You can now send pets to your friends! This can be accomplished by going to your <a href=/pets.php>pets</a> page, and clicking on the pet you'd like to send.

Choose the option "Give pet to friend" and you can send it to anyone on your buddy list.

<i>Reminder</i>: There is no pet selling or trading on Subeta. If you are caught selling pets and sending them via this method, you will be frozen. :)

Exactly, Joyberry.

I think on neo it doesnt work because its 'about the value of a pet' but HERE on subeta, in our community, I think people will trade pets for the sake of giving away a pet someone wants and getting one in return. At any rate, if my friend really wanted one of mine, and I really wanted one of theirs-- is this suggesting that making that 'exchange of sending' would count against us?

Uh, to me, this is a little stupid. Other then the fact that you gain another pet what's the difference between trading and sending? If you're going to let people send pets over to each other you might as well let them trade. Because no DOUBT people will use this as a trading thing. Unless you keep your eye's wide open for that there's no preventing it. Even when you do watch over this like a hawk, you're likely to miss some trading.

Almost everyone is saying that trading shouldn't be allowed because people should work to gain their own pets. So how does that not go into effect when it comes to sending pets?

I love the no trading thing. I hate it on Neo. It's all about the "value" of a pet. Ugh!!!

No trading? How silly. I thought it was awesome when neo finally allowed trading-- but they made it stupid. You can only do it a limited number of times per whatever amount of time.

And here we finally have the ability to send pets, but can't just trade them? Pffft.

Neat feature, shame it doesn't encompass multiple situations other than "I don't want this, here."

I dislike. As people below have said, this is going to encourage pet lending for the BC. Isn't the BC being revamped to prevent lending and to encourage people to earn stuff themselves?

Where is the line drawn for pet trading? Like, let's say I send one of my pets to my friend because they like that pet, and they say "hey, I know you've always liked PETNAME, and I don't want him anymore, so you can take him". Is that considered pet trading, or just an exchange?

Common sense dictates that pet trading would be considered "I'll give you this Galactic Kora if you give me that Reborn Paralix", or "I want a Bloodred Kumos, and you can have any pet of mine in exchange", or "What will you give me for my Nightmare Chelon?". But does pet trading include "Thank you for that Glacier Lain. Would you like my Spectrum Montre?"

... Either way, I kind of wish we had this back when that one person quit and offered me Byakko. He would have gone so well with my Suzaku

Oh well, at least Byakko has a good home... and I still have Byako (just one K less)

Trading pets is an absolutely terrible idea for a larger website like Subeta. It won't be long before people start sticking "value" tags on pets... I could already envision something like, "This pet is UFT! Seeking other rare pets of the same value!"

A more efficient way? Seriously? How do you propose this system is improved? It's straight forward, and if people are going to lend pets for achievements, setting up safeguards is never going to prevent that. People will do what they will do.

And really, you are presuming yourself as well. While you yourself may have had no worries, there are people who land on both sides of it. And really, it does make things MUCH more straight forward instead of setting up a transfer time, confirming it, etc. etc.

I have two questions:

  1. Will we be allowed to have 'collateral'/tips/etc when we lend pets (if lending is even allowed)?
  2. If so, how will this be distinguished from selling pets? Just making sure the items get sent back at the end? That seems like a large amount of work.

Seems like a rather gray area. Other than that, eh?

Actually, you couldn't be farther from the truth. You know what they say about assumptions....

I've made a few adoption threads back in my more active days and I never had a problem. Check older topics if you'd like. Though it may have made you nervous, there was and still would be a way to do it safely and efficiently is all I'm saying.

The term 'pet hoarders' refers to the users who stalk the adoption forums, apply for pets, get them, and then get bored of them, going through them like water just for the sake of having that "OMFG AMAZING NAME". People do it. I saw it over the two month span I spent searching for a pet to fill my last slot- I went to the board again recently, and saw the same users searching for a pet to fill their last slot permanently. For the umpteenth time. I guess pet hoarders is a personal term. xD Sorry for the confusion, as I'm now realizing the term doesn't fit the description.

That'll make things easier for people who want to adopt older pets. ^^ I got my Pandoras_Illusion that way. And Remithian. I would zap pets for others but I am too in love with each my 13 pets to give any up and free a slot. They are my babies.

You really aren't very familiar with the pet threads, are you? Seriously, this will be a huge help for all of the people who zap and adopt out pets. Not to mention people do give pets to their friends, and using the pound makes some people really nervous.

Not that I'd do it, as I love my pets, but if someone has 11 pets slots (the +5 for the GA and +1 for the loyalty box) and then sent all but one of their pets out to get the Only Room for One achievement, would they lose their +1 slot, going back down to 10?

Also, "So yeah. I don't see why this feature was needed, except to encourage laziness among pet hoarders. "

Pet hoarders? This phrase doesn't seem to really fit the whole Subetian way of life since we can only have 1 account and therefore, only the pets that that account has space for. It's hard to "hoard" pets, even with super extra deluxe pet spots. :/

I fail to see the benefit in pet swapping. If it's for achievements then the acheivements should be hard-earned, not an easy swappie with a friend. There's more satisfaction that way. Same goes for the BC, tbqh it should be another case of DIY. Things in life don't just get handed to you, it's gonna detract from the fun of earning an acheivement or winning a BC tourny when it's too easy.

Agreed and . While I see all the advantages of making safe transfers of pets, associating it with an achievement is bait for this to be abused. Sure you can send it to a buddy on your list, but it can only be stressed so much that you should only do so with users you trust. For anyone that plans to try using this to sell your pets, enjoy your ban. People with enough friends with open spots may even be able to retroactively grab the "Room for One" achievement.

Nice new feature, but cautious optimism for all the issues that may come with it.
