Welcome to
Rebuilding Subeta for the next 20 years
Hey there! Subeta has been around since 2004. That's over 20 years of memories, friendships, and virtual pets. It's incredible, and we're proud of what this community has built together.
But here's the reality: our codebase is also 20 years old. We're running on an operating system that requires paid security updates. We're stuck on PHP versions that no longer receive patches. The technical debt has piled up to the point where adding new features feels like playing Jenga with a skyscraper.
Subeta launches as a small virtual pet community. PHP 4 is cutting edge. Nobody knows what a smartphone is yet.
Features stack on features. The codebase grows organically. Workarounds become permanent. But the community thrives.
We're rebuilding from the ground up using modern technology, taking everything we've learned and applying it to create something better. Not just a facelift—a proper foundation that can support another 20 years of growth.
We're a small team, but we're dedicated. Every week brings new features, bug fixes, and improvements.
We've been testing with a growing group of community members who've been invaluable in finding bugs, suggesting improvements, and helping shape what Kumos is becoming.
Thank you to everyone who's been part of this journey.
We're rebuilding each feature with care. Some things will look familiar. Some things will be better. A few things might be different—we're fixing old design decisions that didn't quite work out.
Features rebuilt with lessons learned from two decades of running Subeta.
Finally, a Subeta that works beautifully on your phone.
Modern infrastructure means faster load times and smoother interactions.
New features built based on what you actually want.
A foundation that can evolve with the community for years to come.
Modern security practices and regular updates.
This project is for you. Your feedback shapes what we build and how we build it.
Subeta has always been about the community. Project Kumos is our way of making sure that community has a home for years to come. We're excited to build this with you.
