And first place goes to , playing as Princess Jasmine! Here is the winning costume:

In her own words: "Princess Jasmine from the Disney Classic movie, "Aladdin," was my inspiration. She is featured here with her pet tiger, Rajah. She lives in the palace of Agrabah (also shown behind her) which is located in the desert."

Congrats to the winners! I'm actually glad it's not all anime wins. I honestly thought those would be the ones cause there were tons of anime/manga entries, especially ones I never seen before. I think categories would be good for next year. I voted based on the effort/likeness of who they are imitating and these are all fantastic. Love the old spice guy, what a wonderful idea! <3 This comment is now diamonds. XD

As for bitter people and conspiracy theories... seriously get over it. It's not a presidential election.

You know guys, if you're sa no L or no Sebastian from Black butler won, go look at how easy it is to make a cosplay from these guys, and compare to the complexity done with some of these winners.

Oh man, I love that Miguel cosplay. xD I never saw that entry, I would've totally voted for it~ I didn't see a few of the other ones too, but there were a couple days when I wasn't online to vote anyway, so whatevs. P: Congratulations everyone! And thanks to all the staff who put the contest together, it was tons of fun, I'd love to see more things like it in the future. I don't think I even have the heart to change out of my cosplay yet.

I voted for The Man Your Man Could Smell Like (Amazing cosplay! ) and The eighth place Carl Fredrickson.

I have to say The Man Your Man Could Smell Like cosplay was my favorite, and I'm glad it got third place. All the others are amazing as well, don't get me wrong, I just loved that cosplay to death.

Congrats to all who won! You deserved it!

Congrats to the winners.. well deserved

I have to say, I LOVED this part of the event. I haven't ever put so much thought into a costume and I looked forward to voting because I saw so many brilliant HAs every day. Some people were so imaginative and when I'd look at the ref and realize just how perfect a person had managed to recreate it, it made me really appreciate all that's been done for us here as far as clothing is concerned and how many people here are just over the top creative.

Congrats everyone! I do wonder how many points you guys got. xD

The issue I regularly saw with anime/video game cosplays were that they were either:

  1. plain clothes thus far too easy to cosplay
  2. missing some really obvious items. Seriously I saw someone without a gun when their ref had a gun. If you can't afford all the items in the ref then don't use that ref or do that character.
  3. refs weren't clear or complete. I'm supposed to judge you based on a HEADSHOT? REALLY?
  4. No refs. Just cuz you watch the anime or play the game and recognise yourself right away, doesn't mean the rest of us do.

I love how much Disney is in winners row. If I cosplayed at any convention it would be something Disney FOR SURE.

Was mostly surprised at the lack of Harry Potter showing up there!

DEAR KEITH AND STAFF, THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR A SUPER-FUN EVENT THAT I, AND EVERYBODY ELSE POSTING HERE (even the complainers) PARTICIPATED IN. YOU DID THE BEST JOB YOU COULD WHILE DOING A NEW EVENT FOR US AND IT TURNED OUT REALLY WELL. I'M SORRY THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE SELFISH, ANNOYING, CRY BABIES AND CAN'T APPRECIATE ANY OF YOUR HARD WORK. LOVES FOREVER (with rainbows & glitter & streamers,) Alicia.

The main reason I didn't vote for many Anime characters was that alot of the cosplays were really easy. When voting, they first had to have a reference. If I immediately knew who they were without a reference, then awesome and i would consider it, but most of them with no reference i had.. no idea. Then, I was drawn to the ones that i recognized. But even if i didn't recognize it, i would vote, considering it was a good and complex cosplay - when someone does a cosplay of an anime character that's super accurate, but because it's like, a suit, i wasn't impressed. I was more looking for complexity and ingenuity when voting than accuracy. (For example, i think the Tia Dalma one is great, and obviously required a lot of creative thinking.)

I only saw and voted for The Man Your Man Could Smell Like. As stated previously the rest never showed up as options on any of the pages that I saw. Like others have also said... I too voted for who I thought had the best costume and the most creative ideas and I will admit that I voted for many of the anime entrants. I too am disappointed that almost everything in the top 10 was from Disney/Pixar when there were so many other great categories of cosplay characters. I took the time to look at every reference picture and cosplay character to gauge the likeness and effort. I voted for many of the anime, fantasy and sci-fi characters. I did NOT vote for the character but for the talent! However...this was fun!!!

- you can't simultaneously tell people who wished something Anime-related had made it into the top ten to ''grow up'' while cheering that the Old Spice guy got it. People will value what they like, and want it to win. Really... there's no difference... only bias.

Congrats to the winners! I think I only saw (and voted for) the Buzz Lightyear entry- the rest never showed up as options. Like others, I voted for who I thought had the best costume and the most creative idea- I personally never would have thought about characters like the main character from "Up", or any of the other winners if I had entered the contest myself. If they had a creative idea AND pulled it off well, I voted for it. Only once did I vote for an entry without a ref picture though (even if I knew the character) because it wasn't enough to just look sorta like a character, I wanted to see HOW well they became that character (details can mean everything!)

There were a lot of great anime and video game characters too- some I voted for, some I didn't. If I thought one entry was more clever than another, that's who got my vote.

Awesome cosplays, guys! ^__^ Congrats to the winners. Next convention, I hope the contest is separated into categories. Video games, Manga/Anime, Tv Shows, Movies.. you know, stuff like that. I think that would be more organized than what happened this year. c: But yes, it was great fun anyways!

All of the winners are great, but...I'm a little dissapointed that almost everything was from disney/pixar. I know a lot of people who put a TON of effort into making costumes from lesser known anime/game series and didn't even get a second look because everyone was lazy and only voted for recognizable characters. I'm not saying I have a huge problem with it, since I knew it was going to happen, but perhaps next time we have something like this, we should have different categories? Like movies in one section, anime/games in another, disney, in another, etc. so that we can have a little bit of everything win? Just a suggestion. Again, congrats to all of the winners!

Oh, and I'll second the disappointment at all the winners being recognizable (somewhat. Old Spice Guy... not so much.) but alas, that's how things work with these contests.
