And first place goes to , playing as Princess Jasmine! Here is the winning costume:

Um yes.

Congratulations, everyone, and yaaaay Thiabb. I'm glad to see that no anime ones placed (ew anime bias bias) but the two Carls is sort of offputting. Nevertheless they're all fantastic cosplays and definitely worth the placements. I believe I managed to see every one of them throughout the competition, but I only voted for Spasmodically. That was just too lovely.

The top ten were all great cospslays that definitely deserved to do well. Congratulations to the winners.

All the same I must admit to being a little disappointed that all the winners were of such instantly recognisable characters... Personally, I took the time to look at every reference pic to gauge the likeness, and well over half the cosplays I voted for were of characters I didn't recognise. The results make me think that most people didn't bother to do that, and I can't help but wonder if voting might have gone differently had reference pics been automatically displayed next to HAs.

Congrats to the winners <: I think I only say 2 of those up there the whole time I voted Although, if I saw the others, I probably would have voted for him. I /am/ sad that there aren't any video game characters or anime characters, though - I saw several cosplays that were simply AMAZING from video games and animes. Oh, well xD

A thousand times this. I never saw any of the winners on my voting page (just one of the Up guys, and I loved it). And you don't have to know a movie/serie/anime to see, with the reference pic, if the cosplay is good or bad and if it deserves your vote. I really don't like it how this contest was managed, and I really hope that, if there's a next one, all this mistakes get fixed.

All of the top ten were HA Cosplays that I personally thought were excellent, which is awesome for me to see ^^;;

The only thing I think is a shame still is how many repeats I saw every voting chance, and I think I saw Spasmodically's entry only ONCE the entire event... which just seems so odd! I never saw my friends' cosplays, or many people I know from Forums, either, but I'm hoping that those kinds of weirdances (I know, not a word) are worked out if we ever have the chance to have a cosplay contest again, as it was SO much fun!!

Thanks to the staff for actually making this kind of mass event POSSIBLE, and for even incorporating the voting into the points system, which I think was cool.

CONGRATS TO THE TOP TEN!

Japan Cosplay is indeed Anime related. Where as England/USA cosplay is really any sort of character, which you can see if you ever go to comic Con. Hello, Darth vader?

http://www.cosplay.co.uk/ Interesting read.

Anywho, Congrats to all of the winners! I am in awe of your creativity. Buzz lightyear def. Blew me away when it came up on my voting screen!

Love the winners c: Congrats guys you did awesome. I'm not so pleased with the people that are for some reason... validated that Anime lost? That's a little sad guys XD The ones that won were the popular ones the end, who cares what country they spawned from.

Also Miguel I love you.

I didn't vote for anyone without reference pictures.

Also, I don't think I ever saw most of those in the voting thing.

Congratulations to everyone who won! I think I voted for all of you, including both the Carls. They were all really well done! As for the people saying that only anime/manga is cosplay, I get where you're coming from, but Japan definitely did NOT originate the idea of dressing up like a character. (Hello Halloween anyone?) And I'd imagine that probably half the Subeta users don't watch anime or read manga. Why should they not be allowed to enter the costume contest because it's an "anime" event? (Not that it was. Perhaps the event should've been called a "Costume Contest" instead of "Cosplay" but I certainly think that dressing up like Madonna is as much cosplay as dressing up like Sailormoon.)

It's pretty obvious now that characters that are well known and highly recognizable (and well done) would be the ones that won. Probably 90% of users have seen or know or like the Disney Aladdin movie. Toy Story 3 just came out, featuring Buzz. It's just no surprise that characters which are so well done and so recognizable would be the ones that win. Even among huge anime fans who love tons of series, you're likely not to know every single anime costume.

As for me, I first voted for characters I knew. If I didn't know any of the characters (or thought they were poorly done, or had already voted for them), I went by how well the costume matched the referene picture. I voted many times for costumes I didn't know, but which matched the ref picture, or which were really clever. And if I didn't like any of them after that, I went with ones with no ref pictures but which looked really cool anyway.

In any event, I'd like to see a page of all the costumes somewhere so I can see all the costumes I missed, and perhaps congratulate a few other users on their excellent cosplays that didn't win.

Grats winners! I'm totally not surprised by the winners, I voted for a few of them myself. I personally was an anime character, but I realize that even out of the portion of Subeta players that watch anime their tastes are varied, and thus it isnt always recognizable to outsiders. C'est la vie, next year I'll do Disney.

I don't particularly like Aladdin, and this cosplay was not my favorite, but still a decent cosplay regardless. Congratulations!

I'm wondering if somehow your own team's HA's came up more often in your voting. I just noticed that most of the Nico winners never came up for me at all, with the exception of the Old Spice guy one time, but the Manwar winners all came up for me many multiple times.

My theory to why anime didn't win is because...not many people knew who the hell half the people were. I don't watch anime, so I of course, voted for any Disney/Harry Potter I saw, since I know nothing about anime. Even WITH the references, I didn't vote anime since, hey, I don't like it.

So congratulations to all the winners! They're fabulous, very well done, and the Old Spice guy make me chuckle. Fantastic work.

Congratulations to the top 10 winners and all of the other entries as well. I saw a few of the winners but I also saw many many fantastic others. I would love to be able to visit a gallery of all of the entries so I could see all the ones that I never saw to vote on and to revisit the ones that I did. There were so many fantastic HA's in the contest, it seems a shame to have them simply disappear. Please Subeta, give us a gallery of all the contestants! It was great fun! Good job everyone!

All the costumes are brilliant. Im just dismayed at the lack of anime and game characters, there were some amazing characters such as a Lightning I saw. Cosplay originated in Japan, I believe, as dressing up as anime and game characters. Even when I go to real conventions I'm a little disapointed at how many disney characters they are (I do welcome them however, they are animated characters after all) as well as some movie characters (avatar, alice in wonder land ect) However I dont believe people truly understood what cosplay is, luckily none of the lady gaga or madonas got in to the top ten and as much as I love the advert who won 3rd place, I dont think it really should have been entered as a cosplay. Also a bit miffed that the same character won twice. I would have liked a varied ammount of winners, not just disney and pixar basically. Dispite my long comment seeming like a rant, congrats to everyone who won, and im sorry if I have accidently insulted someone, I never meanted to upset anyone, just simply put my point across. The term 'cosplay' really should have been made more known as to its real meaning- not just meer dress up as madona...

Let's see, we got two Carl Fredricksons, and 8 out of 10 are disney characters (Except for Edward Scissorhands and the guy from the body wash commercials.) Although over all, I don't hate the results.

I'm disappointed that Carl from Up took 2 winning slots? That seems a bit off. It was a good movie but... 2? I didn't see any of these entries and I voted quite a few times. I love Disney, but it is kinda lame that they swept the contest. Even if the avatars I voted for didn't win, I did get to see some interesting stuff which is always fun.

Go, Old Spice Guy! xD

The really odd thing is that neither the first nor the second place winner ever came up in my voting choices at all. I did vote for the Old Spice guy as being clever. I also voted for Betty White from the Snickers commercial and Spongebob. If something was creative or unique it got my vote, some of which I had absolutely no idea whatsoever on whom or what they were based. One that I voted for was just a beautifully done all black and white HA. It had no reference, so I'm clueless as to what it was supposed to represent.

I'm more surprised that no Subeta based entries came in a place. Mostly because I did one. XD

NOT amazed that anime ones didn't win. There's too many animes out there. Just because you've heard of it, and your collective of friends watched the series once, doesn't mean everyone int he world is all KAWAII DESU NE??!?!? ^__________^

Disney is a more universal thing. So sorry, whiny ones.

Because all conventions involving character costuming are anime conventions, amirite? Heard of SDCC? It's predominately Western. Well, before teen girls ruined it (more) with their Twilight shit and turned into a pop culture clusterfuck, anyway. I don't even know what to call it at this point.

Oh, all the people bitching about the lack of anime/video games/there being so much Disney etc.; The hell did you expect? Most people voted for what they recognized. Pretty much every character that got in the top 10 was someone most of the user base could probably recognize, and you see all kinds of things at conventions. Of fucking course the things that got voted highest are going to be in the TOP 10 and not all of the user base is into anime and all that, more are into the kinds of things that won. Please stfu already <3
