I have have the BEST SS! He/She is awesome and i dont have a problem getting things back at all. We spend the same amount of money on eachother!
Same..I sent nice items , and got nothing in return. Nothing at all, I wish I could get something, even worthless..

I didnt get anything back from my last SS. I only sent an item worth a few thousand sp's as a test to make sure they were participating (which obviously they weren't) since yesterday I sent a couple of things but only got one back.
Some people are obviously in it to get stuff.
Maybe when some SS receives a present worth 50k and they can't afford to send one worth 50k back - they feel bad, like their gift will seem cheap so they don't send anything. It anonymous so they don't need to worry but maybe they do.
SS's in classrooms etc always have a price limit. If there is a lot of non participation going on maybe a limit would help. We can always save the rare or expensive presents for our friends.

I think that there should be a way for the admins to keep track of who is paired up and if you get a SS who is abusing it- just taking items and not giving anything- you can report it. Then, if that person gets enough reports, they get banned from participating. I understand that things happen, but if it's an everyday thing that they sign up and just take they shouldn't be allowed to ruin it for people who spend their time thinking of nice things to send.

I've been sending items over 50k, UBs and DPs.. and got 3 items worth 100sP... but.. whatever..
You have to sign up again once it resets.
And, I dunno about you guys, but I like getting stuff just as much as giving. ^-^
A lot of my stuff didn't even go through, which sucked because I had a really nice SS. : ) Do they roll over to the next person automatically, or do you have to sign up again?
I feel so bad, the lag before made me not able to give my first SS anything, even though they gave me nice stuff. It's not always the person's fault they can't give things.

no i don't think you're wrong. -points to comment below mine- my second secret santa is a dud too, nothing yet. its just my luck that i get the ones who seem to be in it for the items...i mean, i don't need expensive unbuyables and dps but...dang it i'd even be happy with a spork loves sporks for some reason XD

I learned last year a good lesson. At first I was bombing my SS with loads of nice gifts only to have nothing and I mean NOTHING in return. So I start sending a few nice things and waiting to see if anything returned. If I didn't recieve anything back, well they got a few nice things. If they did then I would bomb them over and over, I always made sure I checked before the day was over just in case. I know this might sound rude to some. BUT to me and others like me that send out loads of stuff and get nothing in return...imagine how we feel. I still send stuff I just send more if the giving and recieving is on both sides. I don't expect expensive nice things. I don't care if its a bunch of sand, its the idea that you are sending stuff. Am I wrong for thinking and doing this?

I left to go shopping and came back to a reset on the secret santa. I thought it was an all day thing, and you got a new one the next day? Plus, the site is very , very slow for me. It's hard to get anything sent. Please fix it, lol

Sounds like the system needs a bit of work. Would it be too hard to make it so that partners could be sorted out by the rarity range of items they're willing to send, for one? As for people not sending anything back...
I KIND OF want to join, but...it doesn't sound like it's working too swell so far. It makes me not want to send anything until I see what I get from my partner first, and that's just going to start a vicious cycle.
i love this idea and was keen but thought it odd my ss didnt obviously think so, i was wondering why they signed up then i came to read this and it restored my faith , i hope i get matched with one of you next time as you seem to enjoy the spirit that was intended ,
yes its said always better to give than recieve but at least remember to show some cheer , even santa gets left milk and cookies

I do think that your SS should at least send something ... if you aren't going to even send anything, why would you sign up? And if you aren't around for a few days, then you wouldn't have signed up for that day anyway ... so it doesn't matter.
Anyway, I'm sure nothing will change about it ... but it is a little sad to send some nice things and get absolutely nothing back in return. I guess that is the "joy" of being a secret santa.

i'm not the richest subetan...i'm also rather new, but i've worked hard for my sP and i'm not really thrilled at getting nothing right now =/ i sent a few cute things i hope my SS likes, if i get anything in return i might send a couple more things. i guess that's just how i'll do it. if i get bombed i'll try to go all out in return XD
I love this....it doesn't matter what I get in return...I love the idea of giving to someone and hopefully making them smile. As to what to send..I like doing themes...I also need to remember not everyone can afford to send UB's or expensive items, they may just be beginning subeta during this wonderful season of giving.
I'm sad, my SS is giving back the items they don't like. T__T It's not like they couldn't sell it and at least gain sp for the items. But giving back gifts, unless you originally gave the person some nice items and they gave you something like a spork in return, is not very nice at all.
I'll wait an hour or so before I give my SS anything else. >.>

I know giving is better than receiving.. and I should feel grateful for anything I receive back.. but I sent my little SS old DPs and UBs... and.. I'm getting like.. pure junk in return.. I'm not sure if I want to do the SS anymore after today.. especially since I don't know who I'm being so nice to and getting crap from.
I hope I get something from my SS, I sent them some nice items. Either way, I love giving presents!~

I'm sorry to hear that some people are having bad experience with this. It would be great if we could maybe select a price range at the beginning and be set up with users who would be willing to spend around that much money? I dunno, it would still not be perfect, but maybe a little better?
Basically try and send your SS the same range of gifts that they are sending you. 
Treat it like you are sending gifts to a friend that you care about. That is how I am approaching it.
Teri, send what you want... when you want...and whatever you can afford... if you get back some nice things then base your spending on that if you want/can afford...
last year I had a great ss and I also gave nice stuff . even if I get low stuff I still will give some good items, Christmas is all about giving,
if majority of the players are gonna moan and complain maybe they should not join ss
