I like all but the blood on the talons. I think that's pushing it. I did vote for it but I think that small alterations and perhaps the trademark lengthy legs?

I really don't know anyone /personally/ but I constantly see Artists being horribly offended (everyone has different tastes) or Users taking these pets too seriously. We all have opinions but I think we could work on giving AND recieving them.

Augh, this bickering makes Cara extremely angry. Face it, guys. The Fester was due for a makeover. Only a few people on the site liked them and we can't just go by what those few people want. Personally, I adore the new Fester.

Okay I love the fester revamp, but then again that's just me.

I understand that Fester lovers want to see some changes. I mean yesh there is a difference in the new and old.... yesh this no ones opinion matters less than anyone elses. I'm aware of all that. I am NOT blind. Those the reason I like the fester is that it's not just another vulture pet.... or just another bird pet. There are too many bird pets from site to site and now the fester actually stands out (yet again this is my own personal opinion and not the fester lovers, I know.... I also know my opinion is not rule).

Though.... on the first poll of the kumos the vote the pol was much closer in vote than this one. There are 92 people when I last checked who voted for the old (which I understand and adore.... if they like the old... they like the old... I resent people who vote for the old who do it so to spite the artist for not wanting to change their design... yet again my own personal opinion. =/ )

Maybe we can find a middle ground on this fester, but please don't be crapping on the artist 'cause she won't change it. Let's be a little nicer about it all and go, "I'm not wild about this redraw 'cause of such and such... maybe try changing that let's see if it's a bit better possibly?"

The thing about the new fester is, vultures do have a slightly eaglish look to them and they don't have long legs. I personally think the new version works as a suitable middle ground since from the real life pictures I've seen of vultures they do have some slightly eagle like characteristics having been from that family of birds.

I don't think that shooting down users because of their opinions on this revamps is very mature. There are several people on this site that own a Fester, even if it IS the least adopted pet. They just don't want to see their pet/s dramatically changed. That is understandable. Keith liking it is nice, but his opinion is not undisputable law here-- without the users, Subeta would be nothing, because nobody would come here! I don't understand the refusal to make alterations to this revamp either, being an artist myself I understand pride in one's work, but I also wouldn't want to make anyone unhappy with my work if it was on a scale like this. I think that the new Fester is VERY well done, but I have still voted for the old one out of respect to those that wish to at least keep some of the attributes of their Fester that they love so much. Sorry, that's just my honest accessment of this situation.

Some of us already own Festers and as for the artists. I don't think there is one of us who do not appreciate them. As for Keith liking them. I am happy for him but Keith also allows we users to make comments.

And if you look closely there -Keith- likes it himself, I mean, what better endorsement for something is there, then -the- boss liking it? I didn't say it doesn't look vulture-ish.... I said it doesn't look Fester-ish... your current version of the Fester looks much more like a vulture than the original version.
And I think making some modifications to it would certainly appease many, and make the revamp go over better. I know the Montre was modified before it finally went through, and the Kumos has gone through how many versions before it was finally approved?
Would not it be a logical idea to get the input from the majority of the users on the site who would own such a pet before changing it? It seems rather silly to me to just change a pet without getting opinions on it from the people who will be getting or have such a pet. I mean, I'm sure the artists and other staff have probably talked about this revamp already, but there are only about forty of you, surely a wider base to get opinions from could be beneficial?
And yes, I know, I jabber incessantly and probably annoy alot of you... sorry...

My only problem with what you said, Nata, is the fact that everyone who has said "this doesn't look like a vulture!" Is arguing it based upon the -stereotypical- assumption of what a vulture should look like.
I based my redesign upon a mix of the old fester, and -real, true to life vultures-.
Vultures do not have long legs, and their bodies are -very- similar to those of eagles and other birds of prey. Because they -are- part of that family of birds.

And if I were to go through and change everything everyone has suggested (which I most certainly will not do, I am sorry), would it really please those who put up the complaints in the end, or would I be wasting my time?

Personally I've only fostered Festers, but I've also drawn several (particularly Tracy's), not that my art compares to the Staff Artists, but this revamp does rather seem to change the attitude of the Fester, and as I do remember, that was what the biggest arguement over the Montre and Kumos revamps were....
I would not mind this new Fester if there were a few things fixed about it....and Tategami, lemme just right now I mean no disrespect to you or your art, I think its beautiful... it just doesn't seem very... Fester-ish....
Personally, I look at this and see the powerful legs of an eagle stuck on the shallow chest of a sparrow with a vulture's gangly neck and head.... blinks Its an odd combo, but then, I don't think that the staffers need to be experts on avian physiology....
However, Subeta currently has two other short-legged bird type pets (Cybill and Mallrchy) and really, lets try for a little variety and keep a llong legged bird shall we? Otherwise they bear a little too much similarity...
Hmm, you know what, I think my opinions are too long to post here, I shall make a board about this, like we did with the Montre, and get more views there.

Tategami it has nothing at all to do with you sweety. I love the beautiful blue eyes. I just have a real close relationship with Lycan. I loved having pets she drew. She refered me to Subeta even though I think I got the referal thing wrong. As I put Tafka Lycan her DA name not just Lycan as she goes by here. That does not mean you are not a great artist too.
A few suggestions *capture the attitude as Festers are supposed to be full of attitude.
Longer legs as I mentioned before and would you consider the wings being more like the original.
Sorry if I am being a big ol baby it has not one thing at all to do with you, Tategami.

I voted for the old version, for several reasons... mainly, the redraw has a completely different attitude about it, and it looks very Chibi.

Really, I'm having a hard time envisioning my GY Fester looking cute. I mean. He's brooding and mean and grouchy. And thats just not what the new one looks like.

I Love the art style and shading but on behalf of the people who own it i dont think the apperance should be alterd to much just new art for it was needed.
I thought festers were ment to be vultures. This looks to ezagle ish. It needs longer legs at least. But working at a zoo it would also need a longer and now as barrel like chest and less musculer and thinned out wings aswell but thouse arent as big a deal.

My only problems are that the legs are a bit too stubby, and as some mentioned earlier, it looks a bit too eagle-like, since Festers are generally thought of a Vulture/Buzzard-type pets.

The new one bothers me for it's short legs mainly. I saw the old Fester as a mix between an ostritch and a vulture, not an eagle at all, and with a cool bad butt attitude. The new one lacks a lot of character for me. I normally do vote for the new ones, but this one I don't think was done all that well, and it's a major change compared to the old one. Most of the changes are a bit different, but this new one has different eyes, more vibrant colours compared to the more greyish colours about the old one (which I liked), and it's legs are extremely short, not to mention the personality seems to be completely changed.

I wouldn't be bothered by a revamp for the bird, cause it does seem to need one, just a revamp closer to the older one. I don't own a fester, no, but it doesn't mean I absolutely don't like the old one. One of my favorite pets is the old fester graveyard one, of which would also have a drastic change due to this more eagle, shortlegged, different fester, a change which I probably wouldn't like.
