ok, this makes more sense, I thought you meant that we'd pay 5k plus a 10% convenience fee.
I'd think this would be a bad move for subeta though...I mean it makes it nice for us submitters but...I fear it might hurt subeta DX ...unless of course it was higher than 10%
yeah that's what I was thinking
Yeah, the 10% is just for the purpose of this conversation. We're running a bunch of numbers but there are a lot of factors to consider, like! If buying a CW is considerably easier (which it would be with shops / searching / etc) would more users purchase cash shop credits (that eventually make an exit by the CS at some point or another) in the long run? If so - we need to find the sweet spot to entice creators to keep making awesome CWs and keep them cheap enough for users to buy. If we take a smaller cut, the prices stay lower because creators get more (we hope) so maybe the % will be tied to how much your charge.
Anyway - the numbers are a long way off, but this is the general idea that we're working with now! ;D

Ok, this makes me feel a lot better, thank you for clarifying :D
I think making CWs easier to purchase would entice more people to participate on the market, yes! Even if they can only shell out some $5 every now and then, it would still be more money spent c:
We have to keep our prices consistent, what means we can't charge 800 for the first batch takers and then suddenly lower it to 300 csc (the big issue about lowering the costs per batch was always this one), but I'd love if eventually submission prices and fees get balanced out in a way that we can make the end product cheaper for people ^_^
I suppose too much csc floating around is still a potential problem, since cash shop items (except GAs) also cost money to get made (so technically a month's CS sales could only mean people were spending csc stashed away instead of putting money in = artists won't eat this month D: ), hopefully a middle ground could be achieved!

I LOVE THIS SHOP IDEA - BLESS YOU GUYS THIS IS AMAZING AND I'M EXCITED
hmm I dont have any ideas but I do just wanna express support / your mockups on pg 1 are amaze B) how CUTE
for me personally i dont buy many CW's (I think the felis demonica that i'm wearing is my only one, actually), but I've always wanted to make them and just been too intimidated by the process. i feel like this would make it an easier process for artists who haven't started making CW's yet because they don't use the forums very much, too! so that would be really cool, I'm so glad this is happening ^^
the way you run this site is amazing A+ ily
Just wanted to post that I've made some progress on the CW shops. Right now it doesn't fulfill all of the things that were asked for here, but it does have:
What I'm currently writing for it:
Coming along!

looks neat so far! i'm wondering about the requirement of having the first batch done, though - i thought the reason for CW shops was to eliminate threads, how else will we fill batch 1? (i may have misunderstood this post, tho!)
This is exciting but I'm curious how the profits work on that now then? Do we get anything above the base slot price on it (like if we set it to 700 and base price is 500 each copy do we get the 200)?
I'm hoping that the following system will be enough.
There just wasn't actually a good way to replace the initial batch requirements. We just don't have the resources to get items through the system that are only going to be purchased by two people / keep going back and forth on items that couldn't muster initial interest but we're spending time to critique.
It's a really hard balance and the initial batch is still the only / best way we've been able to come up with to keep that balance :(
💖 ✨ 🤗
oh no that's not really what i meant - i completely agree that an initial batch should be mandatory, i was more inquiring about the method of acquiring that first batch. if i were to place an item in the cash shop now, i'd fill the first batch from my thread. but if ping groups are being abolished, how will i get the first ten people to fill the first batch? that's what i meant in my post above :)
Yeah, a next step (after those) would be making sure we have a place to upload pngs/jpgs/bmps for unsubmitted item previews and have people put their name on some sort of list we can then use to attempt approval c: It's cool that we can put a link to our threads, we're probably going to keep threads for a while during the transition, but ideally we're looking at something that allows us to ditch them completely on public releases ^^
Can't forget the straight-to-CS method too, if we're getting rid of the CS!
Totally don't mind that items can't be removed from the shop, as long as we can set stock to 0 and slot/preslot certain people (Bob is a frequent customer, I want him to have this before slots run out, so I can go and input Bob's username). c:
Looks interesting so far. I'm a little confused about the following option though. If you say that they can get an event to tell them the release of a new item, is this an item that we can put into the system and they just claim via our thread? So instead of pinging, you put in an item for sale, it shows up, they go to the thread and claim a slot? Just kinda unsure how all that will work. Some of the ping groups are for general use of all cw sellers, not just individual. Will there be a way to still use these or are all those going to be completely obsolete?
We aren't telling anyone to get rid of ping groups. If you find use in a group (like the general ones) then keep them.
💖 ✨ 🤗
But, you're hoping that changing things and lessening the use of pings will at least lessen the strain on the server yeah? I thought that the whole idea of doing all of this was because ping groups were being done away with? If this isn't the case, then what is going to change by making cw shops?
That's what I was asking. If I put something into my shop that would normally be 5k submission for 10 copies and I set the price at 700 CSC each copy am I getting the 200 CSC over that I would get per copy if u submitted the batch of 10 normally?
Also - if/when this goes through will we be able to put all remaining copies in the shop (for limited batch items) or will it function the same as the CS where we can only add items that had batches set to unlimited?
Yes, you'll get the 200CSC. If you price it at the base price, you'll get 15% of the purchase instead. So there is a balance there where until a certain point it's actually more beneficial for you (and your buyers) to set it to the base price.
And, when it goes through you'll be able to move your "batch" items into the shop as well, but you won't have control over the number of them to put in the shop. You can make the price 0 and they won't show up for other users, but you'll have to sell only the number left in the batches (so if you have 3 batches left, you won't be able to set the amount less than or more than 30). That was a really weird description, but hopefully that made sense.
💖 ✨ 🤗
Excellent. This all got much more appealing haha.
And I think I understand - if I have 3 batches left and move it to my shop, the shop will stock 30 copies at whatever price I set - correct?
If so that makes me a happy camper because I can toss the items there that have folks on an interest list but not enough to fill a batch (but weren't unlimited to begin with).
ah question, I take it since you didn't list it above, that we will be filling the first batch the same way we've always filled it, by taking slots via forums? Then we'll submit it via this page? If this is correct, I fear not as many cw ping groups will disappear. It seems like this feature is exactly like the CS cw area now...except we have more control over the price, and there will be a follow button.
I like where this feature is going, a lot, but I think there needs to be a way to fill the first batch inside this shop. So we are not taking slots in multiple areas...which might confuse people even more than CWs do now. I know of a few people who would probably avoid this shop due to that confusion and hassle.
I also worry about not being allowed to take things out. A lot of people have tons and tons of cws approved, such as Cathii. If there will be pages, such as Here, then I think it would work well...if not...I fear it will take forever to load the shop for some people.
