Down to the home stretch! Only 10 days left in the Reading Contest! If you haven't got all of the books you need yet, I hope that you're at least working on it!

The Accessory Shop has received a shipment of interesting colored bow ties. Enjoy!

It seems the Icy Goods shop has come up with new flavors of ice cream for everyone to enjoy this summer. :)

Hi all! Okay, so I believe (and never before have I so hoped I'm right!) that I've had a breakthrough with the server config. For the first time, our database servers seems to actually be using a significant part of it's muscle.

So tell me in comments here: is the site fast for you? Or does it still leave something to be desired (and even if so, is it better than before?)

Oh, dear. You see? This is what happens when we overload the artists with too many "What about the [insert not-yet-released pet color combination here]??" comments!

NOTE: The scribble ruffie, chai, and malticorn are revamps. The manchu and Experiment are new additions to the scribble roster!

The Beach Shack has a new line of summer wear for everyone to enjoy. :o

Hi all! It's been a few days since the Big Move, so I thought I'd post a little status update. I wanted to address some things that might be on people's minds (cough lag), and talk about where we go from here.

So yeah, the lag issue. I've heard a few people say that they wish we'd stayed on the old servers, since the site seems slower on the new servers. While this may be true, it's by no means the whole picture.

We didn't move to make the site faster, at all. We moved because the old servers were actually causing our database to become corrupt and eventually crash the site entirely, at which point the site was down until we could recover the database. Sometimes even our real-time backup was corrupt, which led to much-hated rollbacks.

Obviously, something had to change, and so we moved off of the old servers and onto our new ones, which so far (crosses fingers) seem rock solid. Our database has been taking much more punishment than it was ever capable of handling before, and it's handling it with grace, not locking up or crashing or anything. A HUGE improvement!

On the other hand, things do seem slower... that much is the truth. Why? It could be for any number of reasons... not least of which is the fact that we started an event immediately upon moving here. Also, servers are not simple boxes that you plug in and turn on. They have more configuration options (think buttons and knobs and dials) than you could imagine. Getting the settings right for these servers might take some time.

But by far the biggest point is this: now that we're free of servers that crash and corrupt the database, we can begin to address Subeta's performance issues in earnest. These problems are rooted in the programming, and that, I can fix :)
