I am new this year to SS how often do I send a gift and is there a specific amount of SP to send? answers are greatly appreciated Thanks.

i'm under the impression that you have to sign up to participate every day.. it's not everyday if you signed up today... and if you can be on to accept playing secret santa then you can at least send one item when you sign up.. i really don't think there's an excuse for not sending something if you freely choose to play SS that day...
I love this, but have to say: come on people, don't be tacky!!! Send your SS something nice as you would wish to receive, not junk.....
I also sent my SS a ton of good stuff including a DP and got a couple low end items back.
That's fine, its all about the giving, and each day we get a new SS, I just wish people would respect their fellow users a bit more.
I sent even Wizard Tokens to mine, but they sent sporks in exchange. Bawwwww ._.
I think the idea of banning someone for not sending a gift is a poor idea. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'll be out of town for a few days at the end of December. Because of that, I'll have limited access to the internet and won't be able to return as many gifts to a SS as I'd like (not to mention I can't remove myself from the SS commitment during that time period). I wouldn't want to be banned from participating just because I can't be as timely in sending my gifts.
Think about time-zones, all...someone might have submitted entry into the SS event and have to leave immediately thereafter, not having time to be paired up and gift their partner. Not everyone's on at the same time, and not everyone has the same budget for gifts. Some people may have the extra cash to send elixirs and potions and DPs and UBs...but to others, shelling out the sP for a meager 500 sP item might be a huge sacrifice (especially as I know a lot of Subetans are trying to save up to buy for people that they know).
In the long and short of it, it's Day 1 of SSing and the day isn't even over. Pairs switch up every 24 hours, so it's inevitable that you'll get some really great SS partner one time and one that's a little less committed or affluent the next.

Hmm sending 10mil in items and getting an item 100x below that, priceless. Can't complain at least they sent something. I will say I am glad there is veil of secrecy to this because I would definitely block my secret santa in a heart beat if I ever found out who they were.

I think this is a blast. My SS sent me a 10k sP voucher x3 Love them. So I sent them an Uncharted map piece.
Mine sent me something costing 100sp and that's it. Not gonna bother sending them anything else. : / hate greed.
Aww, I feel sorry for you guys. But reading through this, I'm starting to think that maybe there's a glitch that doesn't send items properly or...something. I don't know if my SS got my gift yet. 
Yeah, I'm done giving too. My SS just sent back all the gifts I sent to them so I guess he/she didn't like them very much. I'll keep the really good gifts I was gonna give out for someone who is worth it

xD Me and my secret santa today are sure having a gift bomb war.
As I had suspected, people are taking items out from donation center and dump them in Secret Santa, lol.
Well, anyway, since I dunno what my partner wants, so I'm just giving out plushies :3
xD I do like giving more than recieving, but I wish they'd send at least one thing back, just so you know they're not only in it for the items. 
Errr, now I have a bad feeling that this Secret Santa is going to turn out like another version of Mystery Box :/

exactly.. thats why i said i would have been happy if they had sent even dung fruit.. something to show that they were willing to participate after joining instead of using the game....i sent them stuff .. i understand not everyone has extra sp.... but 1 sp everyone has....maybe this year those participating who donn't send 1 item will be banned for the rest of december....

And I have given quite abit but only recieved a few 100sP items back.
I know its not all about what you get,but also fun by giving..For the first time I have done it..It is disappointing because there are people just doing it to get items and not actually taking part because its fun to do and give aswell as recieve.
Hopefully it does get better in the day or the next days,because its a good idea..I just dont want to be giving items day after day and getting nothing back..I want fun from giving and recieving.

P.S. Instead of bombing the other person and not getting items back, maybe you should wait until they send their gift before you send yours, and just go like that throughout the day.

Oh, and something else, I tend to give a few little things when I get a partner, then nada until right before they SS resets, when I flood them. So.. bear that in mind folks, but sadly, yes, I am sure there will be those who just are in it to get, and not give.
I joined and I'm happy to get whatever my SS can afford. Saying that - I've only received a few items and they are all of the cheaper (under 100sP) variety. shrugs Thought that counts I suppose.
I agree with Quon, last year I never got anything in return last year either, lets how that this year is different.
