Reading Drive Prizes!

Alexander and Archie would like to thank everyone who participated in the reading drive! They are both quite happy with the number of books they received, and are looking forward to passing them on to Subeta's youth!

They spent all night making sure that everyone's points were in order, and now that they've finished, they are happy to announce that the Reading Drive Shop is open! The shop is full of items both new and old, and our resident A-Team is certain you'll find something you like. You got 2 points for each book turned in, 1 point for each quest you completed, and 10 points for each day of the scavenger hunt you completed.

Happy shopping, everyone!

Glad it got situated Aiko.! There were apparently a very small handful of people who had their points miscalculated. Grace posted a thread in P&B to post on if you think you were one of them.

Haha, finally the site has an Enid Blyton item! A bottle of ginger beer for whoever made that happen.

I really enjoyed this event, despite the fact it forced me to do quests. I didn't put masses of money in and by magic got the exact number of points I need to buy everything I really, really want: Reviver of the Lion, Spiritual Soup, Noddy sticker, Lightning Globe and Reading is Fun Folder.

Well, thanks. My points were corrected. The problem with mine were that the books turned weren't multiplied by 2. The other points were fine. Thank you Subeta! I love all the items, just wish I could get most of them. lol

A programmer looked into points, and I think most/all of you are taking the wrong number from last night. There was a brief moment when it was being calculated that it had already done some of the math.

Your absolute max from quests is 240 (30 x 8), plus the 70. So the most you could have had in the bottom number ("From Alexander"), was 310. If your quest/hunt number is any bigger than that, you were looking at it during that short window of tallying last night.

So far, every person we've looked at has been correct.

For anyone missing points; I believe the 10 points for each scavenger day were already included in our points total for Alexander during the event. I checked it based on the max amount of quests we could have done and my points total from before it ended and also from Saturday. On Saturday I had 240 points from Alexander which was the max you could have had up to that point with 60 points being from the scavenger hunt.

The smart thing to do would have been to totally break the points down beforehand.

books turned in - 200 quests completed - 100 scavenger hunt points earned - 70

then we all wouldn't be sitting here wondering if our points are really correct or not lol.

The most quest points anyone could have was 240. (160 for non-gold members) So if you remember seeing a higher number, that's your proof that they added in the scavenger hunt points all along.

I just added up my points on this... 212 books turned in: 424 points 260 quest points: 460 Total is 684.

I assume so, considering that your contributions to our drive this year earned have you 684 point(s).

Did not everyone get the scavenger quest points included, or...? D:

I hope I'm not overstepping here, but hopefully this helps: Extract - The 304 points is your combined total from doing quests and from doing the scavenger hunts. If you did all seven days of the scavenger hunt, that means you completed 234 library quests. Another way to look at it would be to calculate the absolute maximum number of library quests that could be completed during the event. At 30 quests per day, there were nine days that we could quest (there was a brief window after midnight today, the 10th, where quests were still counting), so the maximum from quests alone is 270. So your scavenger points had to have been included in that 304 total. :)

--Did all of the people missing points track their quest numbers separately from the RD page during the event? The scavenger hunt points aren't added on top of what your points for/from Alexander were, they were included--

I'm not sure...I know I'd turned in 702 books. I know that every time I did a quest for items, not looking for pages, that I'd get points and that added up to 304....so why would the page thing be the same as that? If I hadn't done the pages at all, wouldn't I have still received points for doing the daily 30 quests? Why would they be the same?

Keliora and Ariel thanks for the feedback and info. That makes sense but I genuinely appreciate you checking with the programmers to make sure :) I'm happy with any points to spend but if I really should have that other 100 points I would be even happier lol.

My points aren't adding up either. I'd like to know how many quests I completed. I've kept my page open from yesterday and it said that I had turned in 206 books =412. And that I have 495 points from Alexander. So that's 907 points I should have. It says I got 701.

I think that the Alexander points may not be correct and that when it went all screwy last night it gave me more. 701 may be the correct number but I just want to be sure I'm not missing out on 200 points, so I'll wait to see what the programmer says :)

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Maleficent
User Avatar

Ariel- Ok :) Some reason I did not notice they were being added into it when completed. So then that makes sense then and by not adding on the 70 for the Hunt it adds up since the hunt was added all along.

Confusion is cleared. Thanks!

Color me confused I was going by the news that states each part points and not saying something is included. So yes that would be very confusing. I'm practically deaf and take the written word literally ;)

Were the Scavenger Hunt parts included the whole time or afterwards? I ask because my reading drive stuff is still the same from yesterday afternoon except the 1 point that was added for doing Alexander Quest yesterday.

My points aren't right either. I turned in 340 books, that is 340*2=680 Had 278 points for doing quests, that alone sums up to 958 - Since I'm not sure if the hunt points were added to the quest points in advance, lets say that is my total, but the shop says I have 618 points. So that is wrong. I found all 7 pages for Alex, so those are 70 points extra, if they were not added to the quest total. So lets say they weren't, that would be 1028. So, even if the 70 points are added or not to the quest total- my points are wrong. They only sum it as 1 point for each book turned in.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Keliora
User Avatar

Shaelyn - for a brief period of time last night, your Alexander points were including your books turned in. So from my example below, it was saying I had 980 points from Alexander, which was way off. If I'm doing my math right (it is morning!), you probably had 159 points from Alexander (quests plus hunt). That plus your 101 books (x2), should give you a shop total of 361, which seems right. :)

Keliora...the reading drive page last night said I had 260 points from Alexander and I turned in 101 books. Since books were 2 points a piece, that should equal 202 points from books. So...my total points should be 462 if you add the books plus Alexander points together. The shop page says I have 361...that's a significant difference in points. Now, to be fair, I am assuming the "Alexander" points displayed last night were correct. If that is not the case...then yay for the points I did get and boo for the misleading info displayed on that page last night.

Is everyone adding their hunt points on top of the number shown on the reading drive page? Because the hunt points have already been added there. Your points should equal the two numbers on that page added together, not the two points added together + 70 (or 60, 50, etc.)

Will check on this later in case something is wrong, running to class now, but I you guys may be adding it up incorrectly.

Did all of the people missing points track their quest numbers separately from the RD page during the event? The scavenger hunt points aren't added on top of what your points for/from Alexander were, they were included.

So I had 645 books turned in and a total of 335 points from Alexander (from quests and the scavenger hunt).. which is 1625 which is how many points the shop says I have.
