Black Friday 2014 Announcements + Gift of Fashions Past Chance Machine

Like last year, our annual Black Friday sale in the Cash Shop will start early! You'll have from November 24th through December 1st to load up on sale goodies!

Because of the extension of the sale, we areÂ notÂ going to be doing price matches for 10 days prior as we have previously. We wanted to make sure to give you the heads up so you don't mistakenly buy something before the sale expecting to be refunded the difference.Â

We're currently discussing the logistics of Custom Wearable inclusion due to their recent changes. We'll let you know about that soon!

This year will be the last year that pet slots, pet name changes, username changes, and pet overlays will be included in the Black Friday sale. If you've got some more room in your family or want to change up some names, you might want to consider doing them for such a great deal while you can!

In the mean time, enjoy our newly reworked Gift of Fashions Past. For a mere 50CSC, you can now take a whirl at the Gift of Fashions Past Chance Machine. You get one item per turn. Existing boxes will continue to work as they have, but will not be sold directly from the Cash Shop anymore.

Note: The Chance Machines and December 2014 Collection will not be included in the Black Friday sale.

decided to try the gofp machine twice just to test it, i got ZombieCrossing Nekromantic Skirt and Black Sheer Ball Gloves so for me it isn't worth it atm. Not even sure what set the Black Sheer Ball Gloves belongs to?

Not impressed with the GOFP machine, I had planned on buying a bunch this black friday and now there's not going to be a discount on them. Sure change the format that doesn't really matter to me but you could still include them in the discount. Chance bags/machines are easier to stomach when you know you're spending half of what you normally would, so if you get something you don't want it's easier to deal with.

That's why they need to work on the logistics for it. What I think they might do is lock down price changing before the sale goes on (so people don't jack up their prices to make more profit and have the item sell at the same price during sale time). OR they might just have a sale only for pawn shop and not CW shops. I mean maybe they can figure something else out, but unless they lock down price changing for that period of time (and beforehand) then I can't imagine they would be able to do it.

I recall back around peka-boo they had a CW/pawn shop sale where everything was 25% off but the owner still made the same amount of profit as before (so it really was more of a loss for the site than for the users).

Idk personally I think $20 a slot is pretty cheap when you consider a CW is $6 for a single item (sometimes more) (sometimes a lot more than $20). But the perspective of cheap really depends on the person asked.

I think $5.00 for a hair thing is stupid but some people spend 10 times that for a limited CW wig, and likewise people think $20 is outrageous but I paid $60 a pop for 4 of mine so haha, perspective and all that.

Also to go back a few years, the BF sale wasn't even a thing, so the fact that literally everything in there has been 50% off for the past few years is a huge privileged that I imagine has cost the site a lot of monthly income since people not only wait until November to buy from the site but they get everything at a discount, too. I'd much rather see the site bring back older stuff at fullcost (collections, challenger books) and focus on discounting the useable items (redeemable hair coupons, books, potions, unlockable challengers, etc) than they should things that people WILL purchase at full cost (pet slots, name changes, GAs, username changes, so on).

Just because they're cheaper now than they used to be, doesn't make them cheap. Just cheaper than they were. By that logic, a 15 thousand dollar car is cheap because it WAS 30 thousand dollars. It's not cheap, 20 dollars is a lot of money for a lot of people. No shit it's a luxury though I don't think anyone was contesting that. And I wasn't even saying the price is unfair for the luxury, simply that it is not in fact, cheap.

I worked retail on that day once shudders at memory and I can affirm that people go crazy when the smell a huge discount.

It started in Philadelphia, describing the disruptive and heavy pedestrian/vehicle traffic the days after Thanksgiving, since it's typically the time that people begin all the holiday shopping. Hence why some people refuse to leave their houses lol! A newer explanation is that retailers function at a financial loss from January to November (their profits are in the red, which is bad for them) and Black Friday is when they'll turn a much larger profit due to the holiday shopping.
