Hi all! I'm happy to report that the fight against General Error, who recently revealed himself as the commander of the SQL army, is going well. To further the efforts of the Subeta SQL Resistance Front, we've decided to institute a weekly strategic downtime window every Tuesday beginning at 1AM Subeta time (EST) and hopefully ending around 2-3AM.

We're going to use this weekly downtime to take backups, make changes to the servers, and of course to plant more traps for those pesky SQLs. ;)

We've chosen the downtime window right after the weekend so we can ensure that our backups are taken immediately after the time of greatest activity for our users.

The first instance of this downtime will be tonight at 1AM EST.

To arms, friends! Let us stand and defend Subeta against the SQLs!

People need to take a chill pill. Its weekly, guess, not every single day. I think that if its for the best of the site then it needs to be done, besides, its only a few hours instead of longer like it could be if something goes wrong. :/

OMG - relax! read a book, draw something, watch a movie, call a friend, whatever - things have been worse. people who are mostly online at this time have an advantage as most other people aren't. so they are able to grab more stuff at the shops. please stop complaining. free hugs

Ok ok, now just calm down. Put out those humane, no kill traps, send all the sqls to me and I will relocate them to a sever free island where they cannot bother anyone again. Temptation will be removed and they can go back to being the adorable little squirrels that we love.

I know a handful of websites who run similar architecture to Subeta's that use one-hour or so backups weekly to keep running smoothly. I hope it works just as well for Subeta as it does for some of them.

it's a pain for some time zones, but I think you guys chose a good time overall. =) Glad to know things are getting backed up on a regular basis while most of us should be sleeping XD
