Pumpkin Carving Contest

Morostide is around the corner--let's carve some pumpkins! We want to see what clever ideas you can come up with, so how about another contest? Staff will vote, and the three winning pumpkins will be drawn as official Subeta items that you can carve and add to your collections!

Rule Breakdown:

  • You must carve a pumpkin. Real live pie ingredient? Yes! Fake foam pumpkin? Sure! Potato? No thanks!
  • Your pumpkin must be Subeta-themed.
  • You can use other decorations (paint, glitter, ribbon, etc.) but you must include some carving!
  • Include a description (500 characters or fewer) that you would want to be used for the on-site item should your pumpkin win.

You can enter your pumpkin until end of day October 19th. The winning pumpkins will be released shortly thereafter. :)

Winners will receive a copy of their pumpkin and 2000 CSC! All entrants will get a handful of Morostide items (maybe a retired item or two will make a comeback?), an achievement, and a forum title!

    Enter your pumpkin here!!

My arm now feels like it's going to fall off but I finished my pumpkin. Don't ever tell someone you want a small pumpkin or else you'll end up with a really hard to carve pie pumpkin. Do to that I had to do a bit of creative changes do to a mishap in carving. lol I doubt it'll be the most spectacular carving but I'm proud of it.

Walmart has foam craft carving pumpkins that were decent sized for carving in black and orange colors for like $5. Ours were on an end cap in the Halloween section, but I've also seen them in the craft section on previous Halloweens as well as on the main Halloween section shelves. Any craft store should have them otherwise!

- Would it be acceptable to like carve a giant foam craft ball into a pumpkin and then carve a pumpkin in it? What if the medium was something you could make into a pumpkin, then carve? :) Curious! Thinking of ideas for those in areas without pumpkins! ^_^

Any craft store should carry foam pumpkins this time of year. I know Michael's does. I'll be out and about tomorrow, so I think I'll pick one up and a little carving kit (need a new kit anyways for doing carving later with the family). I'll try to come up with something and have some fun doing something more challenging (than my usual quick pumpkin carving lol). GL to anyone that is entering! This'll be fun to see all entrants. =3

c: Just picked up 3 little (a bit more than the size of a surprisingly large grapefruit, maybe?) foam pumpkins and a carving kit at the dollar store for this...I would have bought a real one but I can't see spending like 8 bucks and then screwing up somehow. At least if I mess the foam one up, I've got two more to use. xD

I might do this...I was going to buy a bunch of pumpkins this year and didn't know what to carve, so I guess one will go for this contest!

I have always had bad experiences with carving real pumpkins, they grow mold, rot and sag within a few days and I have cut myself in the past because they can be really hard. Whelp, since I am making my own costume this year from scratch, maybe I can find a foam one on my journey to the craft store this weekend???

It ends on the 19th, though? Maybe it's where I live, but we usually do our Jack-o-Lanterns/carved pumpkins/whatever within the week of Halloween because they go bad and gross so quickly. So I'll have to decide if I want to deal with pumpkins so early. :P

Sounds interesting, but I won't be entering. My family has always done their carving within the last week of October, to ensure that the pumpkin is still good on Halloween. The 19th is just too early for me to be doing it by. Particularly with the ant problem we have, I can't count on a carved pumpkin to last ~10 days, it'll be completely infested by that point.

Star_Gazer we're trying contests with different mediums. There will be one for drawing in the future! We're trying to branch out so everyone will at some point be able to enter, basically!

Why not be able to draw a pumpkin just as much effort. And I could understand not accepting something done on media but at least accept drawing of pumpkins some of us army financialy able to get pumpkins and others don't have them around their areas?
