I unlocked him when I zapped one of my pets into a Chibi Mortiking, so alongside the Chibi Mahar below, I think the trick is solidly "zap a pet into the Chibi color, any species."

I sure hope it forces the unlock after a certain number of zaps because otherwise it might take some people years to get the right one, if ever.

Almost but not quite?

I've been zapping

Fireworks multiple times a day, and today alternated his zaps with

Popoko. Just now Fireworks was zapped into a Chibi Jollin, but that did not unlock Euclid as a challenger (didn't count the number of zaps I'd done since Euclid's challenger release, before I got the chibi zap though)

The folks on the Battle Chat thread have figured out that it's definitely getting a chibi zap after a certain number of consecutive zaps. Has to be regular zaps not the pay-for-experiment option, does NOT have to all be on the same pet, and we haven't pinned down the number of zaps yet (but more than three). also hinted that if it doesn't happen after x number of zaps it'll force the unlock, we don't yet know if that means a guaranteed chibi zap or if Euclid will just challenge you to make you go away and stop bothering him (probably the latter).

I had no idea what's going on, but as somebody who uses the zapper several times a day, I just got him as a challenger last night.

this is my zap

my pet is changed to the chibi color (he's a lain), and I don't have anything special in my inventory, just a bunch of items from quests. But if anyone's interested, I can let you know what's in my inventory.

I find it hard to believe that it would be zapping a specific pet/color since the zaps are random because then a lot of people would never get it.

I think the patience part just refers to having to zap multiple times to get a specific result or something. I've zapped a pet with a complete pumpkin collection and nothing happened.
