SPOILER (click to toggle)
Hello! I've done some browsing on the topics in here, found the changes about less healing more defense (not fully sure what that looks like, however...), refreshed my memory a bit on how to battle, browsed subetalodge a bit, but wondering if anyone has specific advice for my current set-up and ways to improve without spending a ton of sP? (: (he's close to tier 6 ish anyway)
For Raffe (my leashed pet), who is Tier 5 right now! Right now trying to raise his health with battle exp to get it much higher, I had always raised them all rather evenly in the past and saw a post that inspired me to up his health more!
I also sometimes use . I can't tell if that or is more useful sometimes, so I go back and forth haha. I also have some other scrolls, but trying to up Raffe's AP :')
Currently Trying:
Items I'm considering so far: or to replace the or to replace Apollonia... ? to replace the
to replace the others?
And when he reaches Tier 6:
Appreciate any advice and insights! :')
8/29 - Raffe has reached Tier 6! Adjusted my set a bit and now looking forward to and planning for Tier 7 b/c I'm impatient hehe :) will do more research tmr :p
Current Set: for the last 2 slots, been playing around with different combos, still trying to figure out what is best for diff challengers: others I have:
Questions/Deliberations:
Tier 7 Planning: or as a bomb to throw in when it makes sense...? - I actually have this already since I got it for a TC back in the day. No idea where I would slot this in as/what in my Tier 6 set I would replace with it. to replace the Gorgun. (to be replaced with Intricate Energized Helmet in T9?)
Scrolls: He has 71 AP right now, current base set: x2 I have 2 sancturia exodins, and also an to switch out with ocean currents depending on opponent.
Future goals: for ideally multiple freezer scrolls to switch out with Sancturia Exodin depending on challenger
does that seem like a solid plan? :)
The upgrades you just made (Shinwas Temple Shard and Phoenix Quill) are what I was going to suggest 😂
• So, you don't really need to replace your Gorgun. It still freezes 100% of the time and the differences between it and Gate Keeper Collar of Slavery are pretty marginal. The Collar used to be in the Battle Shop and you could buy it with battle tokens, and that's why it was recommended before. It's probably not worth recommending now that you can only buy it off the shop search.
• Something that is new for T5 and a really excellent weapon is Sunny Side Staff. I'd swap out your Forj Tempered Kusarigama and put the Sunny Side Staff in its place. The Staff will heal you each turn, which makes it more helpful than the Kusarigama. You can also use it into T6 if you wish :)
• I'd stay away from Artificial Prism Chalice because you can only use it once, then it's gone. Iron Fireside Lantern is pretty solid though, and you have to buy it to unlock a T8 challenger eventually (you'll get a copy back once you beat her), so it's worth picking up at some point :P
• Shields can be hit or miss in battling. Personally, I end up never using them 😬 I opt for another healer in that slot instead like Rainbow Quill. A different option is Frost Quill. Despite it not being a healer, it does a lot of damage and has a 50% chance to freeze the opponent on the next turn, which I find to be pretty helpful!
• As for the shrines, I really love using them, but it's important to know when to use them. Shrine of Apollonia activates a blessing that will help protect you from dark (:block:dark:), earth (:block:earth:), and wind (:block:wind:) icons for 10 turns. Shrine of Nukum activates a curse that will give you 17 additional attack icons for 5 turns. Shrine of Porin activates both a blessing and a curse! Personally, I would just stick to the Shrine of Apollonia for now as it is the most useful one of the bunch.
• For the rest of the weapons, these are the constants I used the most in T6: Most are not too bad price-wise, but remember to wait to buy something expensive until you know you need it. Otherwise you may end up frustrated and out of sP :P
I saw your Tier 4 advice and was inspired to make some changes! :')
Thank you so much for all of the information, this is all super helpful!! I was definitely getting lost in all the details trying to figure everything out, and having no idea of the use of certain weapons in the greater area of battling (especially as pets level up in tier).
I bought the Staff! I had no idea it would heal you, it wasn't listed as such in subetalodge!
Oh wow, I had no idea the chalice was one use, tysm! I'll keep an eye on the lantern once the fall shops roll around hehe.
Oh wow, I thought shields would be important for def! but now realizing might be more effective to find weapons that can do both atk and def :') (or using my scrolls for defense?)
Ty for the reminder to wait until I know I need it, I need that reminder, I was like "ooh, it's two more attack points!" haha, but realizing a lot of it has to do with Raffe's stats :')
Yeah, battling can have a big learning curve at first. Even though the guides are super helpful, I think most of the learning comes from experience and practice :P You have to battle to learn how to battle! Haha.
Shields can be helpful, but I personally never ended up really using them. That doesn't mean you won't find some uses for them though! If you still want to use them, go for it :P
That warning was mostly for the Reborn Icewand of Doom. It's pretty pricey. Even though it scales up into T8, you may end up not using it. But if you come across an opponent where you think to yourself, "hey, having this weapon would make things so much easier!" then it may be a good time to buy it :P You're right though, sometimes gaining more stats is what you need to beat an opponent you're stuck on!
Yeah, I've done a lot of battling in the past week, and it made more sense the more I did it! but when I first opened the battle page I was like "... i have no idea what any of these items or symbols mean..." and I was just clicking randomly and seeing what happened; or when I bought the thinking it was a weapon and then I opened it and I was like "wait why does it say equip - OHHH it's a potion isn't it damn" 🥲
it's been super exciting though, I got my very first "very hard" tokens!! and upping Raffe's health I think has really helped a lot!
of course, now I'm impatient and wishing he'd be stronger faster :')
Congrats on your first very hard tokens! Yeah, having higher health is still the best method, even after the revamp :P The stats will come to you in time! Just keep doing your BQs every day, that's the big one that helps the most.
If you ever need to double check what a weapon does, there's a fun link that shows you their hover stats: https://subeta.net/hover_weapon.php?name= Just copy and paste the name at the end! If it says 'one use,' I tend to avoid it because having to re-equip stuff is a huge pain :P
But I'm glad things are getting a little less confusing! You're always welcome over at the Battle Chat 2025 -pt2 if you have any more questions. The veteran battlers there are happy to help :D
Ooh that looks like such a useful link thank you so much for sharing!!
And thank you for the link to the forum chat, I'll try to post there sometime! I felt a little intimidated since everyone here seems like such high level and veteran battlers 🤣
Haha, we’re a lot less scary than we look :P
We also have a battle channel on the Subeta Discord server if that’s less intimidating! It’s a very casual and supportive environment there.
Okay I'll do a lil post there c:
Ooh I don't have discord rn I'll have to redownload but I'll try to check it out sometime! :D
Congrats on T6! 🎉
To answer your first two questions:
Although Porcelain Femme Fatale Figurine is stronger, keep in mind that Frost Quill also has a 50% chance to freeze, which will allow you to do more damage on the next turn if the opponent is frozen. I think that is worth more than the 14 icon difference :P Though, when freezing is disabled, yeah, the Figurine is technically the better pick.
Reviver of the Lion is definitely a worthwhile purchase. Healing is kind of the best mechanic in the game so you'll always benefit from more healing, whether that be more healing weapons or healing scrolls. It just helps you survive longer. So any time is a good time to pick up the RotL. It really comes down to which weapons you prefer in your 8 slots, because you'll have to kick something else out to fit it in.
• For T7, swapping in the Hydragellos Possessed Eye in place of Gorgun, and Potion of the Robot in place of Frost Quill would be my recommendations :D
Potion of the Robot is still techinically a bomb like Item Hunters Bomb and Acorn Bomb, but it also has a +250 strength boost, which makes it my favorite weapon in T7. The extra strength should help you out more than those other two choices.
Now for your constants, the big one I used in T7 was Beanstalk Whip. I recommend trying to earn one yourself because it's way overpriced on the shop search - practically the same price as just buying the opponent. Scythe of the Widow and Panzer Hydra Blade are also relatively cheap and can heal you a little each turn :D
• Your scrolls/scroll plans look like they're in good shape. Although I'd skip the Lucky Scrolls. They're expensive for only a marginal improvement over Morosbane Scrolls. I don't really use them much myself and just go straight for the Gift of the Forj Scrolls.
Thank you for all the information again! I do like the freezing capabilities of the frost quill, I'll keep that figure on the backburner and just see how things go while I wait for T7 c: i'll put that as the next big purchase i plan for! though hm it would be hard to figure out what i want in those 8 slots. still fiddling around to see what works well!
thank you for the T7 recs, i'll look into those! :D
Yeah I'll most likely skip Lucky, I know books are so important but so far, I just haven't read tooooo many to Raffe yet, and it gets so expensive so fast 😅 though scrolls, when not disabled, do seem like a third weapon slot, so i know I should keep reading to him!
Everyone does love freezing, haha. Not so much being frozen, but you get what I mean 😂
Yeah, I'm diligent about reading to my pets to maximize their intel so I tend to stack my healers in my scroll set and will even skip Reviver of the Lion and Phoenix Quill in my weapon set altogether sometimes. It really just depends on what you want to accomplish. Once you discover your own playstyle, you'll have a better idea of what you want in those 8 slots :D
For books, maximizing your currency during holidays helps a lot. Like finding and sending as many flowers as you can during Vesnali to earn coins for the books in Esther's shop. If you have the spare time to participate, you can earn a lot of books essentially for free that way!
I love it when I can chain freeze a few turns😆 and hate when i get frozen since i sometimes don't leave enough health to take an attack with no defense or healing 🥲
Ooh that's interesting! I'm assuming those gift of the forj scrolls??
I would probably get busiest around when the holidays are, I've had a little reprieve the past two weeks (sadly with no event going on in subeta rn haha), but I know I'll get busy again 😅 but will def try!!
Yes! Mostly Gift of the Forj and then two Rage of the Paramnesia Scrolls can be earned once you get into T12 :D
Fortunately it isn’t too time consuming if you’re just working on your first pet. I try to get the books for all of my pets, which is both a blessing and a curse, haha. But currency is also cheapest on the shop search during the holiday they’re found in so, if you ever don’t have time, you can always buy them instead and save a little money while the holiday is ongoing!
