Yeah, I'd really like to know what about the old fester is goth/emo/dark. I mean...come on.

The new fester looks more like an actual vulture if you guys have ever googled one. They are SHORT and stocky, not long and lanky. Honestly, it not looking like a vulture anymore is a weak argument. It never did in the first place.

Honestly I think this looks worse than the old one. Sure, it's cleaner and all, but it looks more like an eagle where the old one looked like a vulture.

I liked the vulture look better.

My opinion is that the new is worse:
a) it's no longer scraggly. It lacks the old's personality. all the newbies who say, "OMG iT's sCaRy!1" are much too easily scared.
b) subeta is getting less and less dark, it's disappointing.
c) the new fester looks like an eagle.
d) the new fester has a boring pose
e) if anything, for the sake of being sentimental, almost everyone who has been on beta for a while wants to keep the old one.

I like the new one. Personally, the old ones kinda creeped me out, and I DON'T have a bird fear. And I, like most, still think the essence of the fester is there. It's not cute or cuddly; it looks strong and majestic, kind of like a proud hunter. I don't know if I'd ever adopt one, but I'm much more likely, if they look like this.

P.S. Just a comment - When they redid the Kumos last week, my boyfriend had a fit. That's the only pet he owns, one Kumos. I basically told him that if he didn't like, he knew what to do. You can't please everyone, but you can please the majority.

Well Now I am plum asshamed of myself. Here I took this so personal as if all of Subeta went against me and was changing MY festers to hurt me.
How much did I overate myself. First of all they are not my Festers. They are Subeta's Festers.

My dear Lycan is not one bit offended of course not because she is a proper lady and not a big ol baby like me.
I am afraid a person's feelings got hurt and you know what that makes me feel horrid.

I think we should rally around tategami and treat her with the respect that artists deserve. They work so hard and I am keeping my pets Festers whether they are this version the current or something totally different because if I morphed HRH I am afraid she might end up in the Subetan Sanitorium for the Criminally Insane.

Hey HRH really loves her long legs is there any way we can compromise on the legs please?Unlike my other humble Festers.HRH thinks she is the cat's meow and fainted when she saw the poll. The wings and torso may look like an eagle but really, that's where the comparison ends. Even the bald eagle isn't bald. 🤷 That's a vulture thing and the most obvious part of the pet [besides the birght green mohawk of course!].

Besides, what you gonna do? Complain that every brown bird with puffed up feathers is an eagle?

Dickie, she's not making the pet more likeable. I think she's simply giving it a bit of an upgrade. If we were making it 'likeable' I'm sure the whole fester Idea would have been scrapped and you'd get something like:

After reading the comments, agreeing with some but disagreeing with others, but I'm not going to go into that because it's already been covered by other users, I have something of my own to say:

On the original, one thing I probably disliked about the design were infact the long legs(i admit though, the long legs look good on the GY fester). To me they made the pet look awkward, and didn't really add to the carrion bird quality this pet was to supposedly have. I don't know, just my personal opinion... In any case, this revamp brings a new strength to the personality of the pet, that the original actually countered with it's nobbly knees and stilted legs.

Tategami kept the good features of this pet, such as the green hair and frigid eyes, updated them, and changed what was unnatractive. She gave the pet actually more personality than it originally had, and made it more attractive for users previously uninterested in the pet, like myself, which I believe was the goal of this redraw. Pleasing the current owners of the pet isn't the prime issue right now, although still something to consider, since it is unpopular with adopters and the whole purpose was to make it more popular, so why not change it drastically like that so that more people are interested in it? There's no point in keeping the pet if very little users are interested... and if it's not changed into something more stylish and attractive, what's the point in keeping it? I know I might be offending fester-lovers slightly... but we just need to face the facts, the fester is greatly unpopular, and if it wants to retain it's presence in Subeta then it needs to gain the love of more users than those who already love it.

Sorry that was long. To Tategami and all the other artists of this site, I really respect your work, and it takes a lot of mental strength to take in so much criticism, but hang in there, you are doing such a wonderful job!! <3

But Kelpie...now it's just an eagle with a mohawk, I thought it looked more different before :/
I think it's good and I know subeta's moved away from the traditional simple cartoon cell shading of lycan and quetzal...I just think pets should be revamped to make the art quality better...not to make the pet more likeable.

Suggestions will be taken, but I just have to say that coathanger really has the idea here. We're trying to make it less distinct what exactly any of our Subeta species are. Because if you can walk up and see it and say "Oh, that's a vulture," how much fun is that? How original is it? And what prevents every other site out there from having the same pet.

Perhaps the legs can be lengthened and a few things tweaked. I personally, am in favor of this look because it looks far stronger and more menacing and I honestly don't get how anyone thinks it's cute.

Tracy, this was meant in no way to offend you, and to be honest, I DID think that something on the site had to be the least adopted. But, then I came to the conclusion that if an UNLIMITED pet was adopted less than all of our limited edition pets, then perhaps that should tell us something. Why shouldn't it be a tad more likable?

Absolutely not, however do not be surprised if the site has a few changes to make the art all match in quality. Now, this is in no way directed at Lycan to be offensive, but the Fester was lacking in something that made it match the other pets. I really don't see how this is "adorable". It's not even remotely "cute" and it still kept every bit of the Fester's arrogance.

However, all that being said, despite the outstanding results of the poll, I will try to persuade Tat to modify a few things. Just please try to be nice to one another...

I like the old one, it reminds me of my dad. And the little stuffed teddy vulture my mum gave him when he was in hospital years ago cuz he was biting everyones head off

I love the new fester. Perhaps the fester is going through a mid life crisis.
Except in this mid life crisis case it ended up looking less scruffy. I do admit there are some features previously mentioned that suit the characteristics of the pet better.. however.. overall this is a beautiful redraw. The small quirks will take some time to love, but you will love your pets once again.

The wings are better bbut it doesn't seem like a fester to me. It seems more like the whole pet idea was changed to make it 'cooler'...whereas I always thought festers were meant to look a bit freaky and ugly.
It's not something I'd cry about though but I'd HATE for the chibi fester to be revamped.
The legs need to be made longer and that blood gotten rid of.

I'm happy that my old drawing that hasn't represented my best work for a long time is being replaced so I don't have to look at it anymore and add to my mental list of faults it has. I'm extra-happy that this time it's being drawn by someone with an understanding of how to draw wings. <3

I'm not a big fan of the blood, as I think anyone who wants blood can fork out for a bloodred potion and everyone else should be able to avoid it if they want to.

wow O_O i loved that new fester! if i didnt already chosen my pets i would adopt one XD... i think the wings are PERFECT. i love birds and wings are my favorite part of them =P and people! if the new fester wins and you dont like it so much, you can still draw your pets pictures the way you like them better ^^ i for an example, like to add things and modify my pets appearance, its cool =)

Personally, I love the blood on its talons. That's possibly my favourite thing about it. I love the smooth colouring and the malicious smirk too.
I like it. I'm not going to complain about it looking too much like an eagle and not enough like a vulture because it's not meant to be a vulture. It's a -fester-, a fictional bird designed by the artists.
That said, I do understand the protests from the Fester lovers. I got like that over the Montre revamp.. which I've come to love.

I've always like the Fester but I don't own one because when there are 50 species and you are only allowed to create 10 pets some hard choices have to be made. It just isn't possible to create every species/color that you like. I'm sure other people feel the same way so I doubt a revamp will effect it's popularity no matter how much people like it. Like all revamps neither old or new is perfect, they both have elements that I like. I prefer the old Fester's ruff and hair but like everything else about the new. The shading and detail on the wings is especially nice.

Maybe the artists are a bit reluctant to change things because, if they change one thing, such as the legs, and then get oh no, FLAMINGO! comments, then requests to change just this one other thing, then that thing, it would never be finished and take forever to finally be released. The artists have a tremendous workload; they really couldn't spend weeks altering and re-altering just one pet. Keith likes it, kelpie likes it, the artists like it, most of the Staff likes it (I haven't heard opinions from a few people yet), and a vast majority of the users like it... so, basicaly, why change it and what's the problem?

I voted for the new fester because I like the way it looks.
Still, I probably wouldn't adopt one. I don't like birds. :{ Gime the shivers. Yet if I got one form the zapper I'd be more inclined to keep it.

And,, upon further consideration, I think people have a point. To fester:to undergo decay. The new fester looks more like an eagle and because of that, I like it better; yet the old fester fits more with it's name.

I also like the idea of combinning the two festers and see what comes out.

I don't see why the fester even has to look 'Vulterish'. I mean, most all the pets on Subeta are based around an animal, but none really look exactly like the real thing.

I adore Festers myself (Tracy can vouch for that!) And I think I'd love the revamp if only the legs were longer! Yes, I know real vultures don't have long legs, but I think that's what attracted me to Festers were the gangly legs! XD

Otherwise, I like the revamp.
Just not the legs. XD
