no issue at all with the prices. The timer may be an inconvenience, but since it's only 5 minutes, I can deal with it. I like currency sinks.
