I agree, how come we have humanoid NPCs and yet the scratchcard owner is a Malticorn?! Or is the Malticorn the pet of the actual scratchcard owner? SO MANY FUCKING QUESTIONS AND UNANSWERED SHIT. LIKE [ITEM2=EDWARD].
JUST. EXPLAIN.

Haha, I don't really care for the Edward, but I'll always throw in my vote for more lore / more backstory on every / any aspect of Subeta ^_^ I think it'd be particularly useful for pets, if at all possible. c:
I remember that too. I don't remember any kind of announcement about it being cancelled, it just sort of disappeared. I guess modding made it kind of redundant though?
I still want the higher tiered mod crystals released at some point. I think a well-developed crafting system would be a cool way to do it. The Alchemist sort of toyed with that, but as far as I know the levels don't actually do anything for you.
And I really want some kind of gauntlet where you fight your way through all the opponents, one after another, to see how far you can get. D:

At least I'm not crazy. That's a thing.
I forgot about those crystals! Kinda surprised they haven't been poked in the battle shop to fill all the blank space in later tiers.
That would be awesome. - I would totally stand behind that. Would be cool if it could be done against other players but eh, one things at a time I suppose. xD
I don't think anyone knows what the deal is with that minion any more. xD It was made as a gag years ago, but nobody really explained it.
For a while, Subeta was supposedly moving away from anthro NPCs (Euclid used to be a wyllop, if memory serves?), but they changed their mind. I... have no idea why we have anthro NPCs at this point. :'D It's weird to go buy scratchcards from a two-legged, talking malticorn when you own a malticorn yourself.
oh lawdy, i would love the gauntlet thing or even an elite four equivalent. woudVoteForIt/10.
Personally, I'd like to see all anthro NPCs changed to humans or human-like characters. It's different if users want their pets to be anthropomorphized, that's perfectly acceptable. But when it comes to official site characters, no anthro NPCs.
It just complicates the universe's canon too much. xD
As for the pet lore stuff, I've given it a go on Subeta's Wikia site. Paralix, Devonti, and Kumos for examples.
I'm sure someone could do better though. xD

I would LOVE more lore on Subetan species. SO MUCH LOVE FOR LORE! Even little blurbs about the colouring would be acceptable. How did the Ornate Vase become so special with Glade Potions. The Steamworks and Tempests are pretty much mostly done as being released during plots, but for newer members, they may not know their past. How about how Graveyards are something along the lines of the Underground experiment with the alchemist gone awry! Why does Merara like to corrupt pets with Hydrus spells...or the gypses and their love of constellations.
I like that you mentioned the Neo battling system on here. Surprisingly apt, because it's been in beta (and somewhat broken) for about a year. Subeta are obviously the trendsetters now haha.
I don't think there's a massive amount wrong with battle, though it feels like we've lost some of the momentum from 2013, which felt like a really exciting year with monthly challengers, battle week, EXP tweaks, eggs etc etc. I understand the achievements have been a bit of a spanner in the works and resources are thin though.
(though I'd LOVE high score boards to make a return; battling my way up always helped kill a bit of time)
Hahaha I had no idea. That's petty great. At least here we have 'beta' in the site name so that makes it okay right? bricked
It does feel rather stagnant right now, yeah. Whenever a new opponent is released it becomes interesting for a short period but overall there's not a lot going on.
I'm excited to try to beat Rouland this year but that's just about the only motivation I have to keep training and such. Most years after the Halloween event I manage to drag myself here long enough to collect all the stuff Melody hands out at Christmas before I fall off the face of the planet in a boredom induced coma until summer rolls around.
Staff has mentioned that some of them are working on the Subetapedia and NPCs so I'm eager to see the results.

I hope the lore will resolve the issue that some of the Subeta pets are sentient (e.g. The Hustler, Alexander) and some are presented as just pets (e.g. Curie, all the users' pets). And if the pets are sentient, the whole issue of how humans and sentient non-humans are living side by side, because that was pretty much skipped over on the Cruise and even the Council of Subeta is made up entirely of humans with no non-human representation.
The thingies you could pick were perks. They were working on it together with the pvp coding. But then the site crashed and the coding was lost. I don't think they tried to recode them since. Too bad, I kind of liked that you could give your pet unique advantages. But yeah, the mod crystals pretty much do the same thing.
I'd like more background to pets.
1: Subeta's pet species must have been wild before humans colonised the planet and adopted them. Maybe pets in the Adoption Agency are said to join the wild pets if they don't get adopted after a certain time.
2: There's a lot of confusion where the anthro NPCs are concerned. I must be the only player here who likes having some anthro NPCs. After all, pets have jobs which they need intelligence for. One of mine runs a chain of hotel, for example. If pets were demoted to being ordinary animals it would be ridiculous to have pet jobs. It would also be ridiculous to use books to increase pet intelligence.
I feel that there's a big difference between Alexander and the scratchard malticorn, for example. Alexander's an ontra who's really into books and the scratchcard malticorn is basically a human girl (breasts and all) that happens to look like a malticorn. The same essentially applies to the bank mortiking and Babette, the Rathskeller Inn owner. The mortiking might wear clothes, but he's still a mortiking. Babette, however, leans more toward the humanoid end of the spectrum.
Pets can get jobs and even without canon background, I believe they're far from being simple animals. However, there's still a glaring difference between pet NPCs and anthro NPCs. The former being pets and the latter being human-shaped pets that wear clothes and essentially have humanoid bodies. :'D I hope I explained this right. If not, let me know and I'll give it another shot.
I'd like to know a proper reason as to how the humanoid pet NPC came to exist in the canon Subetaverse, if we're going to keep them around.
I understand what you mean but, really, all the pets should be anthro to some extent to make sense. How are species without hands supposed to use weapons when battling? How are they supposed to do jobs which require hands? I suppose we could do without the clothes.
I'm curious about the background for the Harvester - a humanoid creature which wears clothes and carries a scythe. It could definitely carry weapons in battle but I'm wondering how a Tutani does. :)
I always picture the Xotl holding weapons with its tongue. Hands are so yesterday.
Now that you mention it, ontras don't seem to have thumbs... Poor Alexander must have a very hard time turning pages when he's reading. xD He seems to be able to hold books just fine with his tail, however.
Maybe some species use magic to move and hold objects? I know koras are supposedly skilled with psychic powers. Some pets might use their mouth, or other limbs like tails, or tentacles.
There was a topic with TONS of non-canon pet lore in the pets forum, now that I think about it... I really loved the idea behind it and there was lots of creativity put into it.

ngl, I snickered at that mental image.
