I, the ever amazing and one TRUE scientist of Subeta, have been having success after success recently. Much better than that other so-called scientist who hasn’t had a successful result in YEARS. I’ve been working on some equations, and I theorize that, based on the results of the experiment-turned-Qrykee, I will be able to develop one of my experiments into a full-fledged pet species. Yes, yes, I know it was only possible with the Qrykee due to its connection to the Sewer Beast and evolutionary form yadda yadda but they don’t call me a genius for nothing! I’ve been studying the DNA, and I think it could work. As a matter of fact, I've already picked out the 5 experiments I believe it has the biggest potential to work on.

But as always, I need funding to proceed! I can’t just zap sP, you know. Well, I know I can zap certain things INTO sP but I’d have to get hold of those things first, which costs sP, and to be quite honest I’ve turned too many things into dust on my quest to fund myself. So I’ve decided to set this up as a kind of poll, except you donate for the experiment you most would like to see made into a full pet!

My favorite experiment has always been so I'm pretty bummed not to see it on the list, but I still L O V E this idea! I'm having trouble deciding, it's so hard! It's also super interesting to see there are just as many people saying "I love this experiment so I want to see it as a pet!" than people who are saying "I love this experiment so I want it to remain exclusive!"

I have always wanted a qilin pet on a petsite : D it's got a peacock tail which is weird but better than no qilin. The other two spiky pets are cute too

I would love to see the sandcat become some kinda of redraw colour in the future. The idea of a pet disintegrating into sand....really cool. Also, gotta agree, we need that rift redraw colour too.

The pangolin is way too boring imo, and while I like peacock-horse, it's way too complex of a design; we already have enough complex-designed pets as of late (IE, Zentu). Honestly the squid and blob stand the best chances. I like the endless possibilities for the blob because it is simplistic to work off of, while the squid would fill more of the marine life we don't have.

It's not a waste to vote on more than one, it's a waste to vote on all of them. If you vote for everything equally, then you've cancelled out your own votes and done nothing but throw money away.

On the other hand, if you vote 10 times for your favorite pet and 5 for your second choice, then that's totally fine. You're helping both, and pushing them both ahead of the three you didn't vote for. 👍

Omg Im drooling at that idea. Im hoping that maybe each land in subeta gets one. Though idk where rift would be from. But I would love some sort of spirit from shengui, and we already have specific species from almost all other continents (or idk what we call them on subeta) so saheric would be amazing as a next step. Sandy egyptian mummy statues just sounds amazeballs.

I voted for the blob, 5162. I'd love to see how they do the different colours. I'd imagine the galactic one being a shooting star or something adorable. And the glade being a seed or something? I think it has the potential to be really really cute.

One possible way of solving it would be to have two winners: the pet that gets the most unique votes, and the pet that gets the highest amount of sp donated. (If they're the same after all, then we'd end up with just the one pet, which is all we'd originally been promised anyway.) But if the totals were actually visible, there'd be a reason to start spending more money on the pet you really really want to make it into more of that "competition" people seem to be into, instead of a weirdly expensive guessing game/lottery.

I have 41 pets and an open pet slot I'm waiting to use until the right pet comes along. Pets are the part of the site that's kept me here for all these (nearly 11?) years. So no, I may not play exactly like you do, but I'm not inactive? And yes, I've been on this site a long, long time. I happen to save my sp because I can spend a LOT of it very quickly once I start doing things like buying up pet slots or potions - which I'm currently also waiting on, because I tend to make new pets in batches, and I like to see what's on the horizon before I make decisions. I have no idea how criticizing my activity on the site is helpful to your argument in any way, but since you asked, that's my story. I wasn't comparing an online game economy with real world elections; like said, it was a commentary on voting being kind of meaningless at the end of the day if you're not rich enough. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and it made me think of the thing that I use sites like Subeta to escape from - the reality in which popular votes apparently don't win elections and your voice doesn't matter if you don't have enough money to throw behind it. I said in a previous comment that I understand sp sinks and participated in the last one without complaint. There are ways to do it. I just don't think this scenario is a particularly good one. I want the squid or the peacock to win, but I don't think my vote should be the one that wins unless the majority of people here agree. I DO think that it's going to majorly suck if the scenario Topher outlined happens, and a less popular pet wins because a smaller number of people were bored or determined enough to spend all their time clicking a button. I've been here for plenty of events...I know what people on this site are like. They WILL throw millions down the sink to win something. Heck, there are plenty of people in the comments saying they're planning to spend millions voting, so I don't see how it's a particularly far-fetched concept.

@ Sputnik It might all even out in the end, yeah. In my example, I used a pretty simplified breakdown of sp/votes. Obviously I have no insight into how the actual votes look so far, and there's still a lot of time for people to contribute. All I know is that from my time on subeta, I've learned there are a couple things at play here that I haven't seen on other similar sites: 1) Some users are very, very, very rich. Like, billionaire rich. And 2) Some users are very, very dedicated to the site and WOULD spend their whole day clicking a button if it meant getting their way. Neither of those things are necessarily bad, but combined they make for an interesting situation. Maybe the poll will be close, maybe it won't. Who knows! But there's potential for a small group of people to control the result in a significant way, and I think that's what some of us are unsure about. Of course, if you spend a lot of time and money on something, you expect to be rewarded in some way. That's fair. Sometimes it's hard to shake the "majority rules" mentality, though!

To be honest, I'm not really personally invested in changing more experiments into pets while there are so many pets that still need colors finished or revamped... I do understand that the different species have individual artists that may or may not have time to do a lot of pet art given how long it must take... that said, though, the zentu still only seems to have one redrawn color, and the qyrkee hasn't gotten any new redrawn colors since it was made into a pet, so I hope that where I'm coming from is understandable!

I feel like the sloth-pangolin-thing and squid make the most sense from a diversity standpoint, though the deer-peacock also would make a very nice pet! Even if I do sort of hope that existing pets will take priority over making more experiments into pets, I do like that this is an option now. A lot of experiments are really beloved and have plenty of potential as a pet species because they'd actually work as a species, they don't really look like a science experiment compared to the rest of the Subeta species. I really hope that this is used with some of the experiments that add more diversity to the pet species!

But it kinda evens out in the end? Lets say I donate 10 million sp to the blob, it isn't a popular and wanted zapper pet nor is it a popular choice in this poll. If 10 people, who are invested in this event, give 1 million sp to one of the most popular pets, example: the squid, then really, it's not a game changer on my part, now is it? Also, kudos to the madman who actually is patient enough to donate 100 million of their hard earned sp on this poll by clicking on that donate button 2000 times for a few hours, that's dedication.

It's not a regular vote, it's a competitive one, the goal is to delete a good portion of subeta points from the site. If the majority wants something really badly, they will most likely get it.

As much as I like the peacock, I want the cat. Yeah, there's already cat species, but here's the problem: they're all either really cutesy(feli, clawsion) or more regal(archan, tigrean). There's exceptions with certain colors, sure, but sometimes the color itself doesn't always work with a character. The 870 has a more 'in between' look, I think. Plus, the stone could totally be ice for glacier, moss for glade, fire for reborn, etc. :D

At the risk of taking this too seriously: I think the point was making is that it doesn't feel good to know that some votes are worth more than others. We'd all like to believe the old adage that "every vote counts" but when the voting system is set up like this, that clearly isn't the case. If one person donates 100 million to a pet and 1000 people donate 50k to another pet, it doesn't seem right that the first pet wins. If you just look at total money donated, it's a 2:1 landslide, but the result clearly isn't what the majority of users want. That doesn't feel like a fair system, particularly because the wealth disparity that created the situation is a result of something largely out of the users' control (like you said, subeta's economy is busted in a way that some users are able to exploit). While clearly not exactly the same, I don't think the comparison to the electoral college is that far-fetched. Sometimes it's necessary (or just fun) to get creative with user participation methods, but sometimes the simplest solution (aka one person, one vote) is the best. =)

Glad to see there's so much love for the squid! I already own a chibi one and would certainly be interested to see others. Were it not one of the options, my vote would have been for the peacock thing, but our non-quadruped pet options feel kinda limited so squid it is!

I still keep coming back here because I just want it so much.

We have no squids, no octopus, no cuttlefish, nothing for pets. Like so many others mentioned I have several OCs for these squid pets and I would love for it to win. We already have an insane amount of cats, foxes, equines, birds, etc. Where is the marine life love?

I had to do a combination of a fan pet with an OC in order to kind of make this a realization for me. While I love the blob and only donated a minimal amount towards the cause, the squid is the best option I think for a new species unlike any other. Either that or the sloth. To me I feel like the blob was something of science gone wrong and he got zapped into a pile of sludge. The idea is cute, but to try and expand upon that when we have two other species that have yet to be touched?

All of these ideas are potentially cool, but I think we should be expanding more on pet species we don't have yet. My actual full two-cents on this other than, "LOL OMG FANGIRL SERVICE OUTLAW STAR IS NOW RED."

Also, then if they wanted to, they could make a common version of and release it like the Qrykee.

As a Tigrean collector, I cheated myself to owning a 870 experiment as long as its name was relevant to being a 'fake' Tigrean trying to fit in. Haven't done anything with that pet yet, and now I'm kinda glad, because if it wins and becomes its own species, I can't really play that 'fake Tigrean' card anymore with it.

I'm glad you guys are expanding some experiments as pets, but I really hope you don't get carried away with it.

not sure if you're just inactive but you seem to be in here for like 10 years. Subeta's got a problem with economy: the huge, huge amount of sP running in it. And since staff actually cares to make a game worth playing (unlike neopets for example) they try to intervene into the economy in an attempt to fix this. However, as pointed out, voting for more than one pet is basically just throwing your sP away since only one might win.

Comparing an online game economy measure with the US elections isn't the best example you could get imo.

I agree with some of the others that should be done as a color rather than a pet on its own. We don't have any stone/sand colors and it would be nice to have that as an option, please. :)
