I totally get that it's stifling, believe me xD; But...it shows they care, at least. Would be better if they didn't fight you, obviously, but still.

It's great that you're happy, working on a different story now. Writing shouldn't be a job that you dread. Frustrated with sometimes? Yes. But hate? Absolutely not. Especially when writing is something you love doing.

I wish I had advice to offer for when your parents argue about the changes to your story (because you're right - it's your story and they have no right to be squawking about the changes made), but I do not, I'm afraid ^^; But I'm still here if you need anything, dude owo And I do mean that.

Hey, at least your parents care enough to fight you about your changes. Mine do not =w=; At all. My mom's only concern is whether or not I'll be a wealthy author. She's always telling me send my stuff to literary agents and get it published, but when she asks me to tell her what it's about, she zones out and, I'm not kidding, has only ever said "oh well, your characters names, did you come up with all those? That's great". And that's it. I've tried telling her more about it, but...she doesn't listen. That was literally the only comment she's ever made and she's still pushing me to publish. As for my dad, well...he wanted me to go into computer programming. Like him. He still wants me to, and whenever I call him and try to tell him about my book, he'll either turn the topic over to his latest religious studies or "how much he wants me to take a programming class". He's the reason I grew up with mythology and folklore, which my story is heavily involved with, but...it's fiction. He'll remind me that it's "fiction" and a "waste of time".

We don't fight, but...there's a reason I don't tell them anything about my stories. I tell them I'm writing and that's it.

Granted, people fighting the changes you make to your story is annoying, and I get that...but they at least care. Heck, my mom's a freaking artist, she paints, and she draws, and...reading and fiction just has never been something they've been into.
