Hydrus Irion and Telenine Revamps

Both are beautiful, but I do not like the new less shiny color choice of the bubble/pearl things on the end of the Irions fins. I liked them blue/gray, not this weird sickly pink color. Love the Telenines face.

a bit disappointed with the new irion. the old irion's expression had a certain sort a brightness which has been dulled considerably in the new one. regardless, the art is commendable

I really, really like the Telenine. Really, really tempted to get one (probably will). The Irion is lovely too.

Those updates are very pretty, and adding so much character to those pets.

The only thing that is bothering me about the Irion is the colour. I really liked the glowy bubbles and spheres on the old one. It seems a little plain. I really love the earfins, the fierce look and the front legs on the updated version.

Telenine looks wonderful.

The irion however does look a bit funny, especially in the face, it just looks very flat and lacking the life that makes the pets on this site so charming.

Wow, I was really looking forward for my Irion to get a revamp. Love how you kept the old pose, it's looking a lot better. Not so keen on the fin-feathers on its ear but I may get used to it! (though the orbs on its fins I feel should be blue like the old one) But it's all good! :) Also, looking at my Irion, it still has the old image of it so I think it's a glitch.

I'm loving the new telenine though! 🥰

I love the telenine, but something about the irion just makes me feel like it needs one more revamp, particularly on its shading. I love the way you guys shaded the telenine's fur, but on the irion, it looks a bit incomplete to me.

To anyone mentioning the 'tuft of fur(?) coming out of the irion's ear' -- they are finlike replacements for the feather earrings on the common irion's ear :)

The tail, the bright blues, and the horns are what I'm going to miss most on my Hydrus Irion. :( I'm really glad they kept the pose though.

Apart from those rather random... fins(?) coming out of the Irion's ear, I like both updates. Wish the bigger markings and the back spikes would be in the new version, though.

The new Telenine is amazing, well done!

To the Irion, I sadly have to admit, that there isn't much improvement. Yes, compared to the older version, there indeed is, but just looking at the other Irions on-site make me go :c when I see the new hydrus one. The shading is weird and off, the fur doesn't look at it fluffy as for example compared to the Telenine, the back legs are awkward and the front legs look a bit misplaced, especially the position of the claws. The Irion doesn't give off the vibe of a powerful creature anymore, just a standard animal body, which is a bit sad, considering it's a mix of lion and bird. Now it more looks like a dog wird beak.

I always liked how the Irion's tail is visible, the "crest" on the head and down the neck, and the bright blue markings. All these features are gone or significantly reduced in the revamp...I won't change my Hydrus Irion and she is still a beautiful pet, but I have to say, three of my very favorite features are gone in the revamp, which is too bad.

I wish Subeta would Post 'Before and After' images. Just so we can see the differences and such exp. if we don't see the newly revamped pet as much as we maybe should. c: I love the new artwork both are highly improved are very beautiful!

I said I loved the new changes but I didn't elaborate! lol! I'm going to give a structured pros and cons for each of the different looks. I'll begin first with the Irion and then move to the Telenine. It will be old version first then the new version.

Pros:

1) I liked how there's no tuft coming out of the ear but stays behind the ear.

2) I liked how the bright, baby blue gems and lines were larger and made more prominent.

Cons:

1) I don't like how happy the face is. To me I find the Hydrus color a more of a fierce, angry kind of breed of pet. Having that happy smile with bright, large eyes on the Irion just doesn't seem to fit. The beak also seems a little small for the pet.

2) I don't like how skinny the back legs were made out to be with hardly any knee and a left leg that looks like it has no bone structure to it. The Irion is a powerful animal and that made it look weaker and not as strong.

3) The front legs. The Irion is part bird. The front legs look as though they came off a dog or a cat species on here. There are no talons and scaly legs at all. It makes it seem as though the pet is all cat or dog of some sort with a bird head.

4) Those two spikes out the back and one on the right front elbow. They just look out of place for me. When you look at the pet you see two spines/spikes just sitting there and one on a single elbow. If they had continued moreso up the neck to the head or down the back some and found on both elbows, they'd feel more in place on the pet. However, the way it looks gives the feeling as though they were just added there as an afterthought. However, the Irion isn't even supposed to have elbows on the front legs as it's supposed to have bird legs.

5) The fins or whatever you call those things that stick out from the back and tail. They look like fins to me :P They seem too narrow and short for a big, powerful half bird half cat/dog. They look almost delicate lol! When I see a Hydrus Irion I imagine big, powerful, intimidating; not narrow and small. Same goes for the tail fin.

6) The chest and rib cage. It's just too small and dainty. If you look at the Irion it has a large, strong chest. Also the massive tuft of fur looks too fluffy and gives the Irion a cuddly "Love me! Hug me!" type of appearance. Not the kind of look you want on a Hydrus Irion :P

Pros:

1) The face! It's no longer a happy-go-lucky face. It has fierceness, power and anger to it. The beak is larger and better proportioned for the Irion. It gives off more of an auroa of "fear me!" instead of "I'm happy!"

2) The back legs. They have strength and power to them! They look like they have a proper bone structure. The toes are beautifully defined.

3) The front legs. The Irion finally has proper legs! No more kitty legs! It has gorgeously scaled, clawed talons.

4) The spikes. They're no longer exsistant. It doesn't give the Irion an out of place look like someone tacked spikes on randomly.

5) The fins on the back and tail. They're gorgeous! They're large, proud and properly proportioned. They help to add to the large fierceness that the Hydrus Irion gives off.

6) The chest and rib cage. Nice, strong and barreled. There's no more daintiness about it. The massive tuft of fluff is gone adding to the strong, fierce chest instead of a fluffy, little stuffed toy :P

7) I like how the horns are stronger than in the old version. They don't look like they're going to snap off. I also like how those little bubbles were removed, too. It just seemed to be too much.

8) I love the overall color change, too.

Cons:

1) The baby blue gems and markings I find are rather small. It'd be nice if it kept the largeness of the old version.

2) The tuft of fur/fins that's coming out of the ear. I feel as though that looks really off-balanced and that it may look better if it wasn't there at all as I feel it covers up the pretty fins behind it.

Pros:

NO PROS[/b].

[i]Cons:

1) The tail. It looked way too fluffy to work for the Telenine. It has a somewhat less fluffy tail than that.

2) The back leg. It's too long and skinny. There's also not much for definition to tell you that it's a leg much. It also seems to take up a lot of space to give any kind of definition to the rib cage and rump.

3) The rib cage. There isn't any. See point 2.

4) The fur. There's really not much of any definition of fur on the Telenine. The only visible fur is on the tail and the rump, face and a tiny, almost invisible bit on the elbows and back and the tiny chest tuft. The rest of it looks flat with no definition at all.

5) The back fins. They look rather scattered. I envisioned the fins to be more concise and in order. On this version it looks as though they were kinda tossed on there.

6) The front leg fins. I find they're also too high up and are aiding in hiding the rib cage.

7) The front legs. The top of the right leg goes right up into the body. It looks as though there is no body there in that area. It looks just all leg.

8) The ears. They don't look like Telenine ears at all. The additional long curve to them to fit that bubble in there looks rather funny and unbecoming of a gorgeous Telenine.

9) The right horn. In this version it looks as though the Telenine has two sets: one in front of the ear and one behind. It looks rather off.

10) The chest and neck. The chest looks almost non-exsistant due to the fact that it looks as though the Telenine has no neck. It looks as though the head was just placed there.

11) The fangs. They look so razor sharp and there are too many of them. Telenines are like dogs. They have rounded teeth at the ends, not in knife-like points.

12) The nose and blue gems. The nose doesn't look very defined as a nose. It looks more like an oval jujube :P The blue gems seem to have too much light blue. It'd've been nice had there been some darker blue as well to break it up a bit.

13) The claws. They look way too long and way too thick. They make it look like it'd be impossible to walk with claws that big :P

Pros:

EVERYTHING!!! :D

1) The tail is gorgeous. It looks like a real Telenine tail instead of a puff XD

2) The back leg is MUCH better proportioned now! It's not riding up into the rump area so much that you can barely see a rump. Also, there's a rib cage now because the leg's not so long that it's going into that area.

3) There's a rib cage! See number 2.

4) There is SO much definition to the fur now! The Telenine doesn't look flat and fur-less on most parts of its body.

5) The back fins are nice and consist now. They don't look a little scattered as in the old.

6) The front fins are not riding into the rib cage but have a defined place.

7) The front leg is perfect. It's properly proportioned and there's a visible body above it.

8) The ears are exactly as to what a Telenine's should be.

9) The right horn looks as though it's a single entity instead of broken into two separate parts.

10) The chest is visible now! The head looks as thoughthere's a neck holding the head in the proper place so that the chest can bee seen.

11) The fangs are no longer razor sharp and scary-looking. They look like actual teeth and there's a nice amount of two per side. It looks like the poor thing can actually open its mouth now! LOL! XD

12) The nose and blue gems. The nose has definition and the gems are beautiful with the contrast of light and dark.

13) The claws are perfectly proportioned and it looks like the poor Telenine can actually walk now XD

Those are just my thoughts about the two different befores and afters. I'd've posted all this in Spoilers but dunno if they work in here. The more I look at the Telenine, the more I love him. The original was nice, but the revamps are phenominal! Well done to the one who did this! :D

I'm always extremely sensitive when it comes to revamps of pets I own. I have to say that I agree with about the expression of the Telenine. But I also have to say that it's beautifully drawn apart from that. I'm certainly going to keep Scythian that way..

Overall the irion revamp is really nice!! I'm not a fan of the eye however its just so... odlly shaped? Kind of cartoonish, it looks a bit like someone stuck a bead in the fur instead of actually looking like an eye? The fur and the claws in the front are really nicely done though! The pose still kept intact but has some nice improvements as well.

The telenine is sadly missing the ferocity now, it looks kind of scared now! But I love the quality of the new one, it definitely needed the redo.

my only crit would be that i wish the telenine's horns were bigger to accommodate for better ear movement, that it looked like it was snarling and that its "brows" were down and ears pinned back

for the irion, well, in my opinion the pink orbs are totally out of place. i liked the brilliance of the purple ones and think it could certainly use a little more markings. it's a bit.. plain?

I see why this was done and the lines and coloring look better, but I feel like all the brilliance and beautty has been sapped out of the Irion (no offense, the artist is obviously skilled, but just seemed to take away the element I loved about the Hydrus Irion). Although the same thing also happened when you guys revamped from Aerie to Irion (I've never liked this pet since, the Hydrus was the last one I loved).

I love the telenine! the shading on the irion feels a bit flat to me, mostly in the front half, and I do miss the vibrant colors - BUT, it's nice to see it meshing with the species redesign

the telenine fangs look a bit like quills to me. If i ever get one I know a simple overlay can fix it. same for the expressions people are talking about. not being fierce enough.. simple overlay c: they look great though!

I am sad to see this Telenine revamp. I loved the original hydrus Telenine because its expression was so fierce, so angry, so crazed from its hydrus curse. It was arched in a snarl of aggressive dominance, as though it were squaring off with an enemy and about to attack. This revamp gives a totally different vibe. What once was dominant is now..... submissive sheepishness.The eyes and the pose, the rear legs held so close up under the body make it look like it is cowering in fear, as if I have just told it that it is a bad dog for shredding my newspaper, and that is is being scolded. Since when should a hydrus Telenine respond in cowardice to that? The hydrus were supposed to be proud, aggressive, creatures controlled by Merana to form her army to seek vengeance upon Subetans. Yet here, this Telenine cowers in fear as if it were nothing more than a pup.

The art itself has improved tremendously, but I am saddened by the loss of character.

I'm surprised by some of these comments. I never really liked the old Irion - compared to the species update it got, the old hydrus art simply didn't fit with it's new look. I've always been rather indifferent to most Irions, but I think the hydrus coloring got the revamp it deserved. That said, I actually really love the new Telenine. It's brighter, more emotional, and looks amazing. Seriously, dem ears.

I really prefer the old Irion and will be sad to lose it, since I am assuming I won't get a say. The only thing I like about the new one is the front legs. That said, this Irion's expression is aggressive, whereas the older one was spry and wild, which I loved. It has lost the electric blue, which was so beautiful. I don't care for the fur coming out of it's ears and the tail was far more attractive on the old version. This Irion is simply too crowded and dulled.

I like the Telenine.

I don´t like the Irion, it just not has that epic hydrus feeling. I really feel sorry that the glowing Hydrus-energy-jumping-electricity part was pulled back and barely added to the design. The old one felt epic space-water-alien-bird this one feels like water-bird. I also find the back legs disappear behind make it look more like a bird then a griphon.

But I LOVE the Telenine a lot, that makes me consider to get one Teleine and break out of my Jollin army a bit. )

I really prefer my old hydrus irion and I'm going to be kind of disappointed if this is forced on me, but I'm not sure I've ever seen critique of new art actually taken into account so I guess I'll just prepare myself for it happening. I also don't care for the telenine's pose, I feel like it hides too much and looks kind of awkward. That said, the shading and colours are nice, I just don't care for either of them otherwise.
